I was diagnosed with GD in 2019 at 26 weeks and was lucky enough to be completely diet controlled. I was induced at 39 with some slight complications, but ultimately had a healthy baby boy. I am currently 16+5 with my second son and failed the 1 hr last Tuesday and went yesterday for the 3 hr. I just had a feeling I'd fail again and unfortunately just got the call that I did indeed fail. So I'm back again and a lot earlier than the first time around. I took the diagnosis hard the first time and threw myself a never ending pity party, but this time I feel OK since I was mentally prepared and knew the chances would be higher that I'd fail again. I'm just trying to keep a positive attitude and take it one day at a time. I'm just so bummed because I was starting to feel better and was looking forward to eating some of my favorite foods again. I still need to schedule the diabetes education class and pick up my supplies, but ugh this just totally sucks. I'm not looking for advice, I just wanted a place to complain with others who can relate.

Turns out you were right, I went to the doctor AND I DON'T HAVE CANCER, YAAY.
Turns out the lump I felt in my left ball was one or two cysts that don't even have to be removed, according to the doctor. However, this can't explain my lack of erection in the morning, (i have erection when I watch nudity, but i feel like it's not a full one always).
So the doctor like myself thought that my testosterone should be lower than expected. So he sent me to the lab and the norm range for testosterone was something like from 1 to 8.5, and might is 7, which is a lot closer to the higher norm.
So now we can't explain why I'm having ED in the morning. I will probably need to see another doctor for a second opinion. I need advice what to do. The only thing that was tested was total testosterone (total T).
So I asked the doctor a bunch of questions (however, I've leerned not to trust the first doctor I see in my country, so I probably need to get a second opinion, what do you think?).
I asked him if I could be having no erection due to heart problems and inability to pump blood, he looked at me and said it cant be like that otherwise I will have veiny legs with cramps of blood or something like that, I asked if it could be that I have female hormones or disbalance like a lot of estrogen? He said that is not possible as well.

My question to you is what I should do, I read somewhere that total T doesn't tell the whole picture and maybe I have to test free T as well, but the doctor disregard it.
He gave me some herbal stuff for erection and told me that that takes a long time to work. The other option was some kind of a blue pill that I take if I have a serious gf (i dont). I'm 25 afterall I shouldn't be taking blue pills?
I don't know what to do, if my testosterone level is ok, why am I a bit skinny and my muscles only look big during lifting (then small back at home), with a bit of belly fat despite lifting heavy weights, despite eating healthy and reducing alcohol to a minimum, not smoking at all, taking vitamins and zinc/magnesium (told this helps T).
If my testosterone level is ok, what else should I test?
I think my cortisol levels are high in the morning, because I feel anxious and stressed in the mornings (especially if i have a lot of things to do, but even if i don't, it's a weird feeling in my stomach).
Lastly, I want to thank u/doctorStrange1218 and u/wasthatitthen because without their replies I wouldn't have gone to the doctor, I had to re-read them a couple of times before going to the appointment.

I have a 6 year old neutered snowshoe male cat, 12lb, with really bad anxiety. He is so reactive, the sound of someone speaking that he doesn’t recognize outside of our place will send him to hide, and he has chewed his way through walls in his worst moments.
After many different things including intervention with a veterinary behaviorist, our veterinarian finally recommended we try fluoxetine.
The problem is it has absolutely killed off his appetite in ~3 weeks of use at 5mg. At first it made him eat a little less, but now it’s almost nothing. I can get him to nibble on a couple of crunchy treats, but even his favorite churu sticks are nothing to him today. I have tried warm tuna juice, cheese, different wet foods, etc. He’s typically a ravenous monster with food so I’m a bit worried. I went and ordered a few different senior-focused treats meant to encourage eating, and I’m currently boiling some chicken to mix with some plain rice in hopes he might like a bland protein.
I myself am on several antidepressants and I know the first few weeks it can mess with your appetite - is that the same with cats? I tried to call the vet but she’s out for 2 weeks and I don’t feel this is a full on emergency per se. My backup question was if I could possibly half his dose? I imagine at worst it wouldn’t cause harm but even at 3 weeks I don’t want to stop anything cold turkey. He seems extremely calm at the moment, but I also figured that’s a bit of a side effect. Would there be a danger in reducing his dose at least until his vet returns?
I just want to make sure he is a happy, healthy man.

