I'll keep it short and sweet.
I'm planning a birthday party for my partner, Aspen (they/them). Per their request, it's gonna be a small, laidback affair at their house, probably a pot luck game night sort of situation.
My metamour, Birch (they/them), and I are mostly parallel, but not strictly. We've met before, follow each other on instagram, and occasionally exchange memes and pithy one liners in a large nebulous group chat of mutual friends and acquaintances. Pretty surface level stuff, no bad blood there as far as I can tell.
Should I ask if they wanna help me plan the party, or just send an invite? Since it's gonna be a pretty low-key night, I don't necessarily need help organizing. But am I obligated to offer Birch that role? Is it broadly considered impolite if I just say "hey I'm planning a party for Aspen and you're invited!" Sometimes I have blindspots around stuff like this.

Probably a stupid question incoming I am, and have always been, interested in ecommerce. The one thing I'm struggling to figure out is how to obtain the product you want to sell. For example, if my product was titanium rings, how do I go about obtaining this product in my branding/design in bulk to then sell? TIA!

I was 100% against going back to YouTube because I exclusively watch the watch parties. However, I’m wondering how much return the CDL gets from allowing watch parties because it seems people, myself included, only watch streamers and don’t tune into the CDL broadcast. You may say “viewership increases” but if they’re only tuning into watch parties then it’s not translating into a financial benefit for the CDL. Like truly, how many of you tuning into watch parties also simultaneously watch the main broadcast?
With the state that ESports and especially the CDL and it’s orgs is in, one of the only ways to generate revenue is exclusivity rights so they would be stupid to leave that much money on the table.
My guess is that the CDL and most of the owners want this deal as that money may be the only thing keeping this league from imploding, as we’ve seen from many sources that most of the orgs are struggling to keep afloat and regretting their decision with many selling, merging, or deferring payments.
Public opinion will obviously be against this as they love the watch parties (so do I), but I feel Hecz has a conflict of interest in the matter because the main reason he would be opposed would be because the biggest watch party is an Optic-ran one (Scumps) therefore, he’d obviously not want the deal which would come off as a bit selfish to the other orgs and ecosystem that is the CDL. This is also along with the assumption that Optic is one of the most financially stable orgs due to them taking up the vast majority of fan %. I feel Hecz will be one of the only forces against the deal because he will take the biggest hit and won’t notice the monetary injection whereas, the other orgs are desperate for this deal as they’re all sinking.

Ok I’m writing this down quickly so I don’t forget, so forgive me if there are any typos. These last few nights I’ve had some strange dreams. The night before last night I had a dream that I was being guided through a forest by a tall lady with purple hair. She took me to an apartment complex that looked like the one I stayed at when I was a kid. Then she took me to my old school, and it looked abandoned but there was one light on upstairs. I remember grabbing her arm because I was scared and She then turned to me and said “don’t be scared, we’ve gone through this forest many times.” All of the sudden, I was trapped in a small room. I tried to turn on the lights, but they wouldn’t turn on. The only light that turned on was a super dim red light.. and then POW! A super big flash of light! And then I woke up. Now here’s the weird part, I felt the presence of my deceased cats (I lost them 6 months ago as of now) but I never actually saw them. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that they were here. It was such a strong feeling that I woke up crying. Dream #2 probably won’t be as detailed because I kinda forgot most of it already.. but this one is directly about Santisima. I was dreaming that I was changing the water on her altar, something I do every day, but this time the water was super cloudy and bubbly. It looked like watered down milk. While I was changing the water, the fire alarm in my house began to go off. I started to panic. But a few seconds later, the alarm shut off. I refilled her water and placed it on her altar and it began bubbling like crazy!! Almost as if it was boiling, but without heat. I remember trying to walk out of my room but I tripped over a metal ladder..? Of all things?? But yeah the dream ended there. I strongly feel like these two dreams might have meanings. All help is appreciated. :)

