I (25f) was recently at a housewarming party with 15-20 other adults. Started chatting with a guy (late-30s) for 20 min. He was fun, but I was mostly talking to him to make conversation, not flirting.
He ends asking if I want to get a coffee sometime and handing me his phone for me to give him my number. I know I should have rejected him on the spot since I'm not interested in dating him, but I didn't know what to say and didn't want to ruin the vibe so I gave him my number and said "sometime".
What's the best way to reject someone in a social setting like that with lots of friends in common around? I know I'll probably see him at other events. I've had other situations like this at social gatherings and never know how to act.
Also now he's texting me "how is your week going" etc and I don't know how to let him know I don't want to meet.

2023.03.29 20:25 optionseller Bank account closed with 40k deposit pending

It’s a new CD account and I deposited 40k. They closed the account saying the account info cannot be verified but i didn’t get any call or email asking for verification. So they just closed it without warning or explanation. There’s a “ticket” created somewhere and I cannot even view it. I can only wait for their “specialist” to contact me. They also say there’s no deposit in my CD account and if there’s any pending incoming deposit it would go back to the originating bank.
The deposit already shows “posted” on the originating bank.
I double check my deposit confirmation email, the phone number I called. They are the real ally bank, not phishing scam.
What can I do other than waiting for their “specialist” to call me back?

My son has been working at Walmart Distribution, overnight shifts, while he completes his careetech program at the local community college. He has been there a little less than a year, and has been a good man on the job, swapping shifts and training into multiple areas, popular with his bosses. A worker.
He got an opportunity to get a head start in his career field with a new job. He scheduled himself an off-day and told one of his friendly managers he might be submitting a two-week notice next day. Cheers. Congrats. We love you but you're moving on up. Right?
Wrong. While preparing to go back to work next day, he got a call from "the office" at the distribution center, who mentioned to him over the phone they'd heard he was putting in a two-week notice. They told him he could not return to work until he filled out "leave of absence" paperwork. He explained he wasn't taking a leave of absence, he just wanted to come back and work his last two weeks and planned on turning in a letter that evening. Doesn't matter - the lady gave him a number to call and told him he could not return until he'd spoken with the manager at that number.
My son spent the next three days trying to call that number. No one ever answered. No one ever called back. He never heard from any of the "friendly" managers. He called his new job and they told him to come on in Monday and let him get started two weeks early. I asked him if he were going to call any of the "friendly" managers and explain it and he said "fuck 'em."
I agree. Fuck Walmart. And fuck the notion of "doing the right thing." He was a good employee and wanted to keep the bridge unburned, but Walmart torched it on his behalf.

when i log into my chase and try to get a replacement card shipped to my address it says “For your security we can’t update your phone info right now” and to call a chase customer support number, so i called the number and put in my account information so i could talk to a support agent but it asked me for my card pin which i forgot and since i never received a card i can’t reset it. Is there any way i can get past this?

Help! I finally got a job! It’s the one I interviewed for and asked about here a month ago and you all provided excellent feedback. Now I need to negotiate.
The benefits are great, but the pay is about 6-8k less than what I’d be happy with.
  1. How much should I counter-offer? It’s at a nonprofit so keep that in mind (I know it shouldn’t make too much of a difference when negotiating, but I can’t go crazy with the number.)
  2. Should I do it over the phone or email? I also emailed my interviewer asking to schedule a call to discuss some questions. I want to know if a hybrid schedule is possible at all. I also have not been given a start date.

I've worked Auto Parts sales for nearly 25 years and I've got some great stories to tell about it. I'll keep this first post brief and check back in often with more.
This first story doesn't directly involve me but I witnessed it first hand. I've been at this company over 20 years and without question our most miserable dickhead customer is Barry (B). Not his real name, but close enough. This exchange happened with my co-worker (CW) who takes no BS, much like me. For reference, many people get so hung up on the price of stuff, they will literally spend 20 minutes calling 8 parts stores trying to save $1.50. So Dumb.
CW: Answers phone
B: "I need my price on xxxx"
CW: "$31.59"
B: "Thats my price?"
CW: "Let me look here, yup, your account number, yes that's your price B."
B: "You're SURE that's my price?"
CW: "I guess that's not your price." and hangs up on him.

