2023.06.06 19:19 camilopezo Video game in which the Final Boss is a general or high-ranking commander, instead of the Big Bad.

Either because the Big Bad doesn't know how to fight, he is defeated in a cinematic, is killed in mid-game, it is not necessary to kill him to finish the game, among others.
Two examples I can think of are Caesar (Fallout New Vegas) and Lacroix (Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines.)
---Caesar despite being the leader of the legion, is a completely optional enemy in the 3 routes in which you oppose the Legion (NCR, House and Wild Card Courier) and there is not even an optional mission that involves killing him (You get points of relationship with a companion anti-legion, but those points can be completed with other activities) In fact if you are following the route of the NCR you are not even obliged to meet him personally.
The Final Boss is his General Lanius.
--Lacroix is the prince of Los Angeles (The highest authority that represents the Camarilla in that city), but you never face him as a boss. (The closest thing is when he is possessing a soldier with explosives attached to his body), in itself the role of final boss is given to his bodyguard who is more than eight meters tall, while Lacroix is defeated in a cinematic scene .
Note: Games in which the emperor does not appear in person or has a small role do not count, so Star Wars games in which Sidious does not appear do not count.

2023.06.06 19:18 devilsravioli A refutation of the First Presidency's 2023 claim that, "The temple covenants and ordinances remain the same.": The evolution of the Law of Chastity as presented in the LDS temple endowment.

Disclaimer: In the following post I outline language from the LDS Temple Endowment, past and present. Nothing disclosed in this post is promised by adherents to remain strictly confidential (names, signs, tokens, and penalties). I can not promise whether the links included disclose what you may deem sacred.
In February of 2023, the LDS Church released a new endowment ceremony that contained a myriad of changes. The changes include adjustments to the visual presentation, upfront disclosures of the covenants, more Jesus, less touching, restructuring of the creation narrative, modifications in character dialogue, omissions, attempts to remove patriarchy, and explicit rewording and explanations of the covenants. Naturally, attendees will notice these differences. The FP added the following quotation to soothe patrons as part of the disclaimer at the introduction of the 2023 endowment (emphasis mine):
You will notice that additional adjustments have been made in the presentation of the endowment, all of which are in harmony with the doctrine of the Savior's restored gospel. The temple covenants and ordinances remain the same.
According to the FP, despite the apparent "adjustments" to the endowment ceremony (bonus points to anyone who can tell me the difference between "adjustments" and "changes"), "The temple covenants and ordinances remain the same." I do not believe this is an honest statement. We can examine the Law of Chastity as it has been presented over the last 100 years in LDS Temples and make a judgement. Below is a table with five different presentations of the Law of Chastity given in the LDS endowment over time (the three oldest from ldsendowment.org and the two newer from transcripts I possess). Each column represents the ceremony of the title period. Each row represents comparable passages in that period. Forgive me for any errors in formatting this information to fit in the table.
Pre-1927 Pre-1990 Post-1990 2019 2023
A couple will now come to the altar. A couple will now come to the altar. A couple will now come to the altar. Adam and Eve, please come to the altar.
Brothers and sisters, please consider yourselves as if you were respectively Adam and Eve.
We are instructed to give unto you the law of chastity. This I will explain. To the sisters, it is that no one of you will have sexual intercourse except with your husband to whom you are legally and lawfully wedded. To the Brethren it is that no one of you will have sexual intercourse except to your wife to whom you are legally and lawfully wedded. We are instructed to give unto you the law of chastity, which is that each of you shall have no sexual relations except with your husband or wife to whom you are legally and lawfully wedded. We are instructed to give unto you the law of chastity, which is, that the women of God’s kingdom and the men of God’s kingdom shall have no sexual relations except with those to whom they are legally and lawfully wedded according to His law. We are instructed to give unto you the law of chastity, which is that God’s sons and God’s daughters shall have sexual relations only with those to whom they are legally and lawfully wedded according to His law.
Sisters, please arise. All please arise.
Brothers and sisters, as invited by Peter, please raise your arm to the square as instructed:
Each of you bring your right arm to the square. Each of you bring your right arm to the square. Each of you bring your right arm to the square. Each of you bring your right arm to the square.
You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will not have sexual intercourse with any of the opposite sex save your lawful husband, given you by the holy priesthood. You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar that you will observe and keep the law of chastity, as it has been explained to you. You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses that you will observe and keep the law of chastity, as it has been explained to you. You and each of you individually covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses that you will observe and keep the Law of Chastity, as it has been explained to you. Each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses that you will keep the law of chastity as it has been explained to you.
All bow your heads and say yes. Each of you bow your head and say, "Yes." Each of you bow your head and say "Yes." Each of you bow your head and say "Yes." Each of you bow your head and say “Yes”.
That will do. That will do. Thank you. Thank you.
Brethren, please arise.
Each of you bring your right arm to the square.
You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will not have sexual intercourse with any of the opposite sex except your lawful wife or wives who are given you by the holy priesthood. You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar that you will observe and keep the law of chastity, as it has been explained to you.
All bow your heads and say yes. Each of you bow your head and say, "Yes.”
That will do.

