2023.06.06 17:38 Amzl_one DHX3, Sugarland Houston Texas might be the worst Amazon ever

This is a DS warehouse, unprofessional, unorganized. I witnessed stuff like one particular PA walking around cussing all the time, a Learning ambassador twerking in front of managers, PAs and associates at the dock, an associate making a video call during pick and stage while a PA was present he didn’t give a damn, an associate sitting on the jiffies on go cart while unloading on the belt because they are tired. For the stow they don’t assign aisles, they just tell you for example to go to A and you stow wherever lanes you want, which makes some people never touch OVs, mess up the bags and move to an other aisle. they don’t have minimum stow rate so you can go as low as 50 UPH and the highest is usually around 150 and 200 UPH, you see associates stowing without ring scanner for the whole shift. Everyone prefer to stow than pick the buffer here because of that. ( if you think you suck or keep getting write ups, bothered for stow rates, you are just at the wrong Amazon and must transfer here ASAP ). One night a manager said « you guys are killing it, we have a high stow rate of 250 ». Anyone can become an ambassador even the worst, so the training is poor and all the associates who can do better were transferred here from other stations, don’t bother asking an ambo or some PAs for help or question they usually don’t know either. Meanwhile in other stations when you are a good stower, they keep you on the same path all the time, here the guy who hits 400+ UPH stow rate was never sent to stow again. Safety from dock is a big mess, we will have a lot of empty Gaylords some on the floor, palette jack unattended or in the right place, truck unloader who will just push the go carts from trailer( someone once almost got hit). Anyone experiencing the same thing elsewhere ? Is the warehouse not getting a check up by higher ups?

2023.06.06 17:38 DecisionTime456 Imminent lay off, new job offer in LCOL market

Looking for some advice. I am being laid off from my current job at the end of the month, and have been job hunting. I currently live in a (very) HCOL area, and I love it here. However, I cannot afford to buy here. I have been offered a job with a group located in a LCOL area. The job would be a significant title and responsibility bump (Manager to Senior Director), but with a modest (10%) increase to my current base salary.
Do I take the job and move to an area I do not want to be in, in order to jump up the ladder? Or do I focus on landing a higher paying job, likely with a lesser title, in my current market?

2023.06.06 17:38 Annana0001 Great ways to stand out during the initial acquisition process

During the initial calls with the seller, acquirers are looking for several key factors that can help them assess the potential of the acquisition. In addition to the five green flags mentioned earlier, here are some other important ways for sellers to stand out and present relevant information to the acquirer: Demonstrated Growth Potential: Acquirers want to see the growth potential of the target company. They will be interested in understanding the market opportunity, revenue growth, customer base, and any unique selling propositions. Sellers should highlight their market position, competitive advantage, and future growth strategies. Scalability and Synergies: Acquirers often seek synergistic benefits from the acquisition. Sellers can differentiate themselves by showcasing how their business can be integrated into the acquirer's operations, resulting in cost savings, revenue enhancement, or other strategic advantages. Sellers should identify potential synergies and articulate how the combination of the two entities can create value greater than the sum of their parts. Strong Intellectual Property (IP) Portfolio: If the target company possesses valuable intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks, or proprietary technology, it can significantly enhance its attractiveness to acquirers. Sellers should highlight their IP assets and demonstrate how they contribute to a competitive advantage or barriers to entry in the market. Solid Management Team: Acquirers value companies with capable and experienced management teams. Sellers should introduce their key executives, highlight their expertise and achievements, and demonstrate a strong succession plan. Sellers who have already implemented a management transition process can further increase their appeal to acquirers. Clear Financial Performance: Acquirers will delve into the financials of the target company to assess its health and potential return on investment. Sellers should be prepared to provide accurate and up-to-date financial statements, including revenue, profitability, cash flow, and key financial ratios. It's also crucial to have a clear understanding of the metrics that are important to acquirers in their industry.

2023.06.06 17:38 brentpearson2022 Importance of consultants in public procurement

Public procurement in Canada is a complex and highly regulated process that involves acquiring goods, services and works on behalf of government entities. This is where procurement consultants step in, offering invaluable guidance and support to navigate the system's intricacies. This article will delve into the importance of consultants in public procurement, highlighting their role in optimizing procurement services and ensuring successful outcomes.

