2023.06.06 19:11 xc75_Riven What to do with Izek - Post Burgomaster

Hi, I'm running CoS for a group of 6. They are currently level 6 and in the Abbey in Krezk.
Some Sessions ago during St. Andral's Feast Lady Wachter took over Vallaki which included burning down the Burgermeister's Mansion thus killing everybody inside (staff plus Vallakovich Family). The Half-Elf Wizard, which felt sympathy for Lady Wachter helped them by throwing an additional Fireball at the building. Izek saw that but with most of the guards dead and Vallaki in chaos (I made the vampire spawns dead adventurers which Strahd had killed ages ago) he fled the town due to not seeing any possibility to survive this massacre. ("If he is alive, Izek Strazni flees the town to avoid a similar fate.")
Izek saw a party member supporting Lady Wachter to burn down his home, therefore killing his master. Now in Izeks Bond it says the following:
ā€œI am loyal to my master, Baron Vallakovich, for he brought me into his home. I owe him my life, but he isn’t family.ā€
I'm thinking that Izek would definitely plan some vengeance on the party or at least the Half-Elf Wizard.
Because I am running a party of 6 people I beefed Izek up a bit - I gave him legendary actions to counter death through action economy - gave him second wind for a bit more perseverance, etc...
The obvious way of Izek planning his vengeance got me thinking about an epic boss fight against him. I considered the fact that Izek could have somehow made it to the amber temple and took a deal with a dark vestige. I had Seriach (the one with summon hell hounds) in mind, because this would fit Izek's ability to shoot fire from his arm. In this way I could provide an epic boss fight against him and counteract the rising level of the party.
What would you do with Izek in my situation? I'm open and looking forward to every kind of inspiration in the comments!

2023.06.06 19:11 Next-Step-In-Life Ingram Micro Adobe Disaster - Alternatives

I've been with Ingram since 2003 or 2004, somewhere around there. We purchased small quantities of products and in 2012 we expanded, grew and started doing easily 50k a month in sales for wholesaling with Ingram.
We noticed in 2015 they started going down hill in their support, customer service and their microsoft support as well. Not uncommon you call up any number and you could hear chickens, scooters and yelling in the background causing all kinds of grief. Tech support was trash and we wouldn't hear from anyone for weeks at a time. Eventually we had to ask for a resolution spread sheet to determine when a ticket was put in and when it actually got addressed and resolved. It was WEEKS. So...
In 2020 we moved our Microsoft to Pax8.
In 2022 we moved out AWS to Pax8. ( lot of fighting for no reason at all )

And now Adobe. We have a couple dozen clients on Adobe and are satisfied with the product but then AGAIN Ingram is the problem. They are literally losing orders. Not just oh we forgot, but complete disappearances of orders.

In one of our clients:
2 orders placed in March, CHARGED to our Credit Card (I hate terms) and paid in full. We have the receipts, the PO and the invoice.... and you log in today and the licenses aren't even there like they expired and failed to renew. Contacted Ingram and they have NO RECORD at all of a PO, email etc. I had to SEND the rep the info and they wanted to CHARGE ME AGAIN for something I already paid for. I have the receipts, the bank statements and the "FUFILLMENT" invoice, yet, poof like a fart in the wind.

I NEED:
A new adobe wholesaler. I can no longer tolerate Ingram, their violent level of incompetence and their inability to fulfill any order. I've reached out to the reseller helpdesk and they just recommend I contact the wholesaler again, problem is, I have done that so many times but nothing happens.
I need to speak to an Adobe Executive, a different wholesaler or buy direct from adobe with reseller pricing but I want out of Ingram.

2023.06.06 19:10 noragil04 How should I design a mask for a veteran? (Tw for talk about death and different trauma. Not in depth)

So I’m working on a game where you play as a dead child making their way through the afterlife. Along the way they meet various souls with some kind of trauma that they have to help heal from. Every soul wears a mask, a cloak, and broach, and the designs of each of these characters reflects theirs life, but also their trauma. For instance, the child who was bullied liked to hide in the woods, and was eventually killed out there, so she wears a mask of wood with branches. The woman who was isolated her entire life became fascinated with space as it’s also so isolated, so her mask is the crescent moon. I currently have seven of eight of these souls designed, at least in concept. I don’t need an eighth souls per-say, but I like even numbers. I was a bit stuck on what kind of trauma I could represent, and eventually I came up with military trauma. Now I just need a design. I can get the cloak and broach, but I have no idea what to do for a mask. Is there anything involved with the military that could be converted to a simple mask? Any shape is alright, as long as it’s relatively simple. The design of the game is reminiscent of Earthbound/Undertale type games, so I’m pretty restricted in details. Any other ideas for souls are welcome! The current list is abandonment, bullying, isolation, problems at home (focus on laughing through the pain), pressure to succeed, addiction, and depression.