1927

As Mormonism transitioned, the endowment changed. This was particularly the case when the Church was forced to abandon polygamy at the turn of the 20th century. As generations of active polygamists died off, the endowment language for the Law of Chastity was revised to reflect the iron fist of Grant (ironically) and Clark. All this to squelch any lingering fundamentalists in the Church. A man no longer covenanted to limit their "sexual intercourse" to their wives, but only promised to remain loyal to their legal and lawful wife (emphasis on the legal).

1990

Any changes to the endowment between 1927 and 1990 are insignificant compared to what occurred in 1990. In 1988, the LDS Church issued and distributed a survey to gauge members' attitude toward the temple and other aspects of the church. Some of the instructions/questions included:
Q28: Based on your experience In receiving your own endowment, how much do you agree or disagree with the following statements?
a. I felt prepared for my temple endowment.
b. I had people with me who cared about me
c. I was nervous about what would happen
d. The experience was unpleasant.
e. I was confused by what happened
f. I felt spiritually uplifted by the experience
Q29: Briefly describe how you felt after receiving your own endowment.
Q30: What do you wish you had done or known before you went to the temple for your own endowment?
Q35: If you were unable to participate In these temple ordinances as much as you wanted to during 1987, what are some of the things that made It DIFFICULT FOR YOU to go to the temple?
Evidently, church leadership wanted to know how members felt about the temple. Many believe that a direct result of this feedback was the 1990 adjustments to the temple ceremony. Changes included the removal of the penalties, the removal of the preacher, the removal of explicit phrases in the Adamic language, and removal of the lecture at the veil. These changes reduced the time requirement of the endowment and fortunately blessed us with Michael Ballam as Lucifer. The 1990 version of the endowment is more egalitarian, in that it combines the men's and women's covenant to obey the Law of Chastity (maybe this change was simply for brevity). Also, "intercourse" was replaced with "relations". This ambiguity sure doesn't help when attempting to define what is and isn't restricted in the Law of Chastity. Regardless, the meat of the Law of Chastity did not change in 1990.