I came out about a year ago and now I’m in my first serious lesbian relationship. I’ve been dating my girlfriend for a few months and I am really happy, we’re doing really well in most aspects but I’ve been struggling with self image and don’t know what to do.
I’ve always struggled with self esteem and my body in general and I think that was part of the reason it took me 23 years to realize I was gay, looking at other women almost always made compare myself and I did not have room to explore attraction or deeper feelings because of that.
When I met my girlfriend, I had already been going to therapy and working through those issues and I genuinely felt/feel better but I still have bad days.
The first time her and I tried to have sex I freaked out when I saw her naked and could not stop comparing myself to her, this obviously didn’t work out and it took a very long time for us to try again. As of now we’re not really struggling in that regard but sometimes I still feel bad about the way I look. It doesn’t really happen during intimacy but it comes up often.
For example, we went shopping a few days ago and it made me feel physically ill to see how small the things she was trying on were in comparison to mine. Shes like a size 2/4 and I’m a size 16.
One day she had me look through some stuff she was giving away and when I realized how tiny her shorts and jeans were I seriously felt like shit. And I don’t think it’s fair to her that I feel like this because she has never once said something negative about my body or my weight, she compliments me often and I genuinely feel like she finds me attractive but some days it’s just difficult.
I have always been a bigger girl and it’s always bothered me, it’s always been a problem. I’ve tried dieting and going to the gym before and it takes a huge toll on my mental health so what I do now is just try to eat healthy without obsessing about it and that has worked so far so that I don’t start spiraling.
I know how I get when my self image issues get bad and that’s something I don’t want to put my partner through. I don’t really want to talk to her about this because it’s a lot and it’s not her fault. It’s just hard to feel like she’ll never truly understand my struggle with fat shaming and similar things when she’s quite literally the beauty standard.
I’ve been with other women before and even if those kinds of thoughts have crossed my mind they weren’t as strong as they are with her. I can’t help but feel like I’m not attractive enough for her and it’s not that I have a fear she’ll leave me because of something like that (I highly doubt it, she’s not a shallow person) but I do feel like this is putting some stress on the relationship on my end and it’s noticeable sometimes. It feels extremely unfair to her and I don’t know if communicating this is a good idea or not.
In the past whenever we’ve discussed weight she’s said she’s okay with whatever I look like as long as I am comfortable. But that doesn’t make me feel any better. I don’t think she’s lying but being that neutral about it is somehow the opposite of reassuring. It feels like it’s too detached or something.
Anyway all I’m asking for is what should I do in this situation? Should I tell her how I feel so she can help me cope with it or do I solve it on my own?