Good Afternoon ,
I hired a freelancer on freelancer.com who is a CPA to review my year end (catch any mistakes), the curious thing is he made very silly mistakes himself, and when I called him out on it, he ghosted me!
Now I have to review my own work, as all the other freelancers aren't available!
Therefore, I am requesting if you could give me some advice on how to verify the accuracy of the following procedures:
  1. REmoving the personal portion of expenses on quickbooks
I made a journal entry to remove the personal portion of expenses, for the existing transactions relating to 'split' usage (vehicle - leased by the shareholder, Home Office, telephone etc) that I classified when doing the bank feeds on QB.
Subledgers for Vehicle Expenses: Leasing, Fuel, Insurance, Repairs
• She has a home office and instead of renting it from the corporation she books a portion of the related mortgage, hydro, home repairs etc to the 'Home Office Expenses' account for business percentage ( 8hours/#hours a day) x % of space the office takes in the home.
Telephone: The phone bill is split into three phone numbers, with business usage at 60%: so -
calculation: /3 x 60% = X - hst = amount that should be debited to due to shareholder ?
  1. Amounts on the Personal bank statements for business transactions
I reviewed her personal bank statements and found more 'split' usage (vehicle - leased by the shareholder, Home Office, telephone etc) transactions.
Certas Combined Vehicle & Home Insurance
Business incorporated on September 15th, so:
$500 / 2 (to back out the portion for the month the business wasnt incorporated),
So 250 + 1500 (Oct to Dec -) = 1750 x 60% ( Portion of Insurance Amount that is related to Auto (300/$500) = 1050
Home Office
Total Home Expenses = $7000 x < % space office takes in home> x < (8*7)/168 hours> = 920.
920/ 1.13 ( to remove the hst ) = 814
ii) Add up all the REnt, Home Office, Vehicle Expenses, Telephone = 4700 = total net of hst = credit d/shareholder = 4700
iii) Get the HST amount that should be an ITC = 4700 - insurance amounts - = 4300 x 13% = 559
a) Are my calculations correct?
b) What procedures should I conduct to ensure that these are accurate?
The bank rec is good.

2023.03.29 20:17 Crypto_Steve Are my expectations too high? Or was it a major customer service fail?

I am traveling today for work, and I booked a first class United flight that connects through ORD to SFO. Though the first leg of the flight is serviced by a United Express carrier on a CRJ200, so technically it is considered a mixed cabin ticket.
After boarding the first leg, we were informed of a minor mechanical issue (radio not working) that they were going to try to work through with the maintenance crew. Long story short, after a few attempts by the flight crew to resolve the issue, the likelihood of a timely resolution was looking bleak. It sounded like they had run out of options with the resources they had on hand, and the crew was about to time out.
It was time to look for other options to get to SFO today. I spoke with the gate agent about my options, and there were basically none departing from the airport I was at. So we started looking at options at the closest major airport (more than 150 mile drive). We identified an acceptable option, but then the agent informed me that he would have to call the booking center to get approval since I would be starting from a different airport.
After some time waiting for the booking center to look into the option, I was informed that they were only able to book me at economy class, despite the fact that there were first class seats still available. When I asked why, I was told it was because I was on a mixed cabin ticket. I insisted that it didn't make any sense considering they don’t even offer a first class cabin on the first leg of my original itinerary. Had that been an option, I would have booked it that way. Again a long hold while the booking agent looked into the situation. Only to be told that was the policy, and nothing could be done about it. At that point I requested to speak directly with the booking agent on the phone (and the gate agent was more than happy to let me so we could move on to other customers). I asked about compensation for the change in fare class as well as the inconvenience of the multi-hour drive that I was going to undertake as a result of their mechanical issue. I was offered a very specific amount of approximately $120 for this. I’m am not sure where this number came from, I interpret it as most likely the fare difference between what I originally paid, and the current retail price of the last minute ticket they rebooked for me. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor then told me they were simply following the terms and conditions of the ticket and there was nothing that could be done since I am “requesting” this change. Also I was told I should speak to the gate agent as they have more flexibility. SMDH!
At this point I gave up and started the long drive to enjoy my 4+ hour flight in the middle seat of basic economy.
Am I being unreasonable? This seems like a major disincentive to book “first class” fares from small regional airports. I’m sure, had I originally booked the first class flight from the nearest major airport, not only would it have been less expensive, but in the event of a mechanical issue I probably could have been rebooked at the same class of service. So much for the convenience of flying from the local airport!
From my perspective this seems like a major failure of customer service on the United end. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
TLDR: Flight had a major delay due to mechanical issues. When rebooking, United was unwilling to rebook at the first class I originally booked, because of the first leg on a CRJ200 without a first class cabin. Then offered minimal compensation for the major inconvenience and change in fare class.