2019

2019 is when the endowment changes got really interesting. Here is a summary put together by Jonathan Streeter of all the significant changes that took place. Faithful feminists saw these changes as a massive leap forward. There were significant changes to the wording of the Law of Chastity. Here they are outlined (text=no change, italics=addition, strikethrough=redaction):
We are instructed to give unto you the law of Chastity; which is, that each of you shall have no sexual relations except with your husband or wife to whom you are legally and lawfully wedded. the women of God’s kingdom and the men of God’s kingdom shall have no sexual relations except with those to whom they are legally and lawfully wedded according to His law.
Husbands and wives are no longer the subjects of the covenant. "Men" and "women" of "God's kingdom" are now making the covenant. The Church no longer shares ownership of the titles "husband" or "wife". They were forced to change the Law of Chasity to accommodate this shift in the definitions of these titles and their relationship to one another. After 2015, in the US, legal and lawful husband/husband and wife/wife pairs existed in and out of the Church. It is important to note that, technically, the Law of Chasity, as presented in the temple prior to 2019, accommodated legal and lawful same-sex marriage. Despite this accommodation, the Handbook of Instructions was modified in November 2015 to make entering a legal and lawful same-sex union an excommunicable offense. The temple endowment changes lagged significantly. They did not come until after the Nov 2015 policy was rescinded. The addition of "according to God's law" further galvanized the Church's attempt to fence their heterosexual boundary. These changes have Russell Nelson, Dallin Oaks, and Obergefell v. Hodges written all over them. For example, in 2019 (after the endowment changes), Russell Nelson stated in his infamous "Love and Laws of God" address at BYU (emphasis mine):
Thus our commission as apostles is to teach nothing but truth. That commission does not give us the authority to modify divine law.
For example, let’s consider the definition of marriage. In recent years, many countries, including the United States, have legalized same-sex marriage. As members of the Church, we respect the laws of the land and abide by them, including civil marriage. The truth is, however, that in the beginning—in the beginning—marriage was ordained by God! And to this day it is defined by Him as being between a man and a woman. God has not changed His definition of marriage.
God has also not changed His law of chastity. Requirements to enter the temple have not changed. And our desire for there to be love at home and harmony between parent and child has not changed.
Irony is soaked in his declaration considering he is responsible for changing the meaning of the Law of Chastity as presented in the 2019 endowment. This isn't even considering the changes to the Law of Chastity as a result of Smith's (apparent) denunciation of Celestial Marriage at the turn of the century. Russell Nelson explicitly defines the Law of Chasity being the union between a singular ("a") man and singular ("a") woman. This has not always been so. The Law of Chastity has changed.

2023

In 2023, there was yet again more changes made to the endowment ceremony. These changes were not minor, they were significant. The tone of the entire ceremony shifted. Part of this shift in tone is an emphasis on covenants (Russell Nelson's finger prints). Wherever covenants could be inserted, they were added. In some places these changes were awkward and alter the meaning of the original endowment. For example (text=no change, italics=addition, strikethrough=redaction):
Narrator: Brothers and sisters, through the ages Heavenly Father has sent messengers to communicate with His children. In the endowment, Peter, James, and John symbolically represent such messengers.
Peter: Good morning.
Satan: Good morning, gentlemen.
Peter: What are you doing here?
Satan: Observing the teachings of these people.
Peter: What is being taught?
Satan: I am teaching the philosophies of men mingled with scripture.
Peter: How is this teaching received?
Satan: Many receive it very well, except but these people do not seem to believe what is being taught.
Peter: Good morning. What do you think of this teaching?
Adam: We are looking for messengers from our Father to teach us.
Peter: That is good. Have you any tokens or signs? Have you been true to the covenants you made in the Garden of Eden?
Satan: Have you any money?
Peter: We have sufficient for our needs.
Satan: You can buy anything in this world with money.
Peter: Do you sell your tokens or signs for money? You have them, I presume. Have you been true to your covenants?
Adam: We have them, but we do not sell them for money. We hold them sacred. We have been true to our covenants and are looking for the further light and knowledge Father promised to send us.
Peter: That is right. We commend you for your integrity. Good day. We shall probably visit you again.
Satan: Now is the great day of my power. I reign from the rivers to the ends of the earth. There is none who No one dares to molest or make afraid oppose me.
Satan's famous interjection directed at the Apostles makes no sense with the replacement of "covenants". The find and replace function was used a little too liberally when redrafting the script this time around.
Two significant revisions to the wording of a specific covenant during one administration (Nelson) seems unprecedented, but it happened. The Law of Chastity was affected in 2023 (text=no change, italics=addition, strikethrough=redaction):
We are instructed to give unto you the Law of Chastity, which is that the women of God’s kingdom and the men of God’s kingdom God’s sons and God’s daughters shall have no sexual relations except only with those to whom they are legally and lawfully wedded according to His law.
The parts that were added in 2019 were redefined in the 2023 version. This flip-flop is unprecedented (just as unprecedented as the Nov 2015 policy flip flop). The subject of the covenant is no longer the men and women of God's kingdom, but "God's sons and God's daughters". Also, the Law of Chastity is no longer presented as an exception, but an expectation to follow. The requirement of adhering to "His law" remained.
The reasoning behind the 2019->2023 change to the Law of Chastity remains a mystery to me. The "legally and lawfully wedded according to His law" remained the same. This is the primary refutation of same-sex marriage. The change in subject and restructuring of the covenant serve what purpose? Is the Law of Chastity only applicable to those in God's Kingdom, meaning members of the Church? Are non members not accountable to the repercussions of breaking the Law of Chasity? Did the FP realize this and change back to the generalized sons and daughters of God to encompass all people? Who knows. I would appreciate feedback and insight here.

