Reddit is deliberately killing third-party apps. If you use Apollo, RIF, BaconReader, or essentially any Reddit application other than the official Reddit app, you will no longer be able to do so come July 1st.

By implementing comically exorbitant fees for their previously-free API (the technology that apps use to exchange data with the site) Reddit has taken steps to force use of the official Reddit app, mobile browser, or nothing when using the site from mobile. This is likely in advance of its widely-rumored upcoming IPO.

This significantly hinders the great many people who find the official Reddit app to be bloated and difficult to use. It is also a harsh blow for accessibility, with Reddit flatly restricting the ability of blind users to access the platform thanks to its poor first-party app. While Reddit has been creating and abandoning Talks, creating and abandoning RPAN, and fine-tuning silly avatars and award icons, they have left accessibility and community health in the dust.

What does this mean for /TwoXChromosomes?

Many subreddits are choosing to "black out" to protest Reddit's decision. While /TwoXChromosomes supports protests of Reddit's deeply harmful corporate greed, we prioritize the wellbeing of our community above all else and believe it's important that the subreddit stay operational for you to use.

As moderators, when we face the large and fast-moving queue in /TwoXChromosomes, the official Reddit app can be nonsense to moderate with when compared to far more functional third-party apps. The same comment removals and bans that can be quickly and easily done in RIF or Apollo can take longer and be more difficult in the official app. While Reddit has promised to add and streamline official app functionality, the history of moderating on Reddit is the history of hearing admins promise positive development and not follow through. We have strong reason to believe that Reddit will not prioritize the health of our community, or anything other than shareholder interests.

While you can join us in calling on /Reddit to not take away the tools we use to browse and maintain their site, you can also help the mod team here at /TwoXChromosomes. Please click "report" on any rule-breaking comments you see, to ensure we can find them since it'll be harder for us to do now. You can modmail us to bring something very prominent or very vile to our attention. If you use Reddit just from your desktop, or are okay with moderating slowly and clumsily from a phone, please apply to become a mod. Thanks to our reduced ability to moderate, the subreddit will very likely become a worse and more uncomfortable place to be until we can figure out how to fill those gaps without support from the admins.

2023.06.06 18:06 windpipethrowaway I (20F) don't know what to do with my situationship. (21M)

!fake names, burner account, not my story!
I (20F) and a friend of mine, Sorin (21M) have been talking for about two months now. We're on "situationship" status level, but I'm not sure if I really like him or not. He's expressed that he has deep feelings, and all of our friends know this too.
I can't tell if I have genuine feelings for him or just the idea of him/a relationship. (pressure from family and friends may be an option too as they all want us to get together)
I got broken up with about three months ago, and I have a strong feeling that I'm still not fully over my ex. Not sure if it's my ex that i'm not over, or it's just the fact that I can't imagine myself doing "couple things" with other people. This especially makes me worry as my gut is telling me that nothing good is going to come out of getting into a relationship with Sorin because of the fact that my last relationship left a huge hole in how I saw/felt love. Everytime I think of doing "couple things", I get all excited and would die to have that again but I can't bring myself to feel anything if I do it with anyone else. Generally imagining of doing this makes me so happy, but imagining doing it with someone specific makes me ick a bit.
Sorin is well aware that I got out of a breakup recently and that I need time. I've also told him that I am not ready for a relationship, not mentally/emotionally stable or available for him. So he knows all of this and is well aware in case you think he doesnt know, and he also still wants to wait for me despite knowing all of this.
We've both met each other's families, and we've gone out on a few dates now. I just don't know if I want to stay with him and see this through into an actual relationship.
He's not the best looking but definitely a pretty decent guy, though I don't know if i'm attracted to him enough to fully commit to the relationship, if that makes any sense? In most cases, he is my type however a few of my "more important" traits that I look in people I date, he doesn't seem to have.
One of my friends gave me the advice of seeing it through till we get into a relationship, and see how things turn out because from what i've told her, she thinks that he brought the smile back on my face after the breakup. And she told me that if the relationship doesn't go well, breaking uo is always an option.
I just need opinions on what to do because I'm stuck and really don't want to hurt or disappoint anyone, especially Sorin.
TLDR:: Been in a situationship for about a month and a half now, and Sorin (21M) knows that i've recently come out of a relationship (three months ago). He knows that i am not ready for a relationship any time soon and am not emotionally or mentally stable for one. Despite this, he still wants to wait for me which led into the situationship. We've established we are interested in each other, and i'm sure he's more interested than I am. I'm not sure if I have feelings for him or for the idea of him (or pressured into liking him because of family driends wanting us to get together) I just want advice on what I should do, for ex should I stay or cut this off?