Enhancing Procurement Practices

Procurement consultants play a pivotal role in enhancing procurement practices within the public sector. Specialized Expertise

Procurement consultants bring specialized expertise, offering insights into industry best practices and emerging trends. Their extensive experience across various sectors equips them with a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and innovative procurement strategies. This expertise allows consultants to provide valuable recommendations on procurement methodologies, contract management, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management, optimizing procurement outcomes.

Capacity Building and Training

Beyond their role in the procurement process, consultants also contribute to capacity building and training within the public sector. Through workshops, seminars, and training sessions, procurement consultants empower government procurement professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles. By investing in professional development, public entities can cultivate a highly skilled procurement workforce well-versed in current procurement practices and equipped to handle evolving challenges.

Conclusion

In the realm of public procurement in Canada, the importance of consultants cannot be overstated. From optimizing procurement practices and efficient resource utilization to navigating complex legal frameworks and providing specialized expertise, procurement consultants offer invaluable support to government organizations. 2023.06.06 17:37 Jolly-Cheek5779 Pelvic pain — switching Docs (Addiction docs?)

Been a lurker here forever ! Just wanna say to everyone still fighting for help, you’re valid.
My background - 27F - softball sized dermoid cyst removal L ovary -Ovary torsion / cyst removal - gastric bypass -panniculectemy (tummy tuck/skin removal — more medical not cosmetic)
History of consistent worsening pelvic pain. I’ve given birth naturally with no medical help twice and this pain succeeds that. GYN has had me do: pelvic floor therapy, Botox injections, hormones, gabapentin, ketorlac (toradol) and more Tylenol and Advil than I care to admit.
As a “crunchy” mom herbs and natural remedies are always my go to. However my TENS machine, yoga, and my extensive herb closet have yet to calm my pain.
I’d been to the ER numerous times last month because the pain was unbearable each time I’m kept over night for “pain management” then sent home and told to follow up w GYN or pain management(all who won’t take me OR no appointments until the fall) — the final time I was given a vvv short term script for 5/325 Oxy. Which unfortunately work best for me. I’m able to function , not be bent over every few minutes.. it was a great week as I was able to move about and interact with my children.
I followed up with my GYN explaining the hormones made me feel horrible mentally and I wanted to see if they’d spoken with another doctor regarding prescribing a longer short term script. I have suspected endo, but no one will operate to find out and I’m on a waitlist for a local specialist with no openings until the fall. I was told during the call that the attending didn’t want to prescribe because it just “masks” the issue .. but I mean YES That’s what I want, it masked so I can function? But do the hormones not do the same thing..
I saw here not long ago someone saying to see an addiction doctor for a possible pain script and just wanted more insight ? Any other suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

2023.06.06 17:33 alg_hes_a_fungai Carbon tax question

Short, honest question, no political spin, asking because I honestly don't know. Ultimately, where do the carbon tax funds collected go? Is the surplus helping to reduce the deficit?
-------------
Long version:
I keep hearing about the increasing carbon tax and have been asking acquaintances how it works. I’ve been sitting on this question for a few weeks, contemplating possible answers:
Admittedly, I would like to reduce my carbon tax cost by lowering my fossil-fuel consumption. No one in government or media has come forward and said that directly (or did I miss an ad campaign somewhere?), but maybe that’s the incentive of the increasing cost. The problem is that I can't. I can't afford a new vehicle. I have to drive what I have. I can't reduce the temperature of my house in the winter any more than I already have. How much more am I able to cut, and where? Eat differently (working on that), eat food grown closer to home, also working on that. Rising inflation and stagnant salary definitely isn't helping.
I also don't understand the rebate. The government took money from one pocket and gave some of it back to me in the other pocket. Why? To reduce the sting of the money that was taken? Why not take less in the first place? Ultimately, I don't understand the end game here.
Based on some of the information here: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/climate-change/pricing-pollution-how-it-will-work/putting-price-on-carbon-pollution.html. And drilling further down, https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2018/10/backgrounder-targeted-relief-for-farmers-and-fishers-and-residents-of-rural-and-remote-communities.html. "The GGPPA will provide farmers with relief from the fuel charge for fuels used in tractors, trucks and other farm machinery. The relief is provided upfront through the use of exemption certificates, when certain conditions are met. Specifically, the GGPPA provides that a registered distributor can generally deliver, without the fuel charge applying, gasoline or light fuel oil (e.g., diesel) to a farmer at a farm, if the fuel is for use exclusively in the operation of eligible farming machinery and all or substantially all of the fuel is for use in the course of eligible farming activities. Farmers do not need to be registered for the purposes of this relief." If that's the case, why does the opposition party keep saying that food prices are increasing because farm fuel is increasing?
Small rant: I have friends in other countries that have populations that are roughly 10-40x bigger than Canada. They aren't doing anything to reduce their carbon footprint. I would love to be a world leader in moving the needle in the fight against climate change, but really, we're throwing a pebble into the ocean and expecting the ripple to make a global difference?