Summary

What is the Law of Chastity? Do words define the Law? If so, have the words not changed? More importantly, has the meaning of the law changed? If the meaning of the law did not change, who determined the words that define the law? Prophets? Does man really direct God? Do man's words define God's laws? Do we not have the vocabulary to define God's laws? Did God not have the LGBTQ community in mind when he revealed the Law of Chastity to his prophets in 1990? 2019? 2023? Is the text of the explanation of the Law of Chasity as presented in the endowment the ultimate definition of the Law of Chastity? If not, then what is? If we make a covenant to keep the commandments at baptism, why do we need to make an additional covenant to obey the Law of Chastity in the temple? Why is the explanation of the Law of Chastity so trite in the temple when the explanation for the Law in the Church Handbook is so long? Are we not bound by the specificity in the Handbook?
I finished this exercise with more questions than I did when I started. One item became abundantly clear though, the explanation of the Law Chastity has changed. One could argue that the meaning behind the explanation has not changed, but they would then need to explain why the explanation has changed. Do the words matter? The words seem to matter in every other ordinance (i.e. baptism). The leaders of the Church are in such a state of suspension, that in the last 5 years, we have had three different explanations for the Law of Chastity presented in the temple. Things are in motion. This will be the topic of the decade. Irrefutable declarations, such as Nelson's, will not be treated well in the annals of history. Absolutes only become regrets as maturity and nuance grow through experience. This is why we are discouraged from discussing what happens in the temple.

2023.06.06 19:11 xc75_Riven What to do with Izek - Post Burgomaster

Hi, I'm running CoS for a group of 6. They are currently level 6 and in the Abbey in Krezk.
Some Sessions ago during St. Andral's Feast Lady Wachter took over Vallaki which included burning down the Burgermeister's Mansion thus killing everybody inside (staff plus Vallakovich Family). The Half-Elf Wizard, which felt sympathy for Lady Wachter helped them by throwing an additional Fireball at the building. Izek saw that but with most of the guards dead and Vallaki in chaos (I made the vampire spawns dead adventurers which Strahd had killed ages ago) he fled the town due to not seeing any possibility to survive this massacre. ("If he is alive, Izek Strazni flees the town to avoid a similar fate.")
Izek saw a party member supporting Lady Wachter to burn down his home, therefore killing his master. Now in Izeks Bond it says the following:
“I am loyal to my master, Baron Vallakovich, for he brought me into his home. I owe him my life, but he isn’t family.”
I'm thinking that Izek would definitely plan some vengeance on the party or at least the Half-Elf Wizard.
Because I am running a party of 6 people I beefed Izek up a bit - I gave him legendary actions to counter death through action economy - gave him second wind for a bit more perseverance, etc...
The obvious way of Izek planning his vengeance got me thinking about an epic boss fight against him. I considered the fact that Izek could have somehow made it to the amber temple and took a deal with a dark vestige. I had Seriach (the one with summon hell hounds) in mind, because this would fit Izek's ability to shoot fire from his arm. In this way I could provide an epic boss fight against him and counteract the rising level of the party.
What would you do with Izek in my situation? I'm open and looking forward to every kind of inspiration in the comments!