Like the flair says, this is just my opinion, don't get your panties all up in a bunch.
I supported Pierre's leadership run because I liked most of what he was saying, and more importantly, he was pretty good on the hustings doing retail politics. At least significantly better than Scheer and O'Toole were, that's for sure. To win a leadership you need to appeal to the base, and in the CPC that often means social conservative platitudes, which clashes with the fact that most swing voters in this country are socially liberal. Instead he picked a libertarian-populist hybrid message, which I think has more appeal to Canadians than many give it credit for. The idea that the government had gotten too big and bossy and needed to get back to the basics is something that can appeal to a lot of Canadians, not just conservatives.
As parliamentary leader though, I have no idea what Poilievre's angle is. The "why did Trudeau get fired as teacher" thing never landed in the first place, I'm not sure who he's trying to convince by digging that back up. I also don't get the increased focus on "woke", that term specifically will undoubtedly become synonymous with Ron DeSantis over the next few months (if it hasn't already), and "Canadian DeSantis" isn't a label that will win you a federal election. I do like that he's calling out harm reduction based drug strategy, focusing on treatment is the right call. And finally on housing, while I agree with his general ideas, "get the government gatekeepers out of the way" isn't really landing, he needs to review that, focus more on specifics than platitudes. Housing could really be the decisive issue in the next election, but if you sound vague, there's no reason why anyone should trust that you'll be able to fix the issue others haven't been.
Finally, the polling. Tories are leading most polls, and that's great, but CPC numbers are still in the low-to-mid-30s, basically what Scheer and O'Toole got. The CPC lead is mostly coming from the NDP splitting off Liberal votes - in other words, more a Liberal slump than a Tory surge. But haven't we learned by now that the NDP polls well during the middle of the term, then a decent chunk of NDPers switch to the Liberals during the campaign? The slightest swing of NDP voters back to the Liberals, and you're back to a ScheeO'Toole scenario. With all that has happened, the opposition party should be able to see at least a slight surge, but CPC numbers have basically been stagnant during his whole leadership. Conservatives will often say things like "Jesus Christ how are 30% of Canadians still supporting this government", or worse, just throwing in the towel and saying "Canadians are too far gone" or something like that. But at some point the onus is on the opposition to change people's minds. If you don't give them something convincing, they'll stick with the devil they know.
So yeah, I think the CPC and specifically Poilievre's team need to re-think how they're handling the opposition role.

Here's the deal. I've got an idea of how one could construct a small ship out of bubble wrap and duct tape, but could not do it in real life as it would involve hundreds of thousands of metres of the stuff. If I were to try, however, would there be a way to cut costs, either a cheaper substance or (less likely, I'm sure) a way to more cheaply obtain bubble wrap?

What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?

1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Wife and I's leased vehicle was in an accident (my wife probably at fault but no documented police report saying that). We are on the last month of our lease for the vehicle and have already negotiated a deal for a new 3-year lease with a new vehicle. When speaking with the dealer, one option the dealer gave us was bring it in for appraisal, avoid insurance, and probably instead pay a slightly higher monthly payment on new lease, etc. but insurance doesn't have to pay for repairs. Basically the dealer does repairs and makes our next least a little more expensive.
No going through insurance sounds great, BUT, since there was another vehicle involved, I assume our insurance company will find out about this one way or another from the other party in the collision. So even if insurance doesn't actually pay to have the vehicle repaired, they'll still know my wife sucks at driving.
When it comes to potential future rate hikes by the insurance company due to this accident, will those rate hikes vary in amount based on if we have insurance pay for the repairs or not? Will they see that they didn't have to shell out money for this accident and be more lenient on us? Or do they look at it more from a risk point of view and who pays for repairs doesn't matter to them?
If it matters, we're in New York state. Insurance is State Farm. Wife and I both have >= 800 FICO scores. We've had 2 vehicles insured by SF for 10+ years with clean driving records except for a collision with a deer 4 years ago.

We have a birthday party in two days where we are going to be using a tie dye kit. It's a party for adults, not kids, and I want to try dyeing some yarn, or fiber for spinning. Has anybody tried dyeing commercial yarn? Any particular type/brand that would be better? Right now the only one I have is natural colored fisherman's wool, but I'm not sure if that will really take dye well. I could most likely find some white cotton yarn, but I'm not sure what else I might be able to find on short notice. I also have plenty of merino combed top of that might be my best bet.
Any tips for using a tie dye kit in this way? My experience in dyeing clothing with the kids' kits is that they fade significantly at first, and then maintain whatever is left after the first few washes. Any way I can set the color better? Is there any reason I should NOT try dyeing my yarn or fiber with a tie dye kit? I am not really interested in dyeing enough to purchase acid dyes and try that, but I don't want to totally waste my supplies if it's something that won't turn out well at all.