2023.06.06 17:33 Catamount90 We're joining the Reddit blackout from June 12th to 14th, to protest the planned API changes that will kill 3rd party apps

Hey /AboveandBeyond and the Anjuna community, I have some less than ideal updates for all of you.
We have an important announcement to share regarding recent changes to Reddit's API that will significantly impact the third-party apps many of you use to access and enjoy your favorite communities. It is crucial that you take the time to read through this post.
Reddit has recently announced a transition from a free to a paid model for their API, which will likely force many developers of third-party apps to shut down. This change comes with expenses that these developers simply cannot afford. To provide some perspective, popular third-party app Apollo, for example, would face a staggering cost of $1.7 million per month to continue operating, equating to $12,000 for every 50 million API requests. In contrast, Apollo currently pays Imgur only $166 for the same number of API calls.
As a result, apps like Apollo, Narwhal, and many more may have no choice but to permanently close their doors. Even if you don't personally use a third-party app, these changes will likely affect the communities you enjoy, as the majority of moderation teams rely on these tools and Reddit's API for efficient moderation and management. This situation paints a worrisome picture for users of other tools like Reddit Enhancement Suite and old.reddit.com.
To summarize the importance of this issue, please review this TL;DR on the issue.
So, what are we planning to do about it?
On June 12th, along with many other subreddits, both large and small, we will go dark for 48 hours. If you feel like this isn't long enough, please let us know in the comments. During this period, you will be unable to view or post any content on AboveandBeyond.
We want to emphasize that this action is not taken lightly. We understand that many of you rely on this community to stay updated on all things Anjuna ( or to get the latest hot gossip in the Anjuna world). However, we firmly believe that we must take a stand on this matter, and a temporary blackout is how we choose to do so.

2023.06.06 17:32 ianng555 Thought I'd share how I get around being hyperactive (not very ADD)

I'm not sure if this is useful for anyone or if this is in fact a good strategy, but since I rarely see anyone manage/cope/manifest their ADHD in similar ways that I do, I thought I'd share.
I'm hyperactive and I thought I don't have much in common with ADD people or even other hyperactive people, but then I actually spent time reading into the fine details of what they share (re: I didn't read more than the abstract because ADHD), I think that I actually just sidestepped their symptoms with a different set of symptoms.
Basically, I turn everything into a "time trial"/"speed run" (e.g. time taken to get ready in the morning, time taken to make a meal, time taken to write a program at work, etc.). I grew up wanting to become a racing driver (the most ADHD of profession) but I failed because I wasn't born from a billionaire family (and because I didn't insist on trying, and probably slow). And part of that reasoning is that I already turn everything as a "hotlap" against the clock anyway. The gamification of everything in daily life makes my symptoms and manifestations different from most people.
I read and found out that there are other more common popular symptoms from other people that my personality sidestepped. For example time blindness wasn't an issue for me because I am doing something as fast as I can already, so there is no point pacing or watching the clock (i.e. you don't need to know the time when you already assume that time is not enough, since you are trying to go faster anyway).
I got around the lack of motivation by treating everything as a sport so that it'd be more fun or meaningful. It is particularly useful if you start to be able to ignore other people relative to you and only look at your score and your time (e.g. I just compare myself to the world record for most things so that I don't have to worry about being slow or doing poorly, you always do poorly if you compare yourself to nothing but the WR anyway, just get used to it). Things that I do for fun are not fun for most other people and downright bizarre without context, e.g. when other people started doing wordle during the pandemic, I just did 1 LSAT practice test per day for no discernible reason, because a wordle is not enough (and also unlike most other people with emotional stake in an LSAT, idgaf if I score really poorly, I don't have anything better to do in the middle of the day in my office so I need something that is 2.5 hours long that is extremely intense so that I would get in gear and actually go to my office). I started sim racing and I try to make the WR pace for each lap and track as much as possible. The fact that I am a slow driver means that it provides a very long and arduous process to occupy my day, and I'm here for it. There are plenty of other activities that I can't list, all of them meaningless.
In truth I didn't care for motivation because I just don't do anything that is not fun or doesn't require me to operate on the limit. There are obvious downsides to my way of dealing with ADHD, e.g. I am very bad at maintenance and chores because there is almost no way of making those items feel like a competitive sport. Worse yet is when I have to work with people, I have no patience for people. As an extravert, I love to socialize, but I rather work alone at work because of the way I work. I never had any fun in adult sports classes because I just don't care for the warm up, the structure, the schedule and the discipline. I just want to hit a tennis ball against a ball machine 98034298342987 times until I feel like I'm good enough to go to a tournament.
In short, instead of trying to make myself more discipled, I basically got rid of the idea of discipline altogether. Instead of waking up early and do exactly a certain amount of training/whatever because #motivation or whatever, I'd get rid of the clock and train until I fall over and have cramps, but only the things that I'm interested in.
I understand that I'm in a privileged position that I can afford to do that, most people with kids or a 9-5 job can't afford to just get rid of their obligations or their schedule, or only interact with people when it is for socialization, but I think the issue with many people with ADHD in trying to "instill" discipline in their life, is the fact that "discipline" is forced upon them and meaningless. In general, when ADHD people do things, we either do it or we don't, we don't care what the exact time is on the clock.

