We wanted to make a quick statement on some controversial changes reddit is making.
Background: Changes are being made behind the scenes to Reddit’s API. At a high level an API is how other programs interact with Reddit and its content. Reddit is banning any/all NSFW through the API and has a new fee structure for using the API. The changes, specifically the charges per use, is impacting unofficial apps and bots as well (both spam bots and helpful bots) For more information on the changes read Reddit’s announcement here
Potential Impact

User changes will impact users that use a third party app on their phone/tablet to browse Reddit for example Apollo, Reddit is FUN, Narwhal, etc.
Moderator The changes are impacting moderators who use third party apps and bots to aid in the moderation of their community. Users may see an increase in spam if some of the bots moderators use are taken offline. An open letter explaining more of the Moderators issues is explained here

Black Out A growing list of subreddits will be going dark June 12th. This could mean different things for each subreddit, it usually means that the subreddits will go private. The length of time this blackout will last can also differ from subreddit to subreddit. The list of subreddits planning to go dark can be found here
Cosplay At this time /cosplay will not be participating in the blackout. While we would like to see much less NSFW spam, we are concerned that the current plan will remove many of good/helpful tools. So, we will see how this change plays out... what good bots are impacted, how it impacts /cosplay, and if Reddit has some additional changes ready to resolve those issues.

So back when version 36 came out, I wasn't able to get the update due to my phone storage being almost full. And the time I had enough storage to get the update, it was nowhere to be found. Everyone else is now on version 37, while I'm still stuck on version 35. I've tried the link the game gives me, but it still doesn't help. The only option left for me is to delete the game and redownload it. But doing that might delete my saved data. Even the google play store says that this game was not even downloaded on it. What do I do?

TL;DR: I am trying to figure out why the barrier on aspect of the protector procs when I use war cry even if there are no elites around
I think there may be a bug or a fundamental mechanic I'm misunderstanding. I imprinted the aspect of the protector onto an amulet and noticed that whenever I use war-cry (and the 30 second timer is up) it throws up the barrier regardless of if elites are around. I can proc is all alone in the middle of a field. The text of the aspect reads:

Damaging an Elite ememy grants you a Barrier absorbing up to 119 damage for 10 seconds. This effect can only happen once every 30 seconds.

I can't find anything in my character sheet or other equipment that would cause the barrier to proc when no enemies are around. Has anyone seen anything like this? It's only war-cry that procs it. I'm only level 22 so I don't think there's some crazy combo going on that I'm not seeing

Throwing this out there as a suggestion to people looking for "gig" type ways to earn money on the road.
Find the biggest skydiving dropzone (DZ) in your area, go there and learn to pack parachutes.
Packing parachutes for other skydivers (usually shortened to "packing" or "being a packer") is a fantastic job that can function extremely well with van life.

Fairly low barrier to entry (it's a physically demanding job, but not difficult to learn)
Good pay, often directly in cash
- Typical pay is $10/pack + tips, and after a couple months of practice on a busy weekend you can knock out 30 pack jobs in a day.
- During "boogies" it's not unheard of to do 50 pack jobs in a day, and sometimes very good packers with a solid client base will do upwards of 70 packs in a day if they're REALLY hitting it hard (It'll take you a few seasons to get to this level)
Van-life and generally being a bohemian bum is REALLY common amongst skydivers, no one will bat an eye at you living in a van. Plenty of skydivers already do.
Most big dropzones have campgrounds attached to them with various levels of facilities, and very reasonable rates for monthly stays as long as you're somehow integrated with the skydiving community
Highly seasonal, many DZs have a "busy" season or are only open for the few months of the year that the weather is good. This gives a reason/excuse for a van dweller to follow the good weather, many will head south for the winter to pack at DZs in Florida, Texas or Arizona.

Packing is very "informal" work, there's usually not a clearly defined structure to it and the culture around packing varies DZ to DZ. So it's good for people who are very friendly, have great soft skills, and get along well with others.
A very general guide to becoming a packer is as such:

Familiarize yourself with how parachutes work. Understand what all the parts of a rig are, just google around. There's tons of YouTube videos.
- You don't need to be an expert, but terms like bridle, pilot chute, deployment bag, RSL (reserve static line), should all be familiar to you. You should be able to look at a rig and identify all the parts.
Head to the dropzone, ask around and find the most senior packer. Sometimes this is an official role, but usually not. It's often whoever has been there the longest and has the most experience, the person that everyone knows and looks up to (often someone who's been packing there for 10 years or more).
Tell them you'd like to become a packer, they'll size you up and try and learn a bit more about you and figure out if you're worth investing their time in. It helps a lot if you already have skydiver friends, or are trying to become a skydiver yourself. Packing is often about becoming part of the community at the DZ, so the more you can integrate yourself the better.
The senior packer will either assign you to one of the other more experience packers, or take you on as their own apprentice. They'll give you a packing class, show you how the rigs work, how they're set up, and how to pack them. Sometimes you can expect to pay them ~$200 for this, as it will take a few hours at least and sometimes an entire afternoon.
They'll start finding some client rigs for you to pack, while they watch. Usually you won't get paid for this, the client pays the packer overseeing you. Sometimes they'll split it with you, but sometimes not (as because they're watching you directly, they're not able to make money doing other pack jobs).
Once they feel you're ready to go on your own, you're left to find some people to start packing for. Usually there's kind of an informal system about this, jumpers who don't already have a packer they like will be handed out to the less busy packers. A good senior packer will also try and give you clients who have older and less aggressive canopies (brand new canopies are slippery and harder to pack).
- Usually the person who taught you how to pack will keep an eye on you and watch what you're doing for the first few weeks. Expect to pay your senior packer a dollar or two per pack job that you do.
PRACTICE. A LOT. The more you do it, the faster you'll get and the more familiar you'll get with different types of systems and canopies. There's a lot to learn.
Once you've been packing for a few seasons, you might think about getting your FAA Rigger's license. This certifies you to do things like repacking reserve parachutes, and doing gear inspections. You can also start packing the big Tandem rigs, which DZs typically pay quite a bit more for a pack job on.