Okay so, I have some friends, and at one point I was going to lunch with them everyday, but I kinda stopped suddenly because the social interaction involved with that was making me REALLY nervous, And I started kinda showing up again, sometimes And obviously they've been doing friendgroup stuff without me, duh, I just want them to know that it's not like I'm not interested in hanging out with them, I just get overwhelmed sometimes,
So I mainly just wanted to apologize to them for being in and out of their lunchtimes without explanation, and for not really making an effort to hang out with them more,
But I'm wondering if I apologize, if that would make things awkward ? They seem ok with it, they haven't said anything about my absences, they don't seem to be all that attached to me, so maybe I can get away with not saying anything about it? Id kinda hate to admit that I find social interactions overwhelming sometimes, I want to seem cool ok, I don't want them to think I CARE more than they do, But at the same time I feel bad for not really hanging out with them, because they've planned an after graduation party without telling me about it at all, And I wonder if theyve stopped seeing me as their friend, and moreso as just someone who stops by every once in a while. Its not like I'm upset I wasn't invited, I can see why they wouldn't invite me,
But this event has just has shown me that I haven't been a good friend to them.
What should I do? Should I say sorry or should I just, I don't know. Should I, instead of apologizing, just remain wordless, and then prove to them over time, with my actions, that I do want to be their friend? Maybe apologizing would be awkward. I don't plan to really hang out with them until after my exams... But by then school is pretty much over and since they probably don't think I like them that much, they probably won't want to hang out with me or even maintain contact as we move to university.
Maybe I should just keep doing what I've been doing, swinging by whenever I feel like it, and just forget them and make new friends in university. I don't know. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill.
I mean I asked them if they were going to have a grad party today, which is the day before the party is actually happening Which is late as fuck, but they gave me the address and information.
Maybe I can make things right by just, being there with them more from now on ? It feels like too little too late. They don't seem bothered but y'know, I'm bothered by my lack of presence with these people I consider my friends.

Meta post time! TLDR: Reddit has threatened price increases to the software that allows most things that arent Reddit to function with Reddit. People are upset and the way to make that known is by showing possible effects through a blackout protest. Sub business first:
I'm sure many of you have been seeing all this drama about Reddit api and 3rd party apps. This subs focus has very little to do with the drama. It is a community and safe space for people who like Pokemon cards, nothing more and nothing less. The demographic for this sub has a wide range but also has a significant amount of younger users and it would be unfair to punish all users with a blackout taking away a safe space based on mod decisions alone. After some back and forth the mods currently find that it is best to continue to not take part in drama that has very little to do with the hobby. That said, this post is serving as feedback for those who are looking to understand or share more about what is happening. Feel free to leave any comments about this or anything else. If you feel this direction is in error, the community should make that known.