loading 05.001.SCP.archive@ diarc/mainlist/SCP-001.rtf…Item #: SCP-001 Object Class: Netzach Special Containment Procedures: N/A7 Description: SCP-001 is the designation for the planetary body known as Earth. Given that SCP-001 has existed for the entirety of human memory and written history, the anomalous improbability of Earth's nature as compared to all other planets in the observable universe investigated by the Foundation's TELLUS8 Program is widely regarded as "normal" within public perception. Personnel are to remind themselves daily of the anomalous nature of the planet, especially during times of perceived ennui in regards to their participation within the Foundation or when engaging in dissenting thought patterns. Personnel are to encourage one another to persevere through difficult workplace situations with the knowledge that the planet we inhabit is anomalous in its entirety, and actively resists the order of civilization with chaos and aberration. Doing so has increased both productivity and containment success rates, the latter of which by over 12% in the last five years. SCP-001-E1 is the designation for the remains of a spacecraft recovered during an archeological expedition in the Atacama Desert of Chile in 1946, led by American Paleontologist Dr. Hubert ███████. ███████ immediately reported his findings to the Society for American Archaeology, piquing the interest of a number of different parties.9 The remaining components of the ship's outer hull were excavated and found to be comprised of highly durable exotic polymers that appeared unaffected by time or exposure to the elements. Various dating methods have analyzed the material and yielded inconsistent results. Despite this, recovered information suggests the vessel was several billion years old. Large areas of SCP-001-E1 appeared to have been converted into makeshift livingspace, implying the vehicle was intact when it landed and did not crash upon its arrival. Additionally, remnants of effects such as clothing, electronics and furniture were recovered as well, all possessing anomalous materials and abilities that resisted normal wear to varying degrees. The full size of the vessel is unknown but considered to be large enough to contain a moderate population of humans, the remains of which presumably decomposed naturally, aside from POI-001, who was recovered from within SCP-001-E2. SCP-001-E2 is a set of 32 36 highly advanced cryogenic stasis pods that were discovered among the wreckage in a partially powered 'hibernation' mode when SCP-001-E2 was excavated. Of all the pods discovered, only one was still functional and contained [DATA PURGED PER O5 REQUEST], whose core tenets and general distrust of anomalous artifacts10 would establish the Foundation's presence on Earth as a force to contain aberrant objects, locations, and phenomena- beginning with those found inside SCP-001-E1. Also found among the rubble were several anomalous data storage devices that appeared effectively destroyed, despite being comprised of similarly resistant exotic materials as other items found inside SCP-001-E1, implying they may have been damaged intentionally. Analysis revealed the only salvageable information, recovered from a 2 cm2 fragment composed of an extremely compressed form of multilayered information medium, presented as a set of thin layers of vertically stacked sets of data. The documents recovered from the interpreted data were then translated from their original language, which was comprised entirely of Class I cognito hazardous glyphs that appear similar to the engravings found on SCP-093.11 These glyphs seem to cause a subjective "Rosetta Stone" effect in readers, allowing for full comprehension of the material regardless of previously known languages and/or reading level. Analysis of the language is ongoing. Recovered excerpts can be found in the attached file SCP-001 Recovered Materials Log.

2023.06.06 19:06 Outrageous_Muscle794 Won't the taxes destroy your income once FIRE ?

Hi I am new to this subreddit and I have a basic question that I think wasn't answered in the wiki or pinned post.
In Belgium you do not pay taxes when selling stocks if you do so as a good pater familias and if it's not your main job. But once FIRE it does become your main job right ? You will have to pay something like 40 to 50% of taxes on the income.
I saw a lot of people here saying that if you have 24k in expenses you will need around 25x times that ( 600k from which you take 4% if the average yearly return is 6%). But in reality you will have to pay income taxes and to get those net 2k, more than 3k will be needed (which is 900K in stocks), also if that takes around 15 or 20 years to get, the inflation will make that required amount even bigger...
Am I missing something ? Almost one million to live at what most likely will be the minimum wage by then, maybe it is necessary moving to another country once fire ?