Now, let me provide you with an update on the case involving the person that scammed my loaned items, the individual who callously abused my trust and stole the valuable gear I had loaned him. Determined to seek justice, I turned to the vigilant and dedicated team at RuneWatch for assistance. They guided me through the process of gathering solid evidence and provided invaluable advice on how to proceed.
I must emphasize the tremendous amount of time and effort it took to compile irrefutable evidence against you... The RuneWatch team showed unwavering and unbiased commitment in thoroughly examining my evidence to ensure a fair judgment. Their dedication to maintaining the integrity of the game and protecting its players is truly commendable.
However, I must also shed light on a disappointing aspect of this ordeal. When I reached out to the Old School RuneScape team for assistance, I encountered a roadblock. It is disheartening to realize that as a player, I do not have direct access to such important information. The apps are Badoo, Bumble , happn, OkCupid, POF, Tinder, Woo. Here are the results after a month of being on these platforms.
Badoo: 0 likes, 0 matches Bumble: Got superliked by an obese girl whom I'm not interested in romantically but I liked her anyways because I could be friends with her. She let the match expire despite spending money on the superlike. happn: 0 likes, 0 matches OkCupid: 0 likes, 1 match. I can't text her because her inbox is full and women almost always never text first. POF: Literally no one to swipe on. Nobody uses that in my region Tinder: 1 like from a profile without any photos of the face. 3 matches none of whom texted me once (i made the first move because obviously) Woo: This is the worst of them all. Apparently I have 12 likes. However the app never recommends people that have liked me. How do I know this? Because I've only swiped left 3 times or something. It's just a manipulative shitty algorithm to get me to buy their premium service so I can see who liked me and then I get to swipe their profiles.
For context, I'm not ugly. I like to believe I'm slightly better looking than average. I'd rather myself 6.5/10 with 5 being average.

2023.06.06 18:05 1vh1 Founder has no-showed for the past 6 tech update meetings.

I am the tech lead at our small startup, and one of my responsibilities is to keep our founder, who is more focused on the business side of things, apprised of our technical progress. We have a weekly standing update meeting scheduled, but for the past two months, the founder has missed every single one. Each time, he sends me a text afterwards apologizing and promising to catch up the following week. Unfortunately, the pattern continues, and I'm starting to feel frustrated and uncertain about how to approach this situation.
I understand that founders are often busy and have numerous responsibilities, but this lack of consistent communication is affecting our progress and hindering our ability to align our technical efforts with the business strategy. Generally any changes in buisness strategy are communicated unilaterally, and we just have to change tech strategy to meet his request. I want to find a way to address this issue without causing any tension or strain within the team.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation in their startup? If so, I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to approach this with our founder. How can I effectively communicate the importance of these meetings and ensure that they are prioritized on their end?

And today I’m mostly confused and sometimes I feel like the world is falling in on me. I don’t really remember everything and at times I don’t remember anything lol. Could be staring you straight in the face on a 2 min conversation and say wait what. I place things in random areas at times so I won’t forget it and poof all of a sudden it’s gone and placed in an entirely different spot. Aside from all of that life’s been interesting to say the least, like as if life wasn’t already hard. But none the less I am ultimately grateful to be back here on earth with everyone and get to share more stories as time goes on. And the greatest part of it all, I may not remember the exact words or conversations that were said but I’ll remember the moment almost like a mental picture and that’s all I really wanted. And here we are still trying to strive and achieve more. I think every single one of us is fucking amazing!! I’m just out here 3 brain cells strong tackling life, 1’s for walking, 1’s for talking, and 1 sometimes thinks but likes to join in on the talking part lol so it’s a process but I’m figuring it out. 1 day at a time.

