We are DIY remodeling our house (flooring, paint, etc.) and of course have found many issues the previous owners glossed over or cut corners on. We're slogging through, however one thing we actually need to fully change is the clothes dryer outlet. Our dryer has a four prong outlet whereas the one there now is a three prong. There is a ground wire in the washer outlet but none in the three prong outlet for the dryer. The ground for the four prong outlet is quite large whereas the ground for the washer is smaller. Is there any issue piggybacking the ground from the washer to the new dryer outlet? Do we need to run a new ground? I am under the impression we can pigtail grounds but wasn't sure if we would run into issues having different sized grounds. Obviously MORE than happy to have an electrician come out if needed but I feel confident doing simple electrical work if that's what this truly is.

I want to share a little struggle I've been facing in the classroom lately. We had an initiative in the school to make the children more interested in STEM, It seems like engaging my 7-9 year old students in science has been quite a challenge, i love science in general but is quite hard to make kids feel passion about that right? Or it's just me?
So, here's what I've been doing this year until now:
I've been getting my students involved in cool experiments like creating slime, building paper airplanes, and exploring the properties of water. It's amazing how their eyes light up when they see science in action! I took my students on outdoor expeditions, a farm actually near to the school, where we observed plants and animals, explore the nature, and even do some fun scavenger hunts, they allowed me to do that for one entire day. We watch universe documentaries or science-related movies that spark their curiosity and get them asking questions. I also recommended a subscription (to their parents obviously) called circuitmess, it's a monthly subscription box that combines electronics and coding, and it allows them to create their own gadgets and stuff. I won't lie, it's been a journey, but now I see a bit of interest in my students' eyes. They're sharing their newfound knowledge and even their parents are telling me, that makes me very happy!
I'd like to know if you do something else to push a bit in this direction. I don't want them all to be scientists don't get me wrong but, We don't have anything on my school that allows them to discover this world, that's why we started with this initiative.
What other things can I do?

OOTD ocean edition part 2, fog (L + D?)
I've worn this top and pants combo once before and kinda filed it away to repeat, and the ocean challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to revisit it with more intentional and bold accessorizing.
This is a leftie's dream - the stretch silk camisole, floaty drapey silk top layer, and drapey, stretchy jersey pants. Even the heels are from Walking Cradles and are in a WW width, so they are really built to accommodate my feet. In some ways this is at the upper edge of my comfort zone, but at the same time I do feel easeful, sensual, and in touch with a softer side of my moody personality. I feel a kind of quiet drama that I'm into.
Initially I put on a pair of slate blue loafers with the idea of "grounding" the outfit, but they literally dragged the outfit down - too casual, too heavy. Maybe another shoe out there in the universe would balance better, but of what I have available I'm happy with these heels. They have an almost pearly champagne finish and are embossed with what I think is supposed to be a snakeskin pattern but looks equally to me like fish scales or even shark skin.
This top was a total impusle buy, definitely not something that checks the boxes of what I typically shop for, which goes to show that when my creative intuition speaks louder than my taxonomical brain, I should listen.

2023.06.07 17:20 VanNullen Pokémon Black Nuzlocke: Better a Simisage or a Petilil?

Hello everyone! I'm currently into my second run with Black, and found myself with two Grass types on the team.
I still have to beat the electric gym, and my Simisage has Dig. He's more of a physical attacker as far as I understand, and he also has a stab Seed Bomb.
My Petilil seems more of a Special Attacker, and I kind of lack one in the team: I got a Yamask, a Tranquil, a Blitzle, and my starter, a Pignite. Also, there is nothing of actual value in the box for now due to a couple of deaths. My Petilil is level 25 now, and I wanted to try and get her to level 35 to get Energy Ball before evolving her with the stone and going to recover the dancing moves with the npc.
Simisage seems to have better general stats though, and I am really uncertain about who to keep in the team. The thing is, I do not have any good replacements for now, apart from going to get my Tirtouga awoken in the museum.
Does anybody have any advice? I should probably wait and see for now, but I'm already wondering for the future of the run (if I survive that long).