Alright I’ll try to be clear about this so sorry about the long essay :/ Things you need to know first: my parents aren’t normal; my mom is BPD probably and my dad is a narcissist. To be honest Im not completely sure but I know they aren’t stable like ever. My eldest sister, sis1, is a psychiatrist yet very emotionally abusive (pits siblings against each other, always our parent’s golden child, manipulative, attention seeking, and likes to be in control of our lives). A few days ago a huge fight broke out between my dad and us (sis2, sis3, and I + my bro tried to help and take a neutral position) regarding financial matters, unfairness, unequal treatment…etc. I’ve always been aware of this issue and used to believe that if I can’t have my emotional needs met then I should at least have my financial needs met. So I’ve already brought up this issue on my own several times, but I would get scared after getting shouted at and shut down. My approach that day (during the fight) was less explosive than my siblings because I already knew what was going to happen and felt really sad since I especially don’t know how to deal with my father. My other siblings have their ways when asking for money or help or anything really. I can’t seem to unless I completely mask and manipulate which I’m not very good at doing almost times unless it’s necessary. Anyways on the day after my father called over sis2 and she told sis3 to come with. She went to him and he was interrogating her about her grades as usual and once he saw sis3 he also asked her. He doesn’t really ask it’s more like “I keep on seeing the three of you constantly spend w time with each other, and this isn’t healthy for your academic life. I wonder about your future and don’t see you studying. Life isn’t as wonderful as you think where you will live with unlimited internet access… We have had more experience…” He usually calls sis2 because she draws negative attention to herself in their eyes (of course unintentionally and because sis1 doesn’t like her and paints her in a negative light, like she is the devil and she preys on sis3 and I but that’s another topic to get into because she always does this with anyone including my cousin who she despises and believes strayed us from the right path into her control, bullshit) the reason my dad is interested is because of her fallen grades and lack of executive function (she has ADHD) (my parents believe she is supposed to get high grades, be neat blah blah cuz she is in med school) (all of us are except sis 3 and I are premed and we get almost the same grades as always so they think we are “good, independent kids” sometimes). Anyways I joined them and saw my dad just starting to eat this ice cream cake that has been left in the freezer and uncovered for a long while next to meats and spices since February. He asked if anyone wants some too, I said “No” in a shocked way and said “this has been in the freezer for so long! I’m sure it’s something close to rotten!” in a disgusted manner to be honest. He got defensive and said that ice cream doesn’t rot. Sis2 then came to the room after and was mad at me because I was inconsiderate and shouldn’t have behaved like that with him. That I could have enraged him and made him press on about her grades. I didn’t understand at all like how in the world was it related. I got really annoyed because it feels like I’m always on a leash whether it’s sis1, sis2, or my mom. It’s like any action is wrong. It made no sense to me like it was so trivial because I truly believe that isn’t the issue. There are a million other things making him already press on about grades and interrogate like how she has been sleeping in sis3’s room for the past week, how she is completely ambiguous about her grades, how she is tardy about exam times…etc. I also hate to say it but she is demanding and needy about certain reactions like if I don’t give her something specific she doesn’t recognize it and mocks me for it. She already has self deprecating humor sort of and strongly leans towards perfectionism regarding her looks. It’s hard being around her when she speaks about it all the time saying shit like we are so bald and ugly, we have a parallelogram facial structure, our genetics are fucked…etc. it’s so unhinged hearing it from her everyday and she completely denies any positive qualities it’s so damn weird yet she is needy and needs validation about her opinions, her looks, her letters, texts, hygiene. I kind of blew up at the cake matter like I’ve had enough because it’s so hard to make her see problems from my view and every time I try it is hard for me to articulate. She is also very analytical and hyper fixates on a lot of things. I don’t think she catches up on any emotional subtleties even though I always try to so they (sis2 and 3) feel better and comfortable around me. It just feels so unequal. I felt shocked hearing her say I was being inconsiderate. Was I really?