2023.06.06 19:09 waytohowto How to Make Page on Instagram and Earn Money

How to Make Page on Instagram and Earn Money So you want to make money on Instagram, do you? Well, you've come to the right place. Instagram influencers and content creators are raking in cash these days, and you can too. All you need is a phone, an Instagram account, and the drive to build an engaged following. It may take time, but stick with it and soon you'll have brands reaching out and offering you money to promote their products to your loyal fans.
The key is finding your niche and creating content that provides value to your target audience. Once you've built up your followers, you can make money through sponsored posts, product placement, affiliate links, and selling your own digital products. While it may seem like an impossible dream, many regular people just like you are earning a full-time living from Instagram. If they can do it, so can you!
In this article, I'll walk you through step-by-step how to build an Instagram audience, create content that converts followers into customers, and partner with brands to start earning an income. The possibilities are endless if you put in the work. So what are you waiting for? Let's get started!
How to Make Page on Instagram and Earn Money
How to Create an Instagram Page To start earning money on Instagram, you first need to create an account and build up your followers. Here's how to get started:
Choose a username and profile photo. Pick something simple and memorable that represents your brand or interests. For your photo, use a clear image of yourself smiling or a logo.
Write an engaging bio. Share a little about yourself or your business in 150 characters or less. Let your personality shine through and give people a reason to follow you.
3.Post high-quality content. The key to gaining followers is posting eye-catching photos and short videos that people will like and engage with. Post a mix of content that educates, entertains or inspires your target audience.
Use popular hashtags. Hashtags help people discover your content. Do some research to find the most popular hashtags in your niche. Use a mix of broad hashtags (like #fashion) and more specific ones (like #ethicalfashionblogger).
Engage with your followers. Like and reply to your followers' comments. Check out the profiles of people who like and comment on your posts. Follow them back and engage with them. People will appreciate your interest in them.
6.Collaborate with other influencers. Work with influencers in your niche to cross-promote to each other's audiences. You can do shoutouts, reposts, takeovers or create content together. Collaborating is a great way to gain new followers fast.
Go live or do Stories. Posting live video, Stories or IGTV is a great way to engage with your followers in real time. Let people get to know the real you by broadcasting live or sharing quick snapshots of your day. Your followers will love the behind-the-scenes access.
With time and consistency, you'll gain more followers and start to earn money through sponsorships, product promotions or affiliate links. Building an engaged following on Instagram takes work, but with the right strategy you'll be making money from your account before you know it!
Build Your Followers and Engagement To start earning money from your Instagram page, you need an engaged following. Here are some tips to build your followers and boost engagement:
Post high-quality content. Share eye-catching photos and short, interesting videos that show off your skills or knowledge. Post consistently, at least 3 times a week. Use relevant hashtags to help people discover your posts.
Engage with your followers. Like and comment on their posts. Reply to their comments on your posts. Ask questions to start conversations. Follow them back. Your followers will be more engaged if you engage with them.
Run contests and giveaways. Offer a free product or service to your followers. Ask them to like, comment, and tag friends to enter. This exposes your page to new potential followers and keeps your current followers active and engaged.
Collaborate with other influencers. Reach out to influencers with a similar audience and follower count. Collaborate by sharing each other’s content or creating content together. Cross-promote to each other’s followers. Collaborating is an easy way to gain new followers.
Use Instagram stories and live videos. Post casual, behind-the-scenes stories and live stream videos. Your followers will get to know the real you and connect on a deeper level. Stories and live videos also rank higher in the Instagram algorithm, so more of your followers will see your posts.
With time and consistency, your followers and engagement will grow. Keep providing value to your audience and they'll keep coming back. Before you know it, you'll have built up an engaged following and be on your way to earning money from your Instagram page!
Make Sponsored Posts and Product Promotions Once you’ve built up an engaged following, you can start making money from your Instagram account through sponsored posts and product promotions. Brands will pay influencers to promote their products to their followers. The more followers and engagement you have, the more you can charge for sponsored content.
Find Brands to Partner With Search for brands that match your account’s theme and esthetic. Reach out to them expressing your interest in a collaboration. Be professional and highlight your follower count and engagement stats. Some brands may contact you first if they’re interested in tapping into your audience. Negotiate the best deal for sponsored posts, stories, and IGTV videos. Get everything in a written contract before creating and posting any promotional content.