Introduction:
Recently, ReasonOnFaith made a post titled: The Story of Moses and the Wise One (often referred to as Khidr): video from Apostate Aladdin.
Within this post, Reason on Faith says:
Here, ApostateAladdin does an excellent job is dissecting how nonsensical this narrative is. The plot holes, dangerous moral implications, and more.
My response:
Before I reply to the video, I want to share why I'm even replying to this after saying I was not interested in doing so at first.
I didn't see this post on my Reddit feed nor did I have any interest in reading it or watching the video and even replying to it.
However, I got notified of it the moment a couple of Ahmadis on that post tagged me and a few others out of the blue to essentially question why we Sunnis are not replying to it.
There was also some other person in the comment section called Redsulphur something who replied to me asking me to watch the video after my comment below that was in response to his post:
The story of Khidr reminds me of a video I once saw but can no longer locate. It featured a person who walked out of a store with a bag carrying milk. Unfortunately, they slipped near a car, and the milk spilt all over the ground. From their perspective, it was a goof-up. Little did they know, when they got back up and left in annoyance, a thirsty cat emerged from underneath the car and began lapping up the spilt milk.
This story like Khidr conveys an important lesson about how life is unpredictable and the hidden wisdom behind seemingly unfortunate events.
It serves as a reminder that what may appear as a mistake or a loss can sometimes lead to unexpected benefits or blessings. Just like Khidr's actions in the story, there might be deeper reasons behind certain occurrences that we cannot fully comprehend at first glance so from this perspective there's nothing nonsensical in it.
I'm pretty certain this Redsulphur something replied saying he heard this when he was a Muslim and that I should watch the video. His comment was in reply to mine and it has been removed (or is yet to be approved?). Either way, upon reading that comment, I wanted to see if Apostate Alladin actually addressed this perspective of mine in the video and so I decided to watch a bit of the video purely out of curiosity and I have to say I'm really surprised at the level of deception this man Apostate Aladdin is getting away with here.
The Deception of Apostate Alladin:
Not even 8 minutes into the video this man totally assumes a contradiction and leaves things out to do so.
To prove this, I'm only going to respond to something he says from the minutes 6:50-8:01.
You can watch this part of the video yourself to see if I'm being faithful in transcribing what he says.
Apostate Alladin says:
"I'll start my commentary by pointing out the inconsistencies in both the sources and the plot and I'll interlace the critique of the plot in between. As I mentioned earlier, in one version of the story Musa voluntarily said he's not aware of someone on Earth more knowledgeable than him. And I understand why Allah would want to admonish him for this potential arrogance. But in another narration, he was asked who the most knowledgeable man is and answered 'I am'.
In both versions, he didn't overstep into Allah's domain and say 'I know more than Allah' just that as far as he knew he had more knowledge than other humans [yet] still Allah gets jealous when he's not talked about 24/7 so yeah preferably he should have said 'I know the most thanks to Allah' or something of the sort.
But in yet another narration neither of those events take place, it was during a conversation with God that Musa asked how he could better himself and whether there's a more knowledgeable man he could learn from.
These are three very different beginnings to the story. One is somewhat arrogant the other is less arrogant and the third is completely humble. These contradictions are not deemed by Muslim scholars to be consequential or majors of course but I think they're noteworthy."
Apostate Alladin's main claims here are:
P1. There are three different versions of the first part of the story.
P2. These three contradict one another.
C: Therefore this is a plot hole.
Let's see if this is true and thankfully Apostate Alladin provides the sources he uses in the description. The first report he shares is Sahih Muslim 2380c and reads as:
Moses had been delivering sermons to his people. And he made this remark: No person upon the earth has better knowledge than I or nothing better than mine. Thereupon Allah revealed to him: I know one who is better than you (in knowledge) or there is a person on the earth having more knowledge than you. Thereupon he said: My Lord, direct me to him...
In bold is the part Apostate Alladin shows on the screen in his screenshot.
But what do we learn from this report?
  1. The story begins with Moses first delivering sermons to his people.
  2. He said (during this sermon) 'No person upon the earth has better knowledge than I or nothing better than mine.'
  3. Allah corrected him and he asks to be directed to this person.
Apostate Alladin says this story makes him "somewhat arrogant" but oddly enough he seems to think this contradicts the second report which reads as follows in Sahih al-Bukhari 3401:
...Ubai bin Ka`b told us that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Once Moses stood up and addressed Bani Israel. He was asked who was the most learned man amongst the people. He said, 'I.' Allah admonished him as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). So, Allah said to him, 'Yes, at the junction of the two seas there is a Slave of Mine who is more learned than you.' Moses said, 'O my Lord! How can I meet him?'
In bold are the parts shown on the screenshot.
Apostate Alladin underlines "He was asked" in the screenshot to point out this is a contradiction because the first report doesn't add the details "he was asked" but that he makes the remark.
What we learn from this report is:
  1. Moses stood up and addressed his people (meaning he was giving a sermon).
  2. He was asked who is the most learned man among the people and replies 'I am'.
  3. Allah corrects Moses and says 'Yes, at the junction of the two seas there is a Slave of Mine who is more learned than you.'
The third report is where the deception gets clear.
Apostate Alladin makes it out like the first part isn't mentioned in this tafsir. However, the link he shares just above it has the same details as the above two reports within it.