Some background on him: Joined the military right out of high school. Worked as an IT tech there for 8 years before getting out and moving back home. After he got out, he used the GI Bill to work towards his bachelor’s degree in MIS while the VA gave him a monthly stipend to cover all of his housing expenses. He drove for Uber Eats for extra cash before starting to work at a coffee shop, which is his first “real-world” job. He’s worked there for almost two years and is now a general manager. He works 50+ hours a week, which has taken a toll on him and is the reason why he quit a few weeks ago, but he agreed to continue working there until the end of June. He also took the semester off from school this summer. Because he took the semester off, he will not receive a housing stipend from the VA until he starts attending school again, meaning, as of last week, he’s been responsible for his full half of rent/utilities at our new (and quite expensive) apartment.
I’m frustrated because he suddenly quit this job with no back-up plan and after already deciding to take the semester off of school, meaning he’ll be unemployed in the matter of a few weeks and won’t be receiving any sort of financial assistance from the VA.
I completely revamped his resume and have picked out a handful of jobs to help him get started on the job-searching process, but he’s shown no interest. He’s applied to one job so far. He’s confident that he’ll be able to secure a remote, well-paying IT job in the next 3 weeks. I told him that the job market, ESPECIALLY for IT jobs and remote jobs, is horrendous right now and he’ll be lucky if his application is even looked at by a recruiter in the next few weeks, let alone go through the whole phone screening/multi-interview/offeonboarding process.
I just went through this whole process myself and he’s aware of this. It took me six months of nonstop job-searching and hundreds of applications to find an entry-level job in my field (healthcare) that still doesn’t pay even a fraction of what he’s expecting he’ll make.
I don’t think he’s depressed. He doesn’t seem depressed, but I know that that’s not always a good indicator. I don’t think he’s nervous or insecure. He’s a very confident person and is very good with people. He said he’s confident that he’ll be able to do well in interviews (even though he’s only ever done one low-stakes coffee shop interview in his entire life).
Last week, he mentioned that he’ll just start driving for Uber Eats again if he can’t find something. Didn’t specify for how long, or what the plan was after that, if there even is a plan after that. He’s also (semi-jokingly) mentioned asking his mom for a Salesforce (where she works) job if it comes down to it. But even then, I don’t think he realizes that connections aren’t everything, that Salesforce is a giant company that will absolutely be hard to get into, and that his mom has 30+ years of experience and two degrees under her belt that landed her that job. He hasn’t even graduated from undergrad and has only had one real-world job that isn’t even related to IT or Salesforce.
At this point, I don’t know whether he’s delusional, overly confident, or just unmotivated/lazy. I try to cut him slack because he works so many hours a week, but it’s so frustrating when he comes home from work and immediately cracks open a beer or pops an edible and starts watching TV or playing video games, rather than taking any sort of initiative towards this major, impending issue that’s only a mere few weeks away.
Another extremely concerning thing: last week, he, again half-seriously, said I should just started applying to jobs for him.
Prior to him saying that, I actually considered it just because I’m getting so annoyed about him not doing it himself. But hearing him ACTUALLY suggest it made me want to gag. I immediately put my foot down and said “Absolutely not.”
As for how he plans on paying for his share of expenses now that we’re living together, he’s said (in passing) that he has enough in savings. This is another thing that has concerned me over the course of our relationship: this savings account was set up for him while he was in the military and part of his paychecks were automatically deposited in it. When we first started dating, he (allegedly) had $27k saved up (he told me this when he was drunk and talking about how big of a diamond ring he could buy me when he proposes, so not sure if there’s any merit to that number or if he was just trying to impress me). But since then, for the past two years, he’s been saying he has no idea how much money is in there and that he needs to figure out how to log in and check. Last month, a statement was lying out in the open on the counter that said he now only has $13k. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t contribute any of his current paychecks towards his savings, and he’s said multiple times that he automatically pays off his credit cards with that account every month. This concerns me because he’s treating it like a checking account, rather than a savings account for future/emergency expenses, which is clearly the case since it’s dwindled down that much over the past two years. And now he’s planning on paying for all of his living expenses with it for the foreseeable future. I have no idea what he plans on doing if it ends up taking months to find a job (a very real possibility) and he ends up blowing through this account.
All of this—having no plan for the future, no career prospects or even desire to have a career (not just drive for Uber Eats) despite working towards a degree, taking a semester off while acknowledging that he may “not have the motivation” to go back, and draining his savings account/not having good financial planning skills—all at the age of almost 30 has me seriously reconsidering whether I feel secure continuing a relationship with him. It’s killed my mental attraction towards him because I now see him as someone who needs to be taken care of, rather than someone who’s my equal.
How do I say all of this to him without hurting his feelings?
Tl;dr My boyfriend abruptly quit his job with no plan for the future. Has no interest in applying to jobs, feels confident that he’ll land his ideal job in only a few weeks. Suggested that I apply to jobs for him. Generally has poor financial planning skills.

We have been doing TNR for some time now. I recently took in a kitten.
This small girl would not get out of the middle of the street even though cars would honk for her to move. ( so hard to watch & thankfully every vehicle stopped )
We noticed immediately that her head was tilted. She seemed happy & healthy otherwise. After a couple of weeks I noticed she was sleeping, a lot. As I payed close attention I noticed she was very off balance. I kept her with me day and night for fear that she’d tumble down the stairs. I had to help her eat and drink and wouldn’t take my eyes off of her.
In the meantime I made a appointment for the vet to look her over, give vaccines, and spay her. I was so scared she had a tumor, or, a neurological issue.
Turns out she had a vestibular syndrome/disease. ( If you google the condition it is really quite strange ) Comes on suddenly, and, most cats recover completely.
She is doing much better. Her energy is back, and, her appetite is as well.
Her coordination is still affected. ( at times she walks like she’s drunk, has a wobbly head, and, when she runs and plays her back legs aren’t quite caught up with her front half )
My question is ~ have any of you experienced this vestibular condition with your cat? Any safety tips?
I am already picking her up when she looks to jump up onto high furniture/counters/etc because she has landed on her back trying to jump up herself.
I get so scared that she will really hurt herself. ( she’s a very playful kitten )