"So what did you say?" the police officer asked. I sighed.
"I said my friend, not my girlfriend, is a Proto-Indo-European goddess of knowledge and learning. And books. She likes books."
"Uh huh," he said, writing something in his notebook. I sighed. This was not going well. I was standing in my parents' living room, amidst the overturned furniture and strewn about decorations among which I'd grown up. They were out of town again, a common occurrence since I graduated high school. I think it was Bermuda, this time. Or was it Bimini?
In any case, our home had been burglarized. So I called the police. I guess they suspected me of being involved somehow, because their questions had turned from 'when did you get home?' and 'did you notice anything outside?' and 'did anyone know you'd be out for the evening?' to asking me who I'd been out with and why and what we'd been doing.
Look, it wasn't a date, alright? Sarisa is not like that. I mean, she's not even anatomically correct. But she likes me, because I'm her only worshiper. She likes to spoil me, and because she's a goddess, she can do things like make money appear out of thin air and cause people to not seem to notice that she's always butt-naked. I mean, the anatomical incorrectness might have something to do with that, but honestly I'd stare even harder if I saw a naked, beautiful woman with jet black eyes and no nipples or... You know. Downstairs.
"And you two were having dinner at Le Chef Bizarre."
"Yes," I said.
"And it wasn't a date."
"No, just dinner."
"And she's not here because..."
I facepalmed. "Listen, I'll summon her, and you can speak to her yourself."
"Summon?"
"Yeah, like a demon? Only, you know... Not. Because she's a goddess... She doesn't have to come, but she always does because I'm her only worshiper."
"Her worshiper, huh? So is this like some kinky dominatrix thing?"
I facepalmed again, and grabbed one of those little pocket bibles. Don't start with me. They're cheap, they're barely bigger than a matchbook, they burn easily, and, I mean, I'm summoning a Proto-Indo-European goddess of book learning. Yahweh may be out there, but he's not my only option, you know?
I lit it on fire and dropped it on the tile floor. It blackened the wax, but I could easily fix that. As it burned, I said, "Sarisa, I need you to speak with the police, please."
It only took a few seconds for the door to burst open. Sarisa liked to make a dramatic entrance. She bounced up and planted a kiss on my cheek. This wasn't helping me sell the whole 'not my girlfriend' thing.
"Sarisa, can you explain to the detective here what you are?"
"Sure," she said brightly, and then all hell broke loose. The room was full with a light that was somehow black, while beams of bright white shone from Sarisa's eyes. She held out her arms as she levitated off the floor, and when she spoke, her voice was vast, ancient and terrible.
"I am Sarisa, lord of learning and keeper of all knowledge. I know all that is known by man, and it is through my power that mankind has raised itself from the dirt to ascendancy over this world. All will tremble before me, lest I take back what I have so freely given."
And then it was over. No more Galadriel from The Lord of The Rings, just Sarisa, me and the cop. The light was gone, and Sarisa was just a semi-normal naked woman with a weird accent, solid-black eyes and no nipples. She giggled. "Does that answer your question, detective?"
The policeman stood there, mouth agape, stunned.
"John LaPlante," she said.
"Wh-what?" he stammered back.
"You were wondering earlier today who actually killed Jimmy Hoffa. It was John LePlante, a nobody, really. He was a Teamster who was upset about union dues. He lost his temper one day, and came for Jimmy. Shot him and dumped his body offshore, tied to an anchor."
"What?" the cop asked.
"Okay fine, how about some knowledge a little closer to home. You know that cold case file you keep in your desk drawer? The bottom one, on the right. Well, if you run right up the road here, and dig in the trash set out in front of number seventy five eighty three, you'll find a plastic cup with some fingerprints on it that will match the ones you pulled off the murder weapon."
"What? How did you... What?" The cop was completely bamboozled. I knew the feeling, Sarisa had that affect.
It only took a few more minutes to get him out the door and off to solve my case. I bet he'll go check out the trash at 7583 first. At least I hope he will, it freaks me out that a murderer might live just a couple houses down from me. I turned to Sarisa.
"So you know who did this, right?"
She nodded, a reproachful look in her eye. I wondered what I'd done. Before I could ask, she asked me a question. "Jerry, is anything actually missing?"
"Uh, no... Now that you mention it, I think everything's still here, just wrecked..."
"Right. And do you know who might have had a reason to come here, frantically searching for something... Or someone?"
"Uh..." I thought about it, "No."
"Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out," she said as her figure started to fade.
"Wait!" I called, "Aren't you going to tell me?"
Her voice had a hollow echo to it. "No, but I'll tell you this. She's still here..."
With that, she faded away. I swallowed, looking around. Those last words were ominous. I thought about what they might mean, and then it struck me. Oh no...
I carefully crept down the hall and pried open my bedroom door. There she was. Dark haired and tanned with solid black eyes like Sarisa. But that's where the similarities ended. Where Sarisa was willowy, she was buxom and curvaceous. Where Sarisa was anatomically incorrect, this woman was... Well, very clearly not.
She looked at me through wavy locks of black hair, a predatory smile on her face. "Hello, Jerry. I haven't had a worshiper in a long time, and I've been very... Very lonely."
"Uh... Inanna?" I asked tentatively. She nodded. And then she leaped.