Allah (Exalted is He) ordered Musa عليه السلام to remind his people of this blessing. So, he stood up and gave them an eloquent sermon, because of which hearts were softened and eyes shed tears. Then, they asked him, “Who is the most knowledgeable of mankind?”
He replied, “I am.”
And in another narration, they asked, “Do you know anyone more knowledgeable than yourself?”
He said, “No.”
So, Allah gently corrected him, because he did not refer the knowledge back to Allah (Honored and Majestic is He). So, Allah revealed to him, “I have a servant who is more knowledgeable than you. He is at the junction of the two seas.”
Apostate Alladin does not share that the article reads that above but only shows the below:
Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنه has said:
“Musa عليه السلام asked his Lord, ‘Which of Your slaves is more beloved to you?’
“He replied, ‘He who remembers Me and does not forget Me.’
“Musa عليه السلام said, ‘Which of Your slaves is more judicious?’
Allah replied, ‘He who judges by the truth and does not follow his desires.’
“Musa عليه السلام said, ‘Which of Your slaves is more knowledgeable?’
“Allah said, ‘He who learns knowledge from others, adding to his own knowledge. Perhaps he will receive a word that either guides or wards off from him destruction.’
Musa عليه السلام said, ‘My Lord! If there is anyone among Your slaves who is more knowledgeable than me, indicate him to me.’
“Allah replied, ‘Khidhr is more knowledgeable than you.’
What Apostate Alladin also leaves out is that the article reads the following:
Shortly, we will tell the entire story. However, the hadith that mentions Musa عليه السلام was giving a sermon is the one that is in Sahih Bukhari. And Allah (Exalted is He) knows best which of the versions is more correct.
Is there a contradiction?
Is there really a contradiction between reports 1 and 2?
They both talk about Moses (عليه السلام) addressing his people. The second one just adds before he said his remark that he asked a question. The first one doesn't deny that a question was asked; this was an assumption made by Apostate Alladin to make it seem like a contradiction here. At the same time, he leaves out the bit which shows Moses (عليه السلام) was being humble by asking to be directed to this person.
The problem with Apostate Alladin's approach is he is taking both reports to share all the details and give a word-for-word transcript. Report one even specifically reads as anything but a transcript. See how it reads that Moses said "No person upon the earth has better knowledge than I or nothing better than mine."
The only inconsistency he can argue is with report 3, but even then... that's by a Sahabi!
Not the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)‎, and even then... this is a report found in a tafsir, and anyone who is read up on Islam would know they could often contain reports attributed to Sahaba, and the chain of which may not even be authentic.
That said, Apostate Alladin simply reaches to try and make a plot hole where there isn't, and I just wasted my time writing this all up. Fair to say I won't be watching or wasting my time commenting on the rest of the video because of this.

    • limit Maximum amount of blocks that the delegated post-processor can transform

Rule post-processor block entity configuration

  • Previously a rule could specify an optional fixed output_nbt which would be added to the processed output block entity
  • This field has now been changed to reference a block_entity_modifier
  • Existing block_entity_modifier's are:
    • passthrough Retains existing fields on the block entity
    • This is the default if no block_entity_modifier is specified
    • append_static Similar to previous output_nbt this provides fixed fields to add to the block entity
    • A minor change is that this modifier appends configured fields to the processed block instead of replacing existing fields
    • clear Removes any existing fields on the block entity
    • append_loot Appends a loot table and seed to the block entity through required parameter:
    • loot_table Referenced loot table to add to block entity as LootTable field
    • Field LootTableSeed is also added to the block entity using random seeded by block position

  • Triggered when crafting a recipe
  • Conditions:
    • recipe_id - the resource location of the recipe crafted
    • ingredients - an array of predicates for the item stacks used in the recipe
    • A single item stack can only be used to fulfill one predicate
    • Each predicate needs to be fulfilled to trigger the advancement. This allows for separation between recipes that have same identifier but use different ingredients.
    • This field is optional. When not provided, or left empty, only the recipe_id will dictate the success of the trigger

Changed Triggers

  • All fields in placed_block, item_used_on_block and allay_drop_item_on_block have been collapsed into a single location field
  • The new location is similar to the player field - it is a list of loot conditions/predicates
  • All conditions in this list must match for a trigger to run
  • Conditions are evaluated in a new loot context called advancement_location. It has access to:
    • Player as this entity
    • Position of the placed block

  • New glyph provider for reading Unifont HEX files
    • HEX format describes font glyphs using a bitmap
    • The height of every glyph is 16 pixels
    • The width of glyph can be 8, 16, 24 or 32 pixels
    • Every line is made of two hexadecimal numbers separated by :
    • The first value describes a codepoint - it must have 4, 5 or 6 hex digits
    • The second value describes the glyph as a stream of bits, line by line
  • When rendering, empty columns on left and right side of glyphs are removed
    • Custom glyph widths can be set with size_overrides
  • This provider requires two fields:

Symbolic Link Validation

To improve safety, the game will now detect symbolic links used inside world directory. For a detailed explanation, check our help article.
  • If the target of a symbolic link is not on the user-configured allow-list, the game will not proceed with loading the world
    • Note: the world directory itself can still be linked
  • The list of allowed symbolic link targets is stored in file allowed_symlinks.txt in the client or server top directory
  • The file consists of entries (one per line) with following formats allowed:
    • Lines starting with # are comments and are ignored
    • [type]pattern, where type can be glob, regex or prefix
    • prefix matches start of path with given pattern (so for /test paths /test, /test/ and /test/foo.txt would match)
    • regex matches regular expression against whole path
    • glob uses OS-specific path matching mechanism (for example *.txt would usually match files with txt extension)
    • Note: paths will use OS-specific separators
    • pattern, which uses default prefix type

In preparation for the Calibrated Sculk Sensor, vibration frequencies have been greatly simplified to prevent unwanted interference. The following are category descriptions for each frequency and the expected events that they correspond to:
  1. Movement in any medium (land, water and air)
  2. Landing on any surface (land or water)
  3. Item interactions
  4. Gliding with an elytra or unique mob actions (Ravager roar, Wolf shaking, etc)
  5. Dismounting a mob or equipping gear

  7. Mobs and players getting damaged
  8. Consuming items (drinking and eating)
  9. Blocks 'deactivating' (door close, chest close, button unpress, etc)

Light Engine

The light engine is responsible for calculating the brightness of each block in the world. Light is calculated during world generation as well as updated when a block is changed in the world. Behavior of the light engine has not been changed.

Display Entity

Interpolation Changes

  • Previous values are always discarded if interpolation_duration is 0
  • Made sure that render properties are applied at the same time (so block_state is applied at the same time as transformation, i.e. at the next tick after receiving an update)
  • Display entities are not rendered until their initial data is received. That means display entities might not be shown on the first tick.
  • Note: due to how the game handles updates, changes to entities made after summoning might be delivered to clients within a later tick

Rendering Changes

  • item_display items have been rotated 180 degrees around the Y axis to better match the transformation that is applied when rendering items on an Armor Stand head and in Item Frames
    • For reference, the order of transformations applied to model (starting from innermost) is item_transform, rotate Y 180, transformation field, entity orientation (billboard option + Rotation field + Pos field)

Capped post-processor

  • A capped post-processor has been added which can limit how many blocks a delegated post-processor randomly transform in a structure
  • This can be used to configure a structure piece to have an exact amount of specific blocks, instead of using random distribution
  • The capped post-processor has following required parameters:
    • delegate A post-processor which performs the actual block transformation
    • limit Maximum amount of blocks that the delegated post-processor can transform
    • The blocks inside a structure are all randomly passed to the delegated post-processor until it has transformed the limited amount
    • Either constant or random number generator sampled during post-processing

Rule post-processor block entity configuration

  • Previously a rule could specify an optional fixed output_nbt which would be added to the processed output block entity
  • This field has now been changed to reference a block_entity_modifier
  • Existing block_entity_modifier's are:
    • passthrough Retains existing fields on the block entity
    • This is the default if no block_entity_modifier is specified
    • append_static Similar to previous output_nbt this provides fixed fields to add to the block entity
    • A minor change is that this modifier appends configured fields to the processed block instead of replacing existing fields
    • clear Removes any existing fields on the block entity
    • append_loot Appends a loot table and seed to the block entity through required parameter:
    • loot_table Referenced loot table to add to block entity as LootTable field
    • Field LootTableSeed is also added to the block entity using random seeded by block position

Loot Tables

Random Sequences

The game now uses named random sequences to deterministically produce loot for loot tables. Each random sequence produces a unique sequence based on the world seed and sequence ID, which means a loot table will produce the same results when ran with the same parameters in the same world.
The ID of the random sequence to use for a loot table is specified in a new optional field called random_sequence. If no sequence name is given, loot is drawn using a non-deterministic random source.

New function reference allows functions to call sub-functions (similar to reference condition).

any_of/all_of

  • Loot condition alternative has been renamed to any_of
  • Added new loot condition all_of that passes only when all sub-conditions pass

New Triggers

recipe_crafted

  • Triggered when crafting a recipe
  • Conditions:
    • recipe_id - the resource location of the recipe crafted
    • ingredients - an array of predicates for the item stacks used in the recipe
    • A single item stack can only be used to fulfill one predicate
    • Each predicate needs to be fulfilled to trigger the advancement. This allows for separation between recipes that have same identifier but use different ingredients.
    • This field is optional. When not provided, or left empty, only the recipe_id will dictate the success of the trigger

Changed Triggers

  • All fields in placed_block, item_used_on_block and allay_drop_item_on_block have been collapsed into a single location field
  • The new location is similar to the player field - it is a list of loot conditions/predicates
  • All conditions in this list must match for a trigger to run
  • Conditions are evaluated in a new loot context called advancement_location. It has access to:
    • Player as this entity
    • Position of the placed block
    • Block state of the placed/interacted block
    • Held/used item as "tool"
  • Migration guide:
    • Contents of old location field should be migrated to location_check condition
    • Contents of item field should be migrated to match_tool condition

2023.06.07 16:58 MartianBlobfish Primary Weapon Ideas.

