When I was in school, I was very jealous of the girls who had families with more money. My family was very poor and I didn't have any nice things like they did, which made me feel different and weird. I was young, and regretfully acted like a brat at times, being dramatic and crying to my mom about why she can't get us nice things. I became very jealous of these girls, and hateful.
In middle school, I tried to use my poverty to my advantage. I tried to make myself seem tough, as a way to bring attention to myself, a way to make myself seem cool and catch people off guard. I was still jealous and hateful. I especially hated this girl who had seemingly everything, yet still had mental and health problems. I was upset that she got to be a victim and have nice things. I hated her, though she was sweet and never did anything mean to me.
I left that school and didn't see her again. I still had this left over hate and jealousy though, and would look her and her friends up on Instagram to see what they've been up to. I eventually decided that I didn't want to be hateful anymore, since it was making my life worse. I asked myself if she actually did anything wrong, and I realized the answer was no. I decided to try to stop being jealous and hateful.
But I still have this urge to compete with people for who has had the hardest life. In my twisted mind, I feel like whoever has struggled the most has also achieved the most, right? Because if you are average, then that's not impressive. But if you're average, yet have overcome childhood neglect, being able to raise yourself as a young teen, walk 2.5 miles a day because you don't have a car, live in a house with no heat, have to work full time while in high school to pay bills, all while suffering severe sensory issues. That's impressive, right?
But it turns out other people can play that game too. I met someone who literally grew up in a cult, suffered horrible abuse during their childhood, moved out at 17, cut off their family, suffer from some of the most severe mental illnesses and back pain. He gets angry at random times and his tone can be a little scary, and he does some drugs. He excuses this by saying how much he's gone through, and he's praised for "functioning as well as he has" even though he can do shitty things sometimes. If I complain about something tough I'm going through, he gets upset and counters it with worse things he's gone through.
All this feels like a weight I don't want to carry. I often exaggerate my stories to make myself sound tougher. I hate stretching the truth like this. I don't want to have to wear these struggles like armor. I don't want to constantly feel the need to compete with everyone else's struggles. There must be a way out of this crazy mindset. Can anyone help me?

I kid you not... they want you to pay £25 just to find out if you are permitted to do anything to your house that may require planning permission... and that's before you might actually have to pay the fee for submitting the plans (if required).
Basically, I'm converting the back two thirds of a largish garage into a bedroom for a disabled/elderly person, and the adjoining utility room & cloakroom, into a wet room.
The garage is attached to the house, access is through a door from the kitchen to the utility room, there is another lockable (fire) door to the garage and one to the cloakroom.
We are retaining the garage door at the front and creating a storage/shed type space for my stuff, bikes and a few tools. It's also where the electric/gas meters are as well as the solar inverter and battery system.
I was planning on creating a firebreak of some kind in the wall between storage and bedroom.
All I needed to know was, what is classed as permitted development, what level of insulation is required, what fire regulations are required... there's a window that we planned on replacing with one that will completely open inwards as a possible fire exit, but there's also ease of access to the back door in the utility space.
We've tried speaking with architects about getting some basic plans made up to submit but they all want £2-3k or it's not worth their time. We can't afford that... and all I need to draw up some basic plans myself... is the requirements to meet building codes.
My own searching keeps hitting a brick wall because of these paywalls... All I need to know are the building codes and requirements, as well as if it's classed as permitted development seeing as we are not changing the facade of the house in any way.
Once I know that... I can draw up the plans with the specified requirements on insulation, fire regs and so forth... there's a combi boiler in the corner of the garage that we will build an insulated cupboard around to reduce noise, and there already a carbon monoxide alarm in there, but we'll have one wired in directly instead of the battery one (we actually have 2 in there as we brought one with us when we moved in last year too).
Then it's just lining up a builder to do the work... we were going to use the same guys that did the kitchen a couple of months ago... But this planning stuff has brought me to a stop.

New to Reddit, I apologize for mistakes.
This has 2 events leading to argument between my sister "Carly" and I. This weekend my(23F) sister(29F) threw a bday party out of town for her kids.
Most of my family members are social butterflies, the definition of extroverted. Me and my BF(21M) "Jace" are not. When Carly sent the info for the party, she said it would only be our immediate family, which totals 15 people including Jace and me. After checking the details, Jace and I thought it would be nice to stay longer to visit and spend time with my family instead of our usual: pop in, see the birthday person, gifts, and singing before cake.
When Jace and I arrived at the party there were WAY more people than we expected, at LEAST 60+, all were friends of my sister (plus spouses and kids). No biggie, she had the right to invite whoever, we just didn't want to swim anymore due to overcrowding.
After staying the polite amount of time, I got overwhelmed, and Jace and I left the party after exchanging goodbyes. The next day, on our way home we stopped by to see my niece and nephew and visit with them which was hard due to the commotion the day before.
Carly told me we were AHs for not staying and spending time with her. I told her I was sorry and explained that I was overwhelmed and not having a nice time. I also told her while I was sorry it hurt her feelings, we were there for the kids, not to visit and mingle with her and her friends. She didn't say much to me the rest of our time there that day.
The second situation has been ongoing since I was 6, yes 6 years old. One of Carly's friends has a bro "Billy" who is my age and our sisters always joked that we would get married. (Cringey IMO) Anyways, my sister would refer to Billy as her "Future Brother-in-Law" and I always brushed it off or said no, not happening. I hadn't heard it for maybe 2+ years now.
Well, this morning Jace and I went to Carly's house to watch the kids so she could go to the gym. I guess she ran into Billy there and sent a chat to our family group (which Jace is in, we're engaged) It was a pic of them captioned "My Future BIL!"
Jace was hurt. When she came back, I confronted Carly, she said I need to stop trying to pick fights with her and take how she feels into consideration. She brought up how we left the party this weekend and I snapped at her telling her "Everyone is always catering to your wants and you don't care about how it affects those around you. The world doesn't revolve around you, grow up."
After we left, I talked with our mom and she thinks I could have been more mature explaining. A few of my friends think I was in the right standing up for Jace and myself. Jace feels like he stirred the pot; I keep assuring him he didn't, I felt this was a long time coming.

Here is the inverter manual
Can I put panels on the output side of the inverter to lessen the load/stretch run time on the batteries? I want to use grid power as a last resort and (hurricane area) want to be able to run severed from the grid. What happens to excess power if on the output side of the inverter? Can it “flow backwards” through the inverter and out to the grid when grid tied or does the inverter effectively act like a “check valve”?

I recently installed a fresh build of arch on my main pc (not vm). The only problem I can't seem to fix is audio playback is out of sync with all applications. Especially when watching YouTube videos on chrome, it's noticeable. I am using pulseaudio and using the pavucontrol gui. Everything is up to date. This out of my realm and I need help please.
I've read old post about adjusting the fragment settings and turning off timer-based scheduling in the daemon.conf file. I checked the latenct offset in pavucontrol, everything is set at 0.00
Before I did a fresh install, everything worked and not out of sync. (I haven't changed any hardware). Here is everything from the terminal I've seen other post use to explain their issue. Thank you again:

I would like to achieve 1440p gaming with at least 60+ fps, and hopefully, this build will give that. (first build as well)
There is a tight budget I am working on, but maybe someone can see if there is room for improvement.
My reason for going with the 5600 ram and not the 6000 is because PC Builder on youtube mentioned that the 6000 ram has trouble on budget Motherboards.