When we start relationships, we are often hopeful. NRE (New Relationship Energy) is a helluva drug...
We see wonderful possibilities of what our new connection/s could become (Beginning).
We fantasize about reaching equilibrium with this set of people and riding along the plateau (Middle) of perfectly stable relationships with exactly the right amount of spontaneity, kink, etc.
But we so rarely allow ourselves to consider the End. What may that look like? How do we un-entangle? Each Dyad, 2 person relationship, will face their own unique challenges as they go through this, if they go through this.
When I think of my serious Partner and I and our entanglement, I think of our children. They are close. Our youngests who are 6 months apart have a relationship that is independent or ours.
What would it look like if he and I split up? What would it look like if he and I need to continue to carve out time for our children to be together if we no longer wish to be?
I don't have answers to these questions, but I am asking the questions. I'm not idealizing and thinking We'll be together forever. No need to consider any other possible futures.
That could happen. We could be together forever, but we *can't" know that. 2023.06.06 18:04 skacey CMV: - The predominant Hiring Systems in the US incentivize dishonesty and reduce viable candidates from most positions

Over the last several years, I have worked both as a hiring director and applicant many times for both billion dollar corporations and mid sized companies. I have been on both sides of the process, but to be fair, I am not an HR generalist or expert, so most of my experience does not include direct knowledge of those processes.
My experience as a hiring director at three different companies was that new positions would attract a large number of candidates, but very few would make it through the pre-screening process. I would see 2-4 applications in the first week, and those often had major disqualifying factors. For example, a perfect candidate, with all of the qualificaitons, but they lived outside of the country when the role was for an in person position. It was not at all uncommon for me to request that HR send me every applicant so that I could hand-screen the resumes.
My experience as an applicant was equally frustrating. Despite meeting most of the qualifications for positions, it would take 50 or more applications to net a single interview. For the interviews that I would get, companies act as though you have specifically selected them out of all of the companies and have a burning desire to work for that company.
These systems are so flawed that a massive industry of recruiting companies have popped up to act as a facilitator in the hiring process. These companies scan job boards for positions and duplicate the job postings already provided by companies. In my experience, most of these recruiters are only slightly more qualified than a junior HR generalist and rely on scripts to generate leads for both applicants and hiring managers. They provide very little service and appear to rely on volume and arbitrage to make money (the difference in what a company will pay for a roll and what an applicate will accept).
There are also entire industries that promise to re-write your resume to gain more leads, but most of their advice is contradictory (no more than two pages vs add as much as you can to make it through the screening process), often they use canned templates, have vague advice, or ask candidates to fabricate tangible accomplishments for jobs where that really isn't an important factor.
Why do I believe that these systems incentivize dishonesty? - Most of the professionals in the HR space have a long list of do's and don't's when it comes to resumes, applications, and interviews. Applicants with even minor gaps in employment (30 days seems to be the common cutoff) are encouraged to hide or obfuscate that information, or risk instant disqualification. Applicants are discourages from disclosing any "reason for leaving" that is not positive (promoted, growth, new opportunity). Applicant's are encouraged to use scanning sites and software to "taylor" their skills and accomplishments to match the role applied.
At the same time, applicant's see an extremely poor return on their invested time for these efforts. If you must spend an hour on every application only to receive a 2% chance at an interview for a qualified position, that investment begins to change how the applicant approaches the problem. Some applicants crank up the volume regardless of their fit to the role simply because it is easier. This applies even more pressure on the HR teams that then resort to even more stringent screening, and even lower throughput for the process.
Add to this that most companies also use separate application sites that require users to create dozens of duplicate accounts and passwords. A significant number of these sites also force users to divulge disqualifying information even when that information is protected. There is no law that says they cannot ask, and many professsionals will simply tell you to skip those questions, but that is impossible when it's a webform with a required field or drop down (back to encouraging applicants to lie to be considered)
So, what would change my mind? Information about the application processes that invalidates one or more of the above statements. That doesn't mean I chose the wrong word, used the wrong term, or made a semantic mistake, but that there is a tangible gap in what I understand or a fact that I just got wrong.