Felt like thinking of some weapon concepts just cause, one primary weapon for each dwarf. These are just basic ideas with not much thought put into it outside of the core concept, so not many mod or overclock ideas. Also I don't have all the overclocks and there's allot I don't have much experience with so there's a chance these idea are already in the game to some extent or they just won't work at all. Heads up this is a long post.
Scout: Gonna start with Scout because I had the hardest time thinking of an idea for him, most of his primaries allow for rapid fire and can be used on the run but I couldn't think of anything like that that hadn't already been done. I thought it'd be cool to lean more into the Scout's ability to reposition himself so I thought of a weapon that capitalists on his movement. Not good with names but I'll try to come up with one for each, I'll call this one the 'RTN Policy'. When firing with this gun every bullet will embed themselves into terrain/enemies/dwarfs they're shot into and when you alt fire the bullets are returned or 'RTN'ed to your gun, damaging any enemy they hit. RTNing doesn't use ammo. These bullets can also crit while RTNing and this weapon doesn't damage fellow Dwarfs, since I figured RTNing bullets from other Dwarves would be fun so removing friendly fire would incentivize doing that. Also only a certain amount of bullets can be out at once, once too many bullets are in the level the older ones would disappear.
Driller: Next up my main, the Driller's primaries don't deal critical damage and are good at AOE/Crowd Control, they also tend to be elementally themed. He's also not that good at dealing at ranged enemies so I thought of something that kinda helps with that, I'm gonna call it the 'Thunder Coil'? Too similar to the Coil Gun... How about the 'Arc Surge'? Eh good enough. The Arc wouldn't really help with long range enemies but it'd be useful for Mactera, instead of the AOE effect being applied to the ground instead the electricity would linger in the air after firing the weapon, the main attack also automatically arcs to targets in range when attacking making it better at hitting fast moving targets. Though it'd probably deal less damage, trading it for consistency instead. I'm not too familiar with Lightning damage so this one's probably not the most thought out idea. I guess an overclock similar to the Ice Spear could be cool for it too, like instead of a spear you just shoot out a bolt of lightning, probably consuming a lot of ammo.
Gunner: The only real element of Gunner's primaries that I think are consistent are: Sustained fire, they shoot kinda fast and have allot of ammo. For Gunner I wanted to think of a way to make renewable ammo work, like being able to get ammo back without needing a resupply, and I think I thought of a way to make it work in a way that has a substantial enough trade off. I call it the '"Bug Mulcher" Full Auto Shredder'. The main gimmick for the Mulcher is that it has less ammo than normal but your alt fire is a melee attack that chops up bugs and turns them into ammo. This would give the gunner another effective close range primary and would incentivize an aggressive playstyle that's similar to the new Doom games. However there's a cap to how high your ammo can get when gaining ammo this way, so if you want to fight at range for longer you'd need to restock. The early ideas for this weapon had the alt fire dig up the terrain for ammunition, slower than the drills though, didn't feel like it'd work out that well but Idk could work for an overclock.
Engineer: His Primaries don't really have that much overlap but one element I really like is how some of his primaries interact with his turrets, and I kind of wanted to think of one that interacted with his platforms instead. Not sure on the name but how's 'HE-1 Micro Diffuser'? This weapon would have you shoot out a beam that does good damage and also projects a sphere around the end of the beam, any terrain in that sphere heats up damaging any enemy that touches it. So this would be great for Crowd Control but not the best at dealing with airborne targets. The weapon would have a tier 5 mod, lets call it 'Heat Transfer', this mod would make it so the heat effect can travel through Engineers Platforms, so if part of a chain of connected platform is inside the beam's sphere the heat will effect the entire platform chain. Though maybe the heat should have some sort of range, so at a certain distance the damage trails off and eventually drops to 0, to keep it from becoming too broken.
Those were my ideas, I'm very aware how some of these are a bit similar to some of Driller's kit, he my main sorry. Anyway I really like the game, I hope you guys find these ideas interesting.