Hey everyone! It's u/Lyleberr again, your favorite and most vocal mod on the sub! Many of you have no need to care who I am, many who do know the name are often not happy about the moderation, but essentially I am the volunteer janitor of the sub who is also too wordy for their own good. I make sure that all the overly annoying posts (Mostly the things that break the sub rules) are quickly removed and that people are being civil. I dedicate a lot of time and effort to make this sub less annoying for everyone while also trying to keep people positive and on topic. I volunteered for helping mod this sub so that I could be the positive change that I wanted to see in the community and have hopefully been semi-successful at it. I do not have any affiliation with Pokemon or Reddit, I am not paid in any way, I also do my best to not powertrip unnecessarily, Im just a fan of the Pokemon community and want to do what I can to make it better for everyone. I also have a fairly old account and enjoy interacting with most people on Reddit. I bring up these points about myself to highlight the human behind the screen and because no one knows how Reddit will react to any dissenting posts (Several mods in other subs were shadow banned "mistakenly due to heightened spam security" flagging them after they made their support posts). I also am posting without waiting for full authorization from the top mod because I feel that it is an important topic and a teaching opportunity for many so Im risking the consequences like being removed as a mod or having my account deleted by Reddit (not likely but it could happen).
As far as the specific protest and situation, if you use a 3rd party to view Reddit then it is something that effects you. If you enjoy this sub with minimal spam/annoying posts due to quick moderation, it is something that may effect you. Spread the news of what and why it is happening and help keep it relevant. For what its worth, the mods support the intention but find that a smaller scale sub with a younger userbase is not the type of client that will sway the Reddit admins.
I suggest this subs discord in the sidebar if you are willing to protest Reddit itself or even just getting on less. If this goes through and 3rd party apps close, IT WILL EFFECT THE MODERATION OF THE SUB. It definitely will change frequency and ability for current mods to effectively moderate the sub. It will not be a death knell to the sub since moderation will still happen on desktop, but it is less convenient for everyone. My goals in modding are to help and I will do it for as long as I am allowed. I will be disappointed if many of the usernames I have grown used to seeing and their collection updates are no longer able to participate in the sub due to Reddits decision. I think that every user should participate in the blackout to the extent that they are able.
For many this rants next part doesnt apply but this sub is comprised of many people who may not qualify as an adult yet and this part is for them.
You may not understand or care about or even support this protest and thats OK. It may help or it may not and thats OK as well. I do ask you to keep this in mind though, Change can only be achieved when you are willing to make the difference, it starts with yourself. Every single person who visits the sub, lurker and subscriber, has the power to make their immediate surroundings better online and in life. There will be many times in the future where a business makes a decision that isnt correct for the customer, learning now the methods on how to do something about it will go further than whatever the outcome is. There is strength in numbers when against an entity and strength in numbers when making financial decisions toward a business. You all have a voice and when those voices come together, even a large business will hear it. Many hands moving for a common goal make work easier for each hand. Nothing says the status quo must stay constant forever and it is important to be part of shaping the future to how you will want it, after all you will be the one in it.
I dont know what will happen with this protest but if there is one thing it should show everyone is that people CAN come together for a goal. I know this is a much more idealistic post that many others are doing but it is important to me to spread the information that the ideals of a protest are not just singular things that pass by on a day like a birthday or holiday but can always be there, and that it takes people together to get it done.

I'm planning on preordering the Pioneer as soon as it's available for a couple reasons even though it's going to be at least $1500 for the board alone. That's because there is a new Minecraft server software called Folia which is extremely multithreaded, which is a revolutionary new thing in the Minecraft server world. Unfortunately, to take advantage of it, your processor needs at least 16 cores (not threads), which most desktop CPUs don't qualify for as well as many server VMs. Fortunately, the Pioneer has a full 64 of them, which is basically unequaled elsewhere with the only viable competition being Threadrippers at datacenters. The other reason I'm preordering it is because 64 cores might be good for processing bulk data which my internship is going to have a lot of.
So, is anybody else in a similar position as mine?

Choose the "host" that matches your current PC, probably Windows or macOS

Download ArchiveTeam Warrior

1. In VirtualBox, click File > Import Appliance and open the file.
2. Start the virtual machine. It will fetch the latest updates and will eventually tell you to start your web browser.

Once you’ve started your warrior:

1. Go to http://localhost:8001/ and check the Settings page.
2. Choose a username — we’ll show your progress on the leaderboard.
3. Go to the "All projects" tab and select ArchiveTeam’s Choice to let your warrior work on the most urgent project. (This will be Reddit).

Hey folks, large amounts of Reddit subs are going dark starting June 12th for 48 hours to protest the API changes that will break all 3rd party phone apps. I personally use Joey for this Reddit account, and several of our other mods use 3rd party clients or find this very annoying. I understand where Reddit is coming from, they should charge for data at least with for profit apps or using Reddit to train AI, but community and open source stuff is different. Let me know what you think, we'll run this poll till Friday the 9th then decide on Saturday the 10th if we go dark on Monday June 12th so that everyone gets plenty of warning.