A week ago Sunday I had the final straw with mum, after her making snide remarks Infront of my family, and then trying to flip the issue on me the following day I’ve been toying with the idea of no contact.
To give context I’ve been thinking about this for a long time now, and have been quite lo contact for a number of months now.
Today I came home from work and found a “bloom and wild” flowers in the post parcel. It can’t with a card which read “I’m sorry for everything. All my love always. Mum xxx” and I can’t get it out of my head. But instead of Awh, she’s reached out, I’m thinking “I literally said to her during our final conversation that I hate the way she tried to over compensate by buying things”. Also thinking, if she really wanted to attempt to fix this, surely a phone call or a text saying I’m really sorry, can we talk to try and work through this would be much more suitable to the situation?
Anyway, I don’t really know what I want by this post. It’s upset me, angered me, and made me really anxious. I have my second therapy session Friday following what happened so will talk it through then.

My DME company has been no help!
Quick run down, I was called to come to the DME supplier and pick up my new equipment and begin therapy in October 2022. I had and still have no idea what I am expected to do . The first screenshot is what I received in email after attempting to get a new filter after 3 months. I was sent everything except what I needed. I returned what was sent and received one filter and a new water chamber.
I am asthmatic and believe that I am supposed to receive 2 filters per month. The second email is what I received after trying to figure this out on my own again, trying to get a new filter, and I am still using the same headgear, and under the nose Dreamwear mask.
I called the compliance phone number they asked me to and this compliance support rep told me there's nothing they can do. I am on Texas Medicaid with Superior Health Care. Can I purchase a filter at least from Walmart for the ResMed AirSense 11 machine?

The gist of it is that I work in a system where there are duplicate IDs for some people. Here you can see that the same person (top 2 rows) has the ID 247647756 and 245930318. Then on the next line, you can see the join was picked up on the same duplication, but it switches them to put one in CLIENT MASTER 1 and the other in CLIENT MASTER 2.
My goal is to be able to aggregate the duplicates without having, well, duplicates of their duplicates. For example, right now the CLIENT_NUM column has 1 for row 1 and 2 for row 2. I'd like to just have "1" and then "2" starting on row 3 when it switches to a different person. I recall doing a partition that achieved something similar in the past and I've forgotten exactly what I did. There may be a better way to do this too - so open to ideas. Thanks!