Be Transparent According to FTC guidelines, you must disclose when content is an #ad or #sponsored. Be upfront with your followers that a post is promotional to build trust. Followers can spot disingenuous ads from a mile away, so only promote products you genuinely like and would use yourself.
Post High-Quality Content Treat sponsored content like any other post. Use eye-catching photos and videos, share details about the product, and express your honest opinion. Seamlessly weave the promotion into your regular content so it doesn’t seem out of place. High-quality, authentic-feeling promotional content will get the best engagement and results for the brand, increasing the likelihood of future collaborations.
Track Performance See how your followers respond to the sponsored content. Monitor metrics like likes, comments, saves, clicks, and conversions. Share the results with the brand so they see the impact of their investment. Strong performance numbers give you leverage to charge higher rates for future promotions.
With an engaged following and high-quality content, you can make a lucrative income through Instagram product promotions and sponsorships. Be authentic, transparent, and track your performance to build successful long-term partnerships.
Sell Products Directly Once you’ve built up an engaged following on Instagram, you can start selling products directly to your audience. This is a great way to monetize your account and turn your passion into a business.
Find products to sell Think about products that would genuinely interest your followers and align with your account’s theme. Some options include:
-Physical goods: T-shirts, phone cases, jewelry, etc. featuring your account’s brand or related designs. You can have these manufactured and ship them yourself or use a print-on-demand service.
-Digital downloads: Ebooks, online courses, graphics, or other digital files your followers would find useful. These are easy to sell since there’s no physical product to ship.
-Promoting other brands: If you have a large, loyal following, brands may pay you to promote their products to your audience. Only do this if it’s a good fit and you genuinely like the product. Your followers will be able to tell if you’re being inauthentic.
Set up an online store You’ll need a way to sell your products on Instagram. Some options:
-Link in your bio: The simplest option is to put a link to your online store in your Instagram bio. When people click it, they’ll be taken to your store to shop.
-Stories and posts: Share photos and videos of your products in your Stories, posts, and IGTV. Include a link for people to purchase.
-Shoppable posts: If you have a business profile, you can tag products in your posts to make them instantly shoppable. Followers can buy right from the post.
-Sell through a third party: Use a service like Shopify, Etsy, or Teespring to easily set up an online store. They handle the logistics so you can focus on your account and products. You get a percentage of each sale.
Selling products through Instagram does require effort and patience. But by choosing the right products, setting up a seamless shopping experience, and continuing to build your audience, you can turn your account into a successful business. Stay authentic, keep improving, and your followers will become loyal customers.
Other Ways to Earn Money on Instagram Once you’ve built up an engaged following, there are several ways to monetize your Instagram account. Here are a few options to consider:
Promote Products If you have a product or service to sell, Instagram is an ideal platform to promote it to your target audience. Post photos and videos of your product in action, share customer reviews and testimonials, and link to your website or online store in your bio for easy purchasing. Offer exclusive discounts and coupon codes to your Instagram followers to drive more sales.
Become an Influencer With a large, loyal following, you can work with brands to promote their products to your audience. Negotiate sponsored post deals where you post about a product in exchange for free merchandise or payment. Be authentic in your promotions and only work with brands you genuinely like and would use yourself. Your followers will appreciate your honesty.
Sell Shoutouts Once you reach 10,000 followers or more, you can charge other Instagram users for shoutouts to help them gain more visibility and followers. Post a photo of the other user's product or service and give them a glowing shoutout in your caption. Be upfront that it's a paid promotion so your followers don't feel deceived. Shoutout pricing depends on your number of followers and engagement.
Offer Consulting Services If you've built a successful Instagram account, especially in a specific niche, you can offer consulting services to help other businesses and influencers do the same. Provide guidance on content creation, hashtag strategy, influencer collaborations, and more. You can charge between $50 to $500 per hour for social media consulting services depending on your experience and expertise.
Sell Stock Photos If you have a photography-focused Instagram account, you can sell licenses for your photos to brands, websites, and other media. Watermark your photos and include a link to your stock photo portfolio in your bio. Sites like Shutterstock, iStock, and Alamy allow you to upload your photos for sale and take a percentage of the profits. 2023.06.06 19:08 Future_Vehicle_8307 22 Blue in 2022: 'THE QUICK LIST'