I say this as a fat 6ft 1, 96kg 30 year old man.
The context is, my sister was eating cheesecake the other day (she's been whinging about being fat for months-repeatedly pulling her clothes tight in around her stomach and saying how she needs to go on a diet, do the whole couch to 5k thing, etc) . She hasn't and doesn't do any of this fitness stuff at all whereas i cycle every other day and play tennis every sunday for two hours. My sister is 5ft 2 (take my sisters exact height and weight with a pinch of salt) and is around 59-61kg (26 yrs old).
i said to my sister there's no point in her eating unhealthily and whinging afterwards. No one likes to hear that.
My mum happened to be walking by overhearing me talking to my sister and said she's ok to have the cheesecake not me because of her figure.
Tired really of being made to feel like sh*t- the other day at my tennis match, someone else on the court called me round and chubby- it came up in random conversation and what's worse is it was a random stranger who i didn't even know. I'm trying to be healthy and lose weight but modern day Life, working from Home its tough at times. I have tended to use food as an emotional crutch in the past but meeting with a friend who's got terminal cancer recently has put life into perspective and I needed to make a change.

I just read about Tim McGraw’s daughter taking ozempic to help her weight loss due to PCOS.
I then went down a rabbit hole..
I was randomly diagnosed with hard to treat hypertension at only 22. I’m on 3 different pills for it now and nobody knows the cause for it.
I work out so much and do intermittent fasting, starve myself, I’ve done it all!! And cannot lose weight! I workout and eat so healthy more than anyone I know but still have 15 lbs I just can’t lose.
Is there a correlation here in anybody’s opinion? I’ve always been on the hairy side since before puberty. I shaved my legs for the first time in 5th grade cause I was getting teased for it! But that was before puberty.
Anyone here get diagnosed due to their unknown caused hypertension?

I think this is a post that many need to read.
For a brief backstory, I am 24F, been going to OTF religiously since November of 2020. I have my CPT, GFI, and Nutritional Coaching certificates through ACE. I even worked for OTF for about a year before I moved states. I absolutely love OTF and have no complaint about my time there the last 3 years.
In the last year, I have actually fallen into a trap of feeling guilty when I can't make it into OTF at least 5 days a week. It affected my mood and self-image drastically, to the point that I would change all of my plans for the week just to fit in my classes, even if it kept people waiting for me to get back and ready to get to what we had planned. On top of this, I was in a caloric deficit when I shouldn't have been, and I refused to eat dessert or drink any alcohol simply because I was afraid of my hard work going to waste.
I moved states in May and started a job that requires I work on-site 40 hours a week in an office (I have a separate degree in Healthcare Administration). I was terrified of not being able to go to classes anymore, being off at 5 I either have to go after making dinner (7pm is the latest class here), OR I have to go at 5am (which means I can't see my husband in the morning because I'd have to go straight to work after class).
I had a conversation with my husband after breaking down about this when we first moved into our apartment, and he really made me realize just how obsessed I have been with OTF, and we made some adjustments to make me feel better while still hitting my goals. Being in an apartment with a gym, I understand this is easier for me than it may be for others, but I think this could help whether you're in the same boat as me or simply can't afford OTF unlimited (if you have another gym nearby):
  1. I downgraded my membership to 8/month and motivate myself to use my apartment gym 2-3x a week. I use templates from this subreddit to pre-plan my workouts, even switching between 2G and 3G.
  2. I made a google spreadsheet of the floor exercises I am confident in doing on my own, all that I have learned during my time at OTF and a few additions using gym equipment OTF doesn't have. I have the spreadsheet separated by Lower body, Upper body, Abs/Core, and Full Body. The night before I workout, I highlight a few in each category that I want to work on and stick to it once I get there.
  3. I follow the exact template from early intel for the tread and rower (My apartment just got a rower, same one as OTF uses) and then I do my own floor exercises since my gym doesn't have a TRX or BOSU ball. I like this because I can have my own "focus" as far as strength training.
  4. My husband comes with me to workout 1-2 times each week when I go to my apartment gym and I get to help him correct his form (he does his own strength training). It really is a whole new bonding experience and we have fun hitting the gym together, plus our commute is literally two doors over, lol.
This change hasn't been easy as I still feel somewhat bad about not being on my "normal" schedule, but these changes have helped me realize that I am fully capable of getting an effective workout outside of OTF if I put a little extra effort into planning, and I still get to go 2 days a week to get my group fitness class fix without breaking the bank and maintaining my mental health.
I have to remind myself that no matter how fit I get, no matter the amount of OTF workouts I complete, no matter the amount of workouts I skip, no matter what strict meal plan I try to stick to, there will come a time when I simply won't remember or care. The majority of us don't need to live to workout, we workout to have the ABILITY to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