We'd also LOVE A WOMAN if any of you are willing. Best way to get noticed? Report stuff to us via Chat or DM or modmail, offer helpful suggestions, etc. Show us expertise in automoderator. Do some research for the FAQ.
We're cracking down on F4M ads that don't use an actual neighborhood or suburb name and just say generic stuff like Dallas or Fort Worth or "Downtown" since most of that activity is spam. It doesn't have to be your actual suburb for your privacy, it can be nearby. Live in Plano? Say Carrolton or Allen. We're going to nuke first, then ask you to appeal. Sorry for that, I know it's a pain, but we've gotten maybe one appeal in the last six months, which says to me that everything we nuked was probably spam unless we discouraged actual real posters so much they didn't even bother to appeal which seems crazy.
We have a LOT of folks sending modmail about the automoderator post format. Please get it right. And low effort means you need at least like 140 characters- if you're posting less than that go get on Twitter or a dating app or something lol.

Sending dick pics in Texas without a request is a CRIME. That's right, it's a class C misdemeanor which might show up on a background check. Don't do it. If someone reports it, you will be permabanned. Someone has to explicitly say "Send me a dick pic" either in their post or in a chat / DM to you. RULES ADDITION: If you say "Check out my profile, there's pics you might like" and you have for instance, pinned or recently posted a bunch of dick pics, you better include a warning "There's dick pics or nudes" or we will ban you for two weeks or a month if reported. Don't try to trick girls into seeing your dick in a link on Reddit, your Reddit profile, or offsite to a photo album or other site by telling them to click on or open something that immediately has dicks without warning them. We will ban for this if it looks sketchy like you were trying to trick her or deliberately didn't warn. Note: If someone has to go scroll multiple pages back to find a dick pic, that's not what we're worried about. We're worried about guys trying to get girls to click on their profiles and stuffing it full of dicks immediately on open or the next page. You can post in here even if you've got dick pics in your recent history or even pinned as long as you don't try to get girls to open your profile. You can tell a girl you have a Fetlife or offsite notoriously NSFW site profile, it's probably expected there's nudes there, but please be courteous and warn them.
Always post your general area in your ad title or the post itself. Scammers don't know our area and thus the automatically posted spam stuff won't have geographic details and lots of scammers will pick an implausible area. Posting just Dallas or Fort Worth isn't specific enough, pick a neighborhood, and some scammers just say "downtown" without saying which downtown. If you're concerned about anonymity, an easy fix is to pick a place near yours. You're in Lower Greenville IRL? On here, you're posting from Lakewood or Deep Ellum, problem solved.

1. We're continuing to ban dick pic senders, spammers, etc. Please continue to report stuff to us via the report button or with screenshots via DM / Chat or . I'm pretty sure reporting bad DMs will get people banned from Reddit as well. 3. Reminder to think with your head, not your dick. There's constant spam and scams and other stuff going on, we moderators can't sit in front of our PCs 24x7 and nuke posts. Learn how to spot bad shit and don't do anything stupid. A good tip is to take any messaging username given to you and search Reddit or Google for it to look for other accounts or scammy behavior. The majority of F4M posts that don't obey our rules and format are scams. And NEVER give a girl money in any format whether gift card, CashApp, Venmo, whatever before a meetup. For some reason, the majority of scammer posts are like 22 or 24 or 27 Fs. If a younger girl is asking for some crazy shit, take a breath and ask why? Learn how to reverse search images to look for stolen pics. Common spam signatures include "#Dallas" or "#FortWorth" in the title, a single paragraph demanding a bunch of edgy sex acts, posting in FreeKarma4U or other a few random subs to get upvotes. Always search Kik names and other social media usernames on Google and Reddit- it's amazing how many are reused for scams.
4. Remember, one post per user per day. And you cannot post the same ad more than once in a week- this means you can post totally different things but don't just change the title or post slightly. Don't repeat your posts. It looks spammy and we will give you a one week ban.
5. We've had a couple folks show up begging for gift cards or other help. This really creeps me out and probably violates the Reddit rules. I think Dallas has a list of resources that can help, please go there instead of asking in here. We suspect many of these are scams too.
6. Reddit chat was bugged for a while. If you've got unread chats that won't go away, check https://old.reddit.com/chat/ to see the message requests you aren't getting.