It's cold. But when it's winter it must be cold. And that's the problem. You either have to pay for heat or get tired with getting coal or wood, starting the fire and checking it doesn't spread. Going out is a torture. You have to put in a dozen layers of clothes. Underwear, pants, short-sleeved shirt, long-sleeved shirt, sweatshirt, boots, neck warmer, hat, gloves. To go out to a shop that is on the ground level or just around the corner, you need all this wearing and getting tired. Winter clothes are heavy, limit motions, sometimes even visibility, and are hard to put on and put off. So buying those is hard and even if you do, then they're hard to walk in. Summer and spring don't have those problems, because you can put on clothes for outdoors and indoors, just change boots and you're alright.
And winter is such a great time to get sick. And the worst thing is having a stuffed nose and have to breathe with your mouth, with this cold air. Throat damage guaranteed, plus this pain in the face from the cold air blowing in your direction. Summer and spring don't have such problems. And winter has the highest amount of deaths of all the seasons. I literally got a frostbite because I touched snow with my bare hands because I didn't have gloves on them. And if you're healthy and put on the clothes, there's another problem.
Getting around. Most of us are rich and have a car and can drive wherever they want. But if you can't, you have to use public transit. I don't have anything about just using it or the fact of the existence of public transit, but the quality of those in Poland, where I live, leaves much to be desired. You have to wait, in cold. In a city this isn't a problem as big as in the rural areas where buses function. These are often coming only in early mornings and in early afternoon, but even if they come more often, they often are late. And no matter the location, you often have to stand, and even if you find a seat, you can sometimes smell people who don't shower very often. Trams, trains, metros and buses are often heated, like most indoor places, we'll get to that later, and people coming there in winter are usually in jackets and sweat in those vehicles, especially considering how crowded they often get and how warm those crowded people are. You'll sweat like a construction worker after 8 hours of work during a heatwave. And driving doesn't save you from the effects of winter. You have to scrape snow from your car, the engine can not start or the visibility is low and roads are blocked or icy, you can skid easily and crash into another car, a pedestrian, a pole or a tree. Walking does neither. If snow falls, it's crushed by people walking, melts and freezes again, and or forms ice on the sidewalk. And you can slip on it and either break something or die. Each time I walk on it, I think I'm gonna die. Either i slip on it and land on a spiked fence, I land on the sidewalk and break something, or I land on the street and get run over by a semi truck or a car. If you manage to get to your destination, there's another problem.
All the buildings are heated, so if you're in winter clothes, you're going to sweat like a construction worker after 8 hours of work during a heatwave.
It's dark half the day. You go to work or school, dark, you go back, dark. And the other half it's cloudy and grey. And the whole world dies. No leaves, no grass, no flowers, some animals hibernate, just grey, cloudy skies and white brown combination of snow, soil, water and mud. No sun. Sure, there are Christmas lights but let's face it, they are only to hide the grey and dark.
It's a hard time for students. The semester ends. You have to pass everything. They throw a lot of tests and quizzes at you. You will tire yourself to death.
Winter sports and games. Snowballs. I hate snowballs. Even if the person who throws one is someone I like. Usually, I take it easy, but in my mind, I hate it. Ice skating. I can't do that because the nearest lake or skating rink is too far away to walk. I could afford that, but I would need to wear all those clothes, get on the bus, ask my parents for approval, get back. No way. Skiing. I live in a city surrounded by forests and farm fields. No way. Sledding. Those are easier because I have some hills in my neighborhood, but going out, taking the sled, going back. Nope. Snowman. Going out. No.
And there are, CHRISTMAS IN WINTER. I'm fed up with them. Literally a few days after Halloween and All Saints Day, all the shops and malls are decorated, and Christmas songs are playing on the radio and Christmas commercials on TV. "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart...":“Christmas promotion! Bone carp, only 21.37 per package or a withered Christmas tree, 69.69 each plus delivery for 3.21. Holidays for Christmas, Old Zealand, 666.66 both ways. Christmas loans, only in Pierogi Bank Polski." Don't take Christmas loans, that's the stupidest thing you can do in that time of the year. They're still up everywhere, wherever I go, whatever I look at. Until the day finally arrives, December 24, when you are completely fed up with it. And it's not like I hate Christmas. Christmas in their current shape and theme are asking for dislike. You want to get up, leave, and come back when all this madness is over. But it's nice that we have time off and we get presents and meet our family. In the summer we have more free time, and on birthdays and name days we also get gifts and meet our family. But always something. And then there's another holiday.
New Year's Eve and New Year, when humans celebrate Earth going around the Sun once again, while nothing besides it happens in nature and humanity on those two days. You can do whatever you want on that day, and in my case, it'll be sitting on the couch in pajamas, watching TV and eating some unhealthy snacks like chips. Most people will spend it partying with friends and family and doing stuff together. And then, they will count from 10 to 1 like if a rocket was starting, and then fireworks explore, and dogs are scared. Afterwards, people will start to go home. And then you can't sleep the whole night because some idiots have too much fireworks and firecrackers, which is also a problem the whole winter.