22 Blue in 2022: 'THE LIST'

Build Supermajorities of Democrats in the US House and US Senate

Here’s ā€œ22 Blue in 2022: ā€˜A Quick Listā€™ā€:
  1. Florida 2. Ohio 3. Kansas 4. North Carolina 5. Kentucky 6. Arizona7. South Carolina 8. Georgia 9. Texas 10. Michigan 11. Nevada 12. Pennsylvania13. Missouri 14. Wisconsin 15. Iowa 16. Arkansas 17. Oklahoma 18. Indiana19. Colorado 20. Alabama 21. South Dakota 22. North Dakota
The 2022 Midterm Election is the most important midterm of our lifetime.Democrats must behave as if our lives depend on this midterm, because our future depends on the outcome.
ā€We the peopleā€ must deny the Republican party political power at every level of government for decades to come ā€œin order to create a more perfect union.ā€ With 48 States having some statewide contest(s), November 8th, 2022 is our best chance the Democrats will get to do that for the rest of this decade, at least.
ā€The Listā€ encourages the election of a Democratic Supermajority in the US Senate in 2022. This is the best chance we will have to create a Democratic Supermajority in both Chambers of Congress for the remainder of this decade. This midterm could be a devastating loss for the democrats if good patriots ignore this election. If Americans of good conscience band together instead, we could could begin the exile of the Republican party from power, not for years, but for decades to come.
ā€œThe Listā€ is a set of suggestions about where to focus collective activism today.
The election of Democratic Supermajorities to both chambers of the US Congress is the best outcome we can strive towards in the 2022 Midterm Election for many reasons. Among them: breaking the decade of gridlock in Congress, supporting President Biden’s agenda, and his re-election in 2024. My personal favorite is that this could commence the decades-long political banishment of the GOP from power, which the Republican Party so richly deserves.
The Republican party has proved itself treasonous on many levels. They are traitors to Humanity by supporting Trump. Traitors to the Nation for supporting Putin. Traitors to the government and betrayers of the constitution through their apologies for the 1/6/21 insurrection. To safeguard our country and the world, we must block the Republicans from power at the ballot box, at all levels of government, for at least a generation.
Political game playing may be inevitable among humans. Change the numbers, and then change the rules, if not the game. Cynical refusal to play at this time in history cedes power to NAZIs manipulated by Active Measures. That is a surrender to crypto fascism, not radical thinking, mere cynicism, or hipsterism.
In 2022, Patriots must unify to crush the Republican Party at the ballot box. We can defeat them in every State, at every level. We need the biggest turnout at the voting booth of any Midterm ever. We need to raise more money for candidates and organizations than we did during the entire 2020 campaign season if we are to accomplish this. We need to do this in the next six months.
This is what a ā€œBlue Tsunamiā€ REALLY looks like.
Electing a Democratic Supermajority in Congress is our hope for the future and retribution for America’s enemies. ā€œ22 Blue in 2022ā€ is a roadmap to the beginning of that journey. ā€œ22 Blue in 2022ā€ is our war plan. ā€22 Blue in 2022ā€ is our electoral battle cry. ā€œ22 Blue in 2022ā€ is a way forward out of gridlock, a way to non-violently thwart those who would poison the body politic with their hate.
If we don’t try this hard in 2022, Trump will go unpunished and metastasize by 2024.
Resist In Power, my sisters, my brothers, and my others.
Resist Together, and elect a Congressional Supermajority in 2022!