2023.06.06 17:32 Amzl_one DHX3, Sugarland Houston Texas might be the worst Amazon ever

2023.06.06 17:31 XParzival22 Diablo 4 download issues?

I'm running into a weird issue. I purchased a digital copy of Diablo 4 for my Series X through Amazon. They sent me a code that was redeemed with no issue, but when going to download the game the name downloads and shows in my library as "Diablo 4 - Server Slam" not "Diablo 4 - Standard Edition".
If I use the manage game option to go to the Microsoft store it shows as the server slam product page, and when finding the standard edition it shows I need to purchase it still. After downloading it just gives an error about servers.
I'm in the Austin, TX region. Shouldn't the game be available already? or do I need to wait...I purchased the game on Amazon but from Blizzard (versus a reseller) so I figured the game should work.
I got it from this page

Games are able to run well, for example Overwatch runs at 180fps at highest graphics settings. VR works great. But the computer does heat up to about 82 degrees (cooling system works well when it reaches this point, just a bit loud), and the CPU is running over 90% regularly when gaming. I also appear to not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 with these specs. Would a CPU upgrade be necessary? Is there much I can do outside of a full motherboard replacement? Am I overthinking this?

2023.06.06 17:25 Blanco_ice Smart Collars

Collars are a necessary purchase for any dog (and some cat) owner
While regular collars and harnesses still represent most purchases, the rise of smart collars is undeniable. Globally, The smart pet collar Market was valued at $411bn in 2021 and is expected to reach $800bn by 2028 with a CAGR of 10% over the forecasted period Currently there. is a boom in luxury pet products and services. Our growing and strengthening bond with our pets suggests pet owners are willing to splurge on high-ticket items if it means peace of mind and a healthier pet. While these collars cost way more than your average $20 Amazon collar (some go up to $1500) the market indicates that smart collars will dominate in the future (as prices will drop). The four big reasons pet owners are purchasing these fairly expensive collars are: * Geo-Fencing * Activity monitoring * GPS location tracker * Health monitoring
Geo-Fencing Designed to set boundaries and alert owners when their pet ventures outside the predetermined area, ensuring their safety and security.
Activity Monitoring Tracking their physical activity, providing owners with valuable insights into their pet’s exercise levels
GPS Location Tracker Allows owners to track their pet's location in real-time, providing peace of mind and facilitating quick retrieval if they wander off or get lost.
Health Monitoring Monitors vital signs, activity levels, and behavior patterns, enabling owners to proactively manage their pet's well-being and detect potential health issues.

2023.06.06 17:23 tiberius14 Red light of doom on motherboard

Hi everyone,
I've put together this build today:
PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item
CPU Intel Core i5-13500 2.5 GHz 14-Core Processor
Motherboard MSI MAG B660M MORTAR DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory
Case Fractal Design Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
(plus some HDDs and M2s)
To my surprise, the motherboard showed a red light in the EZ Debug LEDs. As per the manual, this is was the CPU light.
I know this my motherboard requires a firmware update before it can operate gen 13 intel CPUs so I'm counting that as a possible troubleshoot.
My questions are as follows: 1. Can I order a cheap gen 12 i3 processor from amazon (can't seem to find celerons), plug it into the MB, upgrade the firmware and return the i3? 2. Can you help me further troubleshoot the problem?
I thank you in advance!