I’m looking for a space for approx. 6 months in or around Liverpool to work on some personal projects… woodworking etc.
Big box storage units don’t tend to have electricity and they don’t want you to use tools. Everything else I find online is either a commercial unit / industrial workshops. As I won’t be selling anything I can’t justify an industrial unit with business rates etc, and the pieces I want to work on will be too big to work on at home, hence the need for a separate space - around 4x4m should be about right. Any suggestions?

To this day, 1500 years later, you are still being hunted & chased by the king’s immortal son, who has been seeking revenge ever since.

When the years you live aren’t important enough anymore for your mind to keep track off, events can start to blur into each other. You know that certain things happened, you even remember the way you felt, but the chronological order gets lost. Yet there is one moment in my immortal existence that won’t let me forget when it happened. It wasn’t even that important of a moment. Just some request from an acquaintance of an acquaintance from long ago, that I couldn’t pass up on. Go to this remote place, where some people figured themselves a nation, kill their king, profit. Did I need profit? Not really, but brothels weren’t exactly cheap at the time, if you wanted some insurance that you weren’t taking anything with you beyond a good time. So I executed the regicide, not my first, and sought my way back to – what I called – civilization.
The event was already starting to get lost in the machinations of my memory, when I got a message that some visitor was looking for me. I made sure that my identity and location were never the same for long, because my prolonged existence would raise the wrong questions from the wrong people, if they started noticing. I also made quite a lot of enemies along the way, which wasn’t that much of an issue, if all you had to do was outlive them. So someone getting this close to finding me was...unsettling, to say the least. It also sparked my curiosity, which according to a famous saying, was lethal to the cat. It was almost lethal to me as well, it turned out.
I had set out into the town where this visitor was last reported to be seen and spent my days bouncing between bar and brothel. The usual stuff, not making myself explicitly noticeable, but not exactly taking any measures on the contrary either. It had been a couple of days and I was starting to wonder if I had arrived to late, or maybe if there hadn’t been anyone looking for me at all. Yet, it was one evening, where it got later than normal, if you get what I mean, that I had this itch that something was about to happen. It’s the sort of itch that you develop from centuries of experience with moments right before stuff starts going wrong. The itch was particularly strong this night and I made sure that I wouldn’t get to drunk. When the last of the guests had left and I found myself in an empty saloon with only a barman and a duo of working girls, the itch became unbearable. Unwilling to put hard these hard working members of society in any unwarranted danger, I decided to go into the night for a stroll and see what it would draw out. As soon as I left the establishment, the hairs in my neck started rising, something that didn’t happen that often, mind you. I was suddenly struck by a primal fear insight my stomach and before if it wasn’t for my overdeveloped sense of self preservation, it would’ve been the end of me then and there. As I instinctively rolled to the side, a fluorescent arc of white-blue thunder his the spot where I had just been standing, scorching the sandy ground beneath. I felt my hair rising again, as I dodged a second bolt of electricity trying to strike me. Out of the darkness stepped a figure, cloaked in a black robe, with arcs of electricity sparking between his fingers, like he was playing with it. Yet he didn’t send another strike. Instead he revealed himself to me. He introduced himself as the son of a powerful noble in a region far from here. He was on a mission of vengeance against the one who killed his father. It didn’t really sparked the lost memory yet at that point. As I said, I had many enemies. Only when he removed the hood did I recognize him. That strong chin and those narrow eyes. He looked exactly like his father did all those years ago. And I mean many many years ago, so many that it didn’t make any sense. He left, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
Ever since, I can’t stay in the same place for too long. This time, I mean it quite literally, as in standing still could be lethal at any time. I have lost count of the many many lightning strikes that I have evaded. Some have struck me, in non lethal places. I have Lichtenberg patterns on my left arm and across my right side. I have learned to sleep for no more than an hour at a time, as I have been woken up by that same primal fear and raising of my hairs, way too many times. I wouldn’t dare risk it. I may be immortal, but as long as my body tells me that those strikes are so dangerous as to strike me – who had experienced almost everything a man can – down with fear, I will move. I know that I can’t outrun it forever. I have accepted the fact that I will one day be too late, too careless, too distracted. Maybe I deserved it, for my past sins are many. Until that day, I will be on the run.

2023.06.07 16:04 Snbridenbaugh Ground Wire Question

We are DIY remodeling our house (flooring, paint, etc.) and of course have found many issues the previous owners glossed over or cut corners on. We're slogging through, however one thing we actually need to fully change is the clothes dryer outlet. Our dryer has a four prong outlet whereas the one there now is a three prong. There is a ground wire in the washer outlet but none in the three prong outlet for the dryer. The ground for the four prong outlet is quite large whereas the ground for the washer is smaller. Is there any issue piggybacking the ground from the washer to the new dryer outlet? Do we need to run a new ground? I am under the impression we can pigtail grounds but wasn't sure if we would run into issues having different sized grounds. Obviously MORE than happy to have an electrician come out if needed but I feel confident doing simple electrical work if that's what this truly is.