How to go about joining?
You need to provide at least the following information:
Is this safe? Will I lose my number? (You can skip this part if you trust me?)
There's a recent post on a single person who lost their number due to an unresponsive group administrator. While it is an unfortunate incident, these happen once in a blue moon and I've not seen this ever happen during my 3 years of trawling this subreddit. Admittedly, there's an inherent risk with a group plan like this.
Cricket sends you too many text messages over the most minor of changes to the account (even device changes). As an added assurance, Cricket sends everybody in the group:
Two text messages to remind that payment is due if there is an outstanding balance (48 hour and 24 hour mark) One text message every time a payment is made to the account. If payment isn't made by the due date, you can always go down to a shop/store and get your line out of the group plan. Once the due date is up, Cricket suspends the account (which is what happened for the guy above).
Personally, I've been running cricket groups for over 4 years. I'm very responsive to messages (unless I'm on a plane) and bills are almost always paid on time. Many Redditors here can vouch for myself. I also do not take any security deposit and take the responsibility of finding 4 members myself.
My Old Posts (which have comments on them for reference)
Again, do not use Reddit Chat. Please send me a private message on Reddit (Click here).
Thank you :)

Hacked yesterday deactivated today
Yesterday I was hacked mid dash while picking up food. I arrived at the store hit the arrived button and met an error message, closed the app and then I met the log in screen. Looked inside of my email and doordash updated my email, password and phone number associated with my account.I made a post about it yesterday. Still unsure how this happened no poser doordash workers or links have been presented to me to give delicate information.
Anyone ever been in this situation? Did you get your account back? What happens with the money that is locked on my account currently? Apparently no banking changes were made to my account.
I’m losing my mind sitting at home. I’ve worked everyday this year up until today and it’s hard for me to cope with all of this.I’m an addicted doordash driver that’s really struggling as I’ve basically molded my life around the grind.

2023.06.06 19:03 Healthinspiration How a 35 lbs Weight Loss Can Transform Your Life