GIGANTIC, MASSIVE, HUGE WARNING!!!
Spending a lot of time at a dropzone has been correlated with a desire to skydive. This desire has a direct causal link to losing all of the money that you have made packing.

I didn't like the game much - and completed it
Then went to Muspelheim - and completed some of the tasks - but found it exhausting on my arms - so left it
Now I'm in Niflheim - and after a slow start, I googled about the best way to farm (open the cheaper looking chests first, then the more elaborate ones - to get more Mist Echoes)
After I got the Mist armour (I chose "Deadly") I was amazed at how much longer I can survive the mist
I came (accidentally...) across the Valkyrie there twice (I haven't beaten any of the others...) - the first time I got too close, so had to fight her - and died
The second time I looted the chest there - but made sure I didn't wake her
(both times I soiled my underpants...)
I have now unlocked al the chests in the "central area" - and just have to farm for the 3 x Realm Tears (and the collectibles you need to find to activate them)
TLDR - I have been Niflheim-farming for the last 8 hours...
Is anyone else as addicted to that level?

My husband is on the spectrum, diagnosed with Asperger's when he was young. He very much can pass for neurotypical to neurotypical people, but I know he is struggling with out 7-month-old twins sometimes, especially now that they are starting to crawl and get into things. I tried to google for groups (facebook, in-person, reddit, etc) but all I was finding were support groups for parents with children diagnosed with ASD. I figured here and one of the other groups I'm in might be able to direct me in the right direction. Thanks!

So, this guy texted saying we are going to be working in the same place. I thought it was nice to socialise until I realised that he was asking for the smallest of details such as how to fill out an application or what is the total fee or how did I opt out of an option even when the website clearly mentions the prices and instructions in bold? I replied out of courtesy and this guy keeps on texting me as if I am Google. I told him to mail them if he has any confusion. He said alright and bombarded me with even more questions. Just because I was nice enough to help him out sometimes doesn't give him the benefit to take me for granted lmao.

I was a Ride Operator, which means most of the time you do no work, unless you're in a safety critical position. That day I was in it for 30mins, a lost phone is turned into me. Phone rung while I was at the machine that controls the entire ride; I answered and told them we have their phone. My union could not represent me due to me still being in my probationary period (I was 2 months into the 4 months)

From someone who only has been a retail cashier his entire 38 years of life, this is devastating to me. I got paid more than minimum wage, got 36+ hours a week, and I was so happy to be there 6 days a week (as a new hire Im only scheduled for 24 hours a week, so I called in every day to either extend or come in so I never got anything below 36)

I created voices and characters for myself to be in character for the show. Traded pins with people and talked to them. Played with puppets to entertain kids. That was the majority of my work and I was so happy.

In the 60 days I was with Disneyland, I received exactly 38 guest compliments (a metric I was told during my termination). In my 12 years in retail how many did I receive officially? At least one?

And now that's all gone because I was an idiot and thought, "oh, it must suck to lose a portable super computer (phone), lemme answer it so they know where it is and can get it back."

Now the only thing left for me is retail again because that's the only skill I have. I have no car btw so that greatly limits what jobs I can work

Back to being occassinally told by customers, "you deserve a raise!" because of my personality and or knowledge of electronics, but only getting a pittance of 30 cents each year

Back to being paid minimum wage even though I have 12 years of retail experience

I was really hoping that some random talent scout might see me doing my voices at Disney, and go, "I want that voice for a commercial," but that avenue is gone now

I applied to Apple Retail but haven't heard back yet. I go in for a job fair tomorrow at Office Depot

I even wanted to kill myself. 2023.06.07 18:09 jrico59 Plywood shed floor for barn?

I started a 12x16 shed that will serve as a small barn for our 3 goats. I did a wood floor (3/4" PT plywood) but am having second thoughts because according to Google a lot of people seem to think dirt floor is the way to go. My two thoughts are that I could:
1) Push forward. What should I put on the floor to help? 2) Keep half (a 12x8 section) as a shed for the milking parlor but remove the other half of the floofoundation and make an "attached" barn section using poles/post-and-beam.
Thoughts? I don't want to overthink this but also don't want to really wish I'd done dirt in the future if it's that much better for easier maintenance.