I have a math degree, I am enrolled in remote Masters program for computer science, work remotely as developer. I wake up at 5am everyday and run 4 miles. I only leave my house to go grocery shopping but I can order groceries if I want to. I don’t see why this is “bad”. You can be productive and stay inside 24/7 this day in age. My blood work is great. I am introverted and don’t socialize but I’m content and I get to play videogames and play music no wife and kids. I lift weights at home and work on under desk treadmill. I eat healthy… I am socially withdrawn by choice. I communicate with others online.
I’m probably more productive than most people but a person looking in will just see a very fit guy that stays home all day.
Anyways wanted to let people know it’s not necessarily bad. You can make it work with our current technology.
What’s the difference if I go into office? I will just do the same thing: sit in front of a computer

His coat is quite healthy now And he seems happier with this formula. No digestion issues. I want to make sure he feels good, but paying $60 every two weeks is not really feasible for me. Amazon, Target Petco, Walmart are all at least $50/24lbs now. It used to be $42 at Walmart and now it's $60. Are there other formulas that are cheaper that he could eat?

Im a young healthy man of 33 yo, with adequate weight, regular exercise and healthy eating (vegetables, nuts, grains, no processed foods). And I just discovered I have high blood pressure (total: 260, LDL at 154).
I want to adjust my habits to try to tackle that high LDL, and I read soluble fibers is one of the ways to do it. Now, Psyllium Husk is a monster soluble food option, with around 80g fiber / 100g product taken.
But I'm afraid of what I've read on Drugs.com regarding de dangers of taking this food:
" Do not take psyllium for longer than 7 days in a row without a doctor's advice. Using a laxative too often or for too long may cause severe medical problems with your intestines."
So shall I consider it dangerous? Should I disregard it as a treatment for cholesterol without medical supervision ?

Trigger: Disordered Eating, Weightloss and venting.
So before I started medication my appetite was in the pit. My stomach had eventually shrunk due to low mood and stress and I couldn’t eat for a time without feeling sick, I thought I was pregnant but I’m not.
My therapist after trying to ask about it and did some tests said I probably suffer with disordered eating that has been more prevalent due to a collection of personal circumstances and my AuDHD.
But I missed last month’s monthly. Before I even realised my medication was decreased and then put back up when my doctor realised I lost 6lbs in about 2.5 weeks.
After adjusting the medication, and being back on it for a week I’ve taken my weight. In 5 weeks I’ve lost a stone.
I fucking hate having this, it’s just one thing after a-fucking-nother. I was getting better, I was in therapy, I was working through my stuff, trying to heal and then I’ve been thrown a fucking curveball. My eating has always been restrictive but not to this degree and I just feel like I’m never gonna get a break.
It’s not entirely the medication, I can tell it’s the disordered eating but I’m really scared because the medication is working, but I’ve not had my period in 50 days and I’ve gone down a size in clothes. The medication is really helping and I don’t wanna stop taking it but I know it isn’t healthy.
But if I’m not taking it I’m gonna be unmedicated and I don’t wanna go back to that, I’m coping so much better emotionally on it and now my body decides to have something wrong with it.
I’m healthy, I like my body, I’m not allergic to anything, I don’t even have hay fever and I’ve never been under or overweight, I’m active and go gym 2-3 times a week. I’m fine, and now when it’s all going good, this bloody happens.
I’m so done with this. Now I know why my mate says there’s a difference between mental health and being mentally ill.
Edit: also doesn’t help that when my pharmacist did my titration and I told her about the change in medication and prescriber’s concerns she said “I don’t know what you want me to say, it isn’t hard to just eat more”