How a 35 lbs Weight Loss Can Transform Your Life
Weight loss success story
Losing weight can be a life-changing journey. It not only improves your physical health but also boosts your confidence and overall well-being. The goal of shedding 35 lbs may seem daunting, but with the right strategies and mindset, it can be achieved. In this article, we will explore the concept of weight loss, the relationship between weight and calories, and provide practical tips to help you lose 35 lbs and experience a transformative change in your life.
Understanding Weight Loss
Before diving into the specifics of losing 35 lbs, let's first understand what weight loss entails. Weight loss refers to the reduction in body weight, typically as a result of burning more calories than you consume. It is influenced by various factors, including genetics, lifestyle choices, and underlying medical conditions. Maintaining a healthy weight is essential for overall well-being, as it reduces the risk of chronic diseases and promotes optimal physical and mental functioning.
The Concept of Calories
Calories play a crucial role in the weight loss journey. They are units of energy derived from the food and beverages we consume. Weight loss occurs when you create a calorie deficit, which means you burn more calories than you consume. The key components of the calorie equation are caloric intake and expenditure.
Your caloric intake is determined by the foods and drinks you consume. It is important to make nutritious choices and avoid excessive consumption of high-calorie, low-nutrient foods. On the other hand, caloric expenditure refers to the energy your body burns through various activities, including exercise, daily activities, and bodily functions.
The Relationship Between Weight and Calories
To lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit. A calorie deficit occurs when you consume fewer calories than your body needs for daily activities and maintenance. This deficit forces your body to tap into stored fat for energy, leading to weight loss.
On average, a pound of body weight is estimated to be equivalent to approximately 3,500 calories. Therefore, to lose 35 lbs, you would need to create a calorie deficit of 122,500 calories over a period of time. It is important to note that weight loss should be approached gradually and sustainably for long-term success.
The 35 lbs Weight Loss Milestone
Setting a realistic weight loss goal is essential to stay motivated and track progress effectively. Losing 35 lbs is a significant milestone that can have a profound impact on your health and well-being. However, it is important to remember that weight loss is not a one-size-fits-all journey. The time required to lose 35 lbs may vary depending on factors such as metabolism, starting weight, and individual circumstances.
On average, a healthy rate of weight loss is considered to be 1-2 pounds per week. Based on this estimate, losing 35 lbs could take approximately 17-35 weeks, or 4-8 months. It is crucial to approach weight loss with patience and focus on sustainable lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.
Strategies for Losing 35 lbs
Losing 35 lbs may seem overwhelming, but with the right strategies, it is achievable. Here are some effective approaches to help you on your weight loss journey:
MUST SEEN : The Lazy Way to a Slimmer You: How to Lose Weight Without Exercising
Healthy Eating Habits
Adopting healthy eating habits is essential for weight loss. Focus on incorporating a variety of nutrient-dense foods into your diet, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Aim for portion control and mindful eating, paying attention to hunger and fullness cues. Consider consulting a registered dietitian for personalized guidance and meal planning.
Regular Physical Activity
Engaging in regular physical activity is crucial for weight loss and overall well-being. Aim for a combination of cardiovascular exercises, such as brisk walking, running, or cycling, and strength training exercises to build lean muscle mass. Find activities that you enjoy to make exercise a sustainable part of your routine.
Lifestyle Changes
Weight loss is not just about diet and exercise; it often requires making broader lifestyle changes. Prioritize quality sleep, manage stress levels, and reduce sedentary behaviors. Small changes, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or incorporating short activity breaks throughout the day, can add up and contribute to your weight loss goals.
Seeking Professional Guidance
If you are struggling to achieve your weight loss goals or have underlying health conditions, consider seeking professional guidance. A healthcare provider, registered dietitian, or certified personal trainer can provide personalized recommendations and support tailored to your needs.
Staying Motivated Throughout the Journey
Maintaining motivation throughout your weight loss journey is crucial for long-term success. Here are some strategies to help you stay motivated:
Setting Short-Term Goals
Break your weight loss journey into smaller, achievable goals. Celebrate each milestone along the way, whether it's losing 5 pounds or fitting into a smaller clothing size. These short-term goals will keep you motivated and provide a sense of accomplishment.
Celebrating Milestones
Reward yourself for your achievements. Treat yourself to non-food rewards, such as a spa day, a new workout outfit, or a weekend getaway. Celebrating milestones reinforces positive behaviors and helps maintain motivation.
Creating a Support System
Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or a weight loss support group. Share your goals and progress with them, seek their encouragement, and lean on them during challenging times. Having a support system can make your weight loss journey more enjoyable and sustainable.
The Benefits of Losing 35 lbs
Losing 35 lbs can have a multitude of benefits beyond just the number on the scale. Here are some advantages of achieving this weight loss milestone:
Health Improvements
Losing excess weight can improve various aspects of your health. It can reduce the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. Weight loss also improves blood pressure levels, cholesterol levels, and overall cardiovascular health. Additionally, it can alleviate symptoms associated with conditions like joint pain and sleep apnea.
Increased Energy Levels
Carrying excess weight can leave you feeling lethargic and fatigued. By shedding 35 lbs, you can experience a significant boost in energy levels. With increased energy, you'll find it easier to engage in physical activities, accomplish daily tasks, and enjoy a more active lifestyle.
Enhanced Self-Confidence
Weight loss can greatly improve self-confidence and body image. As you work towards your goal of losing 35 lbs, you'll notice positive changes in your appearance, fitness, and overall well-being. This transformation can boost your self-esteem and enhance your confidence in various aspects of life.
Potential Challenges and How to Overcome Them
Embarking on a weight loss journey is not without its challenges. Here are some common obstacles you may encounter and strategies to overcome them:
Plateaus and Weight Fluctuations
It is normal to experience weight plateaus or fluctuations during your journey. These periods can be frustrating and may lead to discouragement. However, it's essential to remember that weight loss is not always linear. Stay consistent with your healthy habits, reassess your eating and exercise routine, and consider consulting a professional for guidance.
Dealing with Cravings
Cravings for unhealthy foods can be a stumbling block in your weight loss journey. Find healthier alternatives to satisfy your cravings, such as opting for fruit instead of sugary snacks or enjoying a square of dark chocolate instead of a candy bar. Practice mindful eating and address the underlying causes of cravings, such as emotional triggers or boredom.
Overcoming Self-Doubt
At times, self-doubt and negative self-talk may creep in during your weight loss journey. Remember that setbacks are a natural part of the process, and it's essential to be kind to yourself. Focus on your progress, celebrate your achievements, and surround yourself with positive influences that uplift and motivate you.
Conclusion
Losing 35 lbs is a significant achievement that can have a transformative impact on your life. By adopting healthy eating habits, engaging in regular physical activity, and making sustainable lifestyle changes, you can embark on a successful weight loss journey. Stay motivated, set realistic goals, and seek support when needed. Remember, weight loss is a personal journey, and every step you take towards a healthier lifestyle is a step towards a happier and more fulfilling life.