Hey all, hoping for some feedback on the 2023 Ridgeline from you all! I am looking for a truck in the midsize range and the Ridgeline is towards the top of my list.
Some background: i currently have a subaru Impreza that i got when i went back to school, while its a great car im tired of filling it to the brim with my dog and gear (including cargo box on roof). Before this, i had an F250. So ive had far too much truck and not enough.
Now im looking for something in the middle. My coworker has a 2022 Ridgeline and he originally turned me on to the truck. I really like the bed features, 1500 lbs payload and 5000 lb towing is plenty for hauling around a 16’ aluminum boat twice a year - if i needed a hauler id get a full size. Its mostly going to be for trips up to the cabin, home depot, hunting, fishing, camping. All with the dog of course.
So id love to hear peoples experience with their 2023s, what do you love and what do you hate? Ive heard some gripes about the ACC, wireless charger, i have some concerns over the ground clearance - plan to get a small lift kit and maybe bigger tires so experiences there?

Sadira was born to Arielle Hart née Andersen and Morpheus, God of Dreams, in Buffalo, New York. Her mother, Arielle Hart née Andersen, was a professor of Sociology at a local university. Despite her demanding career, Arielle always made time for her daughter, instilling in Sadira a love for learning and an appreciation for the world around her. Their small apartment became a sanctuary of warmth and love amidst the challenges they faced.
The first dramatic change in Sadira’s life happened when she was six. One day, her mother came home with a man, who she introduced as her new boyfriend, Liam Hart, and his nine year old son, Oliver Hart. At first, Sadira was hostile towards this new man and child– why did they have to come along and take Arielle’s attention away from her? But she quickly warmed up on Liam (she was completely sold after the first time he made pancakes for her) and Oliver. And when Arielle and Liam got married a few years later, and moved Sadira was happy to have a father and an older brother, and they got really close as time went by.
Sadira had a pretty calm and normal childhood. It may have been because of Liam, who was protecting her behind the scenes, it may have been for other reasons, she had never had any monster attacks while growing up. And so, she was completely unaware of the world she belonged in.
But that came to an end a month after her 13th birthday, when strange things started to happen. It started with subtle signs, peculiar incidents that Sadira couldn't quite explain. Her friends began to experience unexplained drowsiness whenever she spoke to them, as if her presence invoked a profound sense of sleepiness. Later, she began having feeling of being constantly watched. The sensation followed her wherever she went, causing her to become increasingly paranoid. And , more recently, the world around her seemed to shift, and she caught glimpses of creatures straight out of mythology that shouldn't exist in the mortal realm. These encounters were unsettling for Sadira, to the point where she began genuinely questioning her own sanity, and decided to tell her family about it.
It was when she was on her way home from school that Sadira was suddenly attacked by a hellhound, an experience that could very well have been her last if it weren’t for the interference of Liam. As soon as Sadira was safe and sound, Arielle and Liam decided to tell her all of the truth about herself, and in a way, about Liam too. They revealed that everything she had read about Greek Mythology was real, that she was the child of a god , and that Liam himself was also a demigod, son of Apollo, which was the reason he could heal her so quickly. In less than an hour, Sadira found out what she was, who her father was, who her stepfather was, and, on top of all of that, she received the news that she would have to leave her home to go to Camp Half-Blood, a place where she could be safe from monsters and learn to defend herself before against them, and Liam would be the one to take her there. It was overwhelming for her, and she was scared and confused about everything. However, even if that was the case, had to admit to herself that she was somewhat excited. Yes, she knows that her life would be harder and almost constantly in danger, but for daydreamer and fantasy nerd like Sadira, it seemed like she had become the protagonist of her own fantasy novel. How could she not be even a little bit excited about that?
Now The journey to Camp Half-Blood was anything but peaceful. Monsters relentlessly pursued them, launching relentless attacks on the road. Sadira's heart raced as she fought for her survival alongside stepfather. Through a combination of sheer luck and Liam’s resourcefulness, they managed to fend off the monsters and continue their perilous journey.
When they finally arrived at Camp Half-Blood, with some minor injuries but nothing to worry about thanks to Liam, Sadira could finally take in the view of the place she would have to call home for a while. It was bigger and livelier than she expected, but she wasn’t really complaining. While Liam presented her to the Camp Directors, an image of what looked like sand started glowing above her head, which revealed her as a child of Morpheus, god of dreams. After that whole debacle and Liam unfortunately having to leave, Sadira was now wandering around the camp, a bag with some of her belongings on her shoulder, and absolutely clueless about where she was going. She was looking for the cabin she was going to stay in, but how was she supposed to find it if she didn’t even know where to look for it.
“This place is so much bigger from up close…”she sighed to herself “I’m starting to regret not having asked for a map or a guide…”