2023.06.06 19:06 shinigasto Just finished silmarillion

Man it was a journey, it was a completely different style of writing than I'm used to. Miss a paragraph and you probably missed a new high king of noldor. I felt that this was a book made for re-reads.
Also one thing I noticed was it wasn't that difficult, sure I had to look up family trees every 2 pages but it really wasn't that difficult.
The names are very confusing, so many fin's. And the I think the description of events was a bit too little. I expected a bit more for war of wrath, morgoth's duel and many others but there's an entire chapter for geography
Also a few things -
1) Huan is probably one of the few good characters 2 )Sauron losing as a werewolf and turning into a vampire to escape was funny 3 ) feanor is an asshole 4 ) thingol is an asshole and a hypocrite 5 ) beren and luthien was an amazing story 6 ) throndor is a MVP
Also I have a few doubts, where does feanor ask for galadriel's hair, where are maiar of each valar mentioned. Is it the unfinished tales ?
I've already forgotten a few things tbh but overall an awesome read.

2023.06.06 18:56 PlayerZeroStart Recommended editions of Cyberpunk, VTM, CoC, and M&M?

I've been looking to get into different RPGs for a while now instead of just D&D, but I'm not sure which editions I should be looking at. I've bought the Pathfinder 2e rulebook and it came in today, but I'm also interested in Cyberpunk, Vampire the Masquerade (I loved Bloodlines), Call of Cthulhu, and Mutants & Masterminds you might recommend.
When it comes to Tabletop RPGs, I've always been far more interested in the "Roleplaying" part over the "Game" part. To me, the entire reason to play a TTRPG over a Video Game RPG is for the unique storytelling that you can only get from these sorts of games. If I wanted to mull over stats and optimize builds to fight ludicrously hard encounters, I'd play Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. That is to say, I'm looking for editions that are more about facilitating good and fun roleplay over crunching numbers or tight, balanced gameplay. And in fact, I specifically avoided PF1e for this very reason, as I've heard it's VERY number crunchy.
The popularity of an edition is also an important factor to me, as there's no point in spending the time to learn a new system if I can't find anyone to play with. Hell, part of the reason I stuck with D&D for so long was because of how easy it was to find other players. So I will happily stick with an edition that isn't the absolute best of its series if it means more opportunity to find other players.

2023.06.06 18:55 fauxedo On June 12th, /r/Steelers will join the site-wide initiative and going dark to voice our concern against Reddit's API changes.

Hey All,
The mod team here has decided to black out starting on June 12th for 48 hours in response to Reddit's API price changes and near enough killing of third-party apps. For those of you who are unaware, below I've pasted some information gathered from another participating subreddit for the site-wide scoop. I know as a community this single change affects an ever shrinking percentage of our user-base. However, we should have a say in how our forum, that we all have built and continue to build together, can be accessed and used.
If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them in the comments, and if anyone is looking for a branch community to fill in the gap - the Steelers Discord channel is linked in our wiki and is run by a former /Steelers mod.
-The Mod Team

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

2023.06.06 18:49 kitfistofangirl [F4M] Werewolf RP!

Hey! My name is Maddie, I’m 21 and I’d like to do a werewolf related RP. I was mainly thinking that your character could be a werewolf guy who took a liking to my character and turned her as to be his mate! We can work out the specifics once we start chatting!
The idea I was running with was mostly that your character is the alpha/leader of a pack of about twenty wolves that live in a farmhouse together, maybe running the farm to financially get by. Mine is a hunter that has killed about six of that pack so far and after being defeated in battle and turned by your character, he takes her back to his place to make her his mate instead of killing her. She wouldn’t really be a hunter, more of a freelance mercenary that does jobs for other wolves and vampires, though she’s a scientist doing this for money and free samples.
I’d imagine your guy’s main motivation for keeping mine alive could be because he sees her as a strong female, worthy of bearing his young and raising strong children.
I think character wise, your guy would generally see women as below him and he’d see their place as bearing and caring for children. I’d imagine he’d be forceful in the fact that he’d like Olivia to repopulate the wolves she took.
I RP over discord only!
If you’re interested please DM me! This will be open as long as the post is up!