2023.06.06 19:02 p00kel [ND] [US] Is there a way to take time off for grief-related mental health after the bereavement leave ends?

My husband died suddenly on April 22. We worked together at a medium-sized tech company that is very supportive and generous with benefits. The normal bereavement leave is 5 days but they gave me 10 just because of the situation (and, tbh, because company higher-ups loved my husband). I took the first full week entirely off, then worked partial days for the next two weeks. By now I'm back to a regular full schedule.
Except - I've been running on adrenaline getting things done, and now that my parents have gone back home and people aren't checking on me all the time, I'm experiencing some kind of emotional crash. I'm sitting here at my work computer (WFH, luckily) and just bawling my eyes out.
My boss said "take all the time you need!" and he meant it, but I still have to use my PTO to do so ... and I only have about 40 hours of PTO accrued. I think if I keep feeling like this I need more time off than just a few hours here and there, but I can't afford to go entirely unpaid for long, unless I want to blow through my life insurance payout to do it.
So, are there any other ways to take time off besides just using my PTO or going unpaid? Would mental health qualify me for short term disability? Any other ways to frame it that might work?

2023.06.06 19:01 InfamousAd5500 I only got into one PhD program and I am so so happy

I applied to 13 graduate programs this cycle(10 PhDs and 3 MAs), and while I was accepted to the three masters programs, I only got into one PhD program. It is fully funded with a decent stipend and health insurance.
There are a few reasons why I think this ended up being one of the best case scenarios for me, even after agonizing over every application and the immense stinging feeling rejections from the other PhD programs.
First, I was able to avoid paying for a terminal masters degree, which I only applied to in case I didn’t get any PhD offers but didn’t want to take a gap year. Second, the location is far away. A personal goal of mine is moving away from my home state in order to learn to be more independent and be exposed to more of the world. So even though I didn’t have my pick of PhD programs, I don’t have the opportunity to pick the safer option. I have the path cleared for me to live somewhere new and there’s not a lot holding me back.
Third and most important, is the fit. I feel 100% confident that my research (an admittedly niche area) will be supported in the way it needs to. I was so sure that I actually withdrew my application from the one waitlist I was on and had been waiting (and waiting and waiting) to hear from because, while still prestigious, there weren’t any professors there who were experts in much related to my research interest.
Do I kind of regret the time and money put into the other applications that led nowhere? Yes. Did every rejection hurt like a mofo? Absolutely. Will I always be curious if I would’ve gotten into the program I was waitlisted for? Maybe. But honestly I am so happy about my choices and that things worked out the way they did. I hope sharing my journey can be reassurance for anyone who is struggling, or will struggle, through the process, or those who maybe have regrets about their admissions process, that things will work out as they are meant to in the end :)

2023.06.06 19:01 Feisty_Mk160 AITA for ending distancing myself?

My exfriend(28f) and I(31f) have been freinds for roughly 4 years as of last week.
Background: We would babysit each others kids for eachother for work. I work the same hours M-F, while she has inconsistent shifts with Tuesday and Sundays off.( her brother, father, cousin, nor bf would watch her child even when they are home/off work so i stepped up). I have my child every other week as me and my ex have joint custody.
Lately she has been asking me to watch her child more than what we agreed to. It was fine for a a couple of days but it turned to everyweek, everday from 4pm to 11pm. I have come to realize that the days she has said she had to work late, or need to go to the ER was really an excuse to go get her hair done or meet up with a date. I felt used so i confronted her about this because those "emergencies" had me cancel my plans with friends and potential dates. After i confronted her, she said that I'm being selfish and an AH and i should feel lucky to have something to do outside of my boring life. After that, I told her to lose my number and i walked away.
Now her dad is telling me we need to get over the pettiness and make up because friends are hard to come by. My coworkebestie said i did the right thing. Now I'm on the fence about it. AITA?

2023.06.06 19:01 ZandrickEllison For his career, Michael Porter Jr. has shot 43.7% from three on the road and 39.6% at home

Denver's mile-high altitude is infamous for giving opposing players problems, but it's possible that it also affects their own players. Among them, Michael Porter Jr. is not exactly an iron man.
For his career, he's shot a sizzling 43.7% on the road but only 39.6% at home (regular season numbers).
Is he truly better on the road? Is this just a fluke?
It's hard to tell. These are career numbers, but he hasn't played a terribly long career. Overall, we're talking 94 home games and 93 road games.