Does anyone know if this list of nests is still valid please?
https://pkmngotrading.com/wiki/Where_to_Find_and_Catch_Scyther
Also, are the nests still around, or has everything been overwritten by the all the water pokemon for a week, and I should hold off trying til then?
Thankyou

2023.06.06 18:44 Lord-and-Leige 1.13 will be a mistake for showdown

I have over 1,000 hours in hunt. I believe 1.13 will be a terrible mistake for crytek and for showdown. They aren't listening to the community and instead just focusing on inflation. They need an item shop with daily items and weekly items, celebrity skins and of course a premium currency that sits on top of blood bonds. Blood bonds are great, a way to purchase cosmetic items but we need something that we can trade and make money from.
I just think 1.13 is going to make hunt showdown even less appealing. Especially with all the bugs that are currently in there. I've seen them and I've experienced them in my thousand hours Also, we need more Coldwell conversion uppercut skins and we need more nagamt skins.
When are vampires getting added to the game? That'll be cool.

2023.06.06 18:41 Interesting-Half3173 the death of collasal monsters

decided to pick up rise again as i put it down after being tired of the slow drip of them finishing up the content in the game ( might get daybreak unsure atm ) and playingthrough it i had a random thought and wanted to see what others thought.

basically it seems massive monsters are rarer and rarer in the monster hunter world with the only new one in recent times being Zorah Magdaros in worlds. and before that if i recall correctly was Dah'ren Mohran. i know in lore these monsters and likely more are still alive and just simply live in places the games dont take us to. but it seems there getting rarer and rarer. any ideas why?

i thought maybe hunters where hunting them till none were left but...

A in lore hunters are not about doing that and only hunt to protect people / kill problematic creatures ( which admitly some of them could be but most aren't ) or extremely dangerous creatures with a history of voilence ( which weirdly only like... 2 of the monsters in this group are and they live so far away from people i cant picture this is relevant for them )

and B despite we, the players killing 100's of thousands of them for armor and parts, in lore thats likely not whats happening since i doubt the exact same crisis is happening every single day for years upon years.

after i thought maybe we just aren't finding them as often but... yeah thats likely not it since there so massive we should at least be finding some marks of them here and there if they even so much as cross an area ( which in worlds at least we see of a few such monsters but none such in rise )

and only other idea i had is that maybe there just not causing as many issuses lately, which honestly makes sense. 99% of them live in remote far away areas and rarely attack anything manmade or even find us for that matter.
to give some examples:

Jhen only seems to get hunted because it mistakes dragonships as smaller dragons invading its space
ceadeus is only hunted because during its life its horn becomes so massive it trying to trim it down threatens to sink an island if not dealt with ( and honestly i doubt it would of, likely it was killed for scaring everyone on said island instead )

loa isn't even trying to do any harm, it just wants to run away from a bigger creature ( or the fatlis depending on what you think ) and only gets hunted because in its way is a fort

laviente far as i can gather is only hunted because not hunting it would likely result in the death of everyone on the planet because its basically a deviljhoe thats 1000x bigger and faster.

and last example dire marhalis because it attacks ships and destroys whole ecosystems by merely existing in them.

only ones i can't recall why we hunt them are the dalamara ( though i assume because someone saw it and the guide didn't want a creature that could level a moutain roaming freely ) and the goldbeard ceadeus since it's clearly not trying to releive itself of pain from its growing horn as it's a fully grown verison of the same monster.

any other reasons we aren't finding more of these creatures ( also i find it amusing only 2 of these are found in the water given that in real life water creatures tend to be bigger but we almost never fight anything that lives deep enough in the water to be that large despite it being possible in 3 games )