2023.06.06 19:00 caksters Mum diagnosed with reoccurring cancer, how to deal with idea that she will most likely die soon?

My mum (77) was diagnosed 6 years ago with ovarian cancer. she went through chemo and surgery that got he through cancer and everything was looking good until last year.
Last year she was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer. she had surgery where part of her pancreas has been removed. Standard of living has decreased significantly. She finished chemo and had 3 months recovery period.
Now some biomarkers are indicating that something is off with intestines and that there might be cancer lingering there.
I am living abroad and the only way I support her is by speaking with her 1-2 times a day. I try to go home few times a year but it is difficult with my family and work.
Hearing the latest news I am automatically assuming the worst case scenario. My mind can’t fully comprehend this. I am not feeling sad/angry/anxious about it, but I know that if doctor says that outlook is not looking good then panic will set in.
For a while I knew that I need to realise that my parents will pass away sooner or later. And I need to make the most out of the time they have left in this world by supporting them and being a loving child that loves and support them.
But I don’t know how to deal with my emotions where I logically fully understand what is most likely going to happen and my internal confused feelings about this.
I would appreciate any support that would help me navigate this.

2023.06.06 18:59 ThrowRAtheawesome I don't know how to support my partner's financial struggles

F(21) and M(21). For context we've been partners since high school. I graduated with an associates this semester but have been unemployed for 4 months. My partner on the other hand never completed college and has been working a minimum wage "dead end" job for 2 years. He tried college in high school but didn't enjoy it.
We both live with our parents but are very unfortunate such as living in section 8, food stamps and just withstanding horrid conditions. We are hardly privileged. Recently I've been staying over at his house more often because we don't like being alone.
The other day I wanted to use his restroom in the middle of the night. There's one bathroom in his family of 5 and it's only accessible through his siblings room. It was locked and when he couldn't open it he started breaking down crying.
When I asked him what's wrong he just said he's felt stuck at his home and that he's hasn't accomplished anything such as getting his drivers license or finishing college. He says whenever an opportunity sparks up he loses it. For example he has a huge passion for graphic design and would do free work for his job just to put himself out there, only to never set off.
I didn't give any unsolicited advice or solutions because when I asked he didn't want it. I knew I just needed to listen to him. He tends to shut off and not communicate when he feels upset.
Our support systems (family) is very poor, his especially. Our parents were very neglectful growing up. I don't know how to better improve our situation or give him confidence, it tends to backfire whenever I try (him shutting down).
The only possible solution I could think of is moving us out but at the moment I'm very undecided on whether to get my bachelors (would require me to be unemployed) or work full time. The idea of moving out for me is very new and if I happen to become independent a lot of government help I get would dissipate. I'm trying to take advantage of every service I have so there's a better outcome in my future, but it pains me to see my partner struggling.
What do I do.

2023.06.06 18:56 sz1983 Child support increases for ex-partner.

My ex-partner (common law) and I have an 8 year old girl together (50/50 shared custody) We live in Ontario and pay offset child support. I pay her, she pays me based on our respective incomes. I make more money than her so instead of transferring money back and forth I've just been paying her the difference. She works in the dental field and has been making a relatively consistent amount of money since we met up to and including the time we separated. She has since married and has slowly been making less and less money (approximately 5, 000-10, 000 per year over theast 5 years). Because of this, my child support payments have been increasing substantially despite the fact that I haven't been making more money. She claims that she can't work in her full capacity because of the job market and lack of suitable child care. She has been asked to impute at a reasonable amount but has refused, on two occasions she has been asked by a judge to agree to imputation but has declined on both occasions (settlement conferences). She states that she shouldn't have to impute because she's planning on making more money in the future. She's also 6 months pregnant and will be taking maternity leave. My fear is that she will be a stay at home mom after maternity leave live solely on her husbands Income. This will give her no income, causing my child support payments to skyrocket. I would essentially be paying the same amount of support as some dead beat father who isn't with his child. I have been representing myself, whereas she has legal counsel. She claims to have spent $10,000+ fighting me to avoid imputation. All of this gives me reason to believe that she is simply trying to avoid imputation as to maximize the amount of child support payments she receives from me in the future.
Where do I go from here?
We have another intake court soon.
