I was reading the TV Tropes page for Dark Sun and ran into an oddly familiar name. Even more interestingly, plants on Athas can be mobile and some life forms have developed an insect-like carapace. Several of the major sapient species are insect people, meaning they have carapace as well.
But it gets even more interesting when you consider that Athas is a world destroyed by irresponsible use of magic - something oddly reminiscent of Ashyn. And while that wouldn’t be surprising on its own, it’s noteworthy when added to the others.
All of which makes me wonder if, back when Brandon played D&D, he played in the Dark Sun setting and, if so, it had any -likely unconscious- influence on the creation of the Stormlight Archive. Does anyone know if he did? Either way, it’s a pretty interesting coincidence!

It is USA made by an up and coming knife maker Brandon park, he's very talented and has great designs. This knife even without scales just melts in your hand, it is set up for pocket carry with the leather sheath but an ulticlip could be added without too much trouble if that's your preference. CPM-154 steel @61 HRC, cryo cycled with liquid nitrogen during heat treating, comes with two leather sheaths, The one that fits perfectly that is on it currently and another one that's a bit too small but can be reworked to fit, that one is a bit slimmer. I am the first owner and it has never been sharpened.COA included.

The Black Prism (Lightbringer, #1) by Brent Weeks (I used to love Night Angel as well, but I re-read this with my sweetheart, and god it's sexist and super SA for shock factor heavy!)
Tress of the Emerald Sea by Sanderson, Brandon * (again, remember, I need to read something from an author that I haven't read in a while. Read this with my sweetheart as well, it's now her favorite book!)
Nine Princes in Amber (The Chronicles of Amber #1) by Zelazny, Roger (I don't usually dig fantasy pre-90's, but this did a phenomenal job at keeping things moving, and focusing on the characters instead of the lore!)
City of Nightmares (City of Nightmares, #1) by Rebecca Schaeffer (Usually not into YA, but dear god was this awesome!)
Destiny (Rogue Angel, #1) Rogue Angel Book 1 and 2 by Archer, Alex (God these were fun! They were like Buffy the Vampire Slayer!)

I am not impressed with Brandon but being that Michael is a super strict fundie following woman she is probably ok with him.
I can't figure out John - seems uninterested in raising kids/wants them in bed when he gets home, doesn't seem to be the type to help around the house, etc.
I don't know anything about Bobby.
Kelton might be one of the best - he cooks, has a real skill to earn money to support his family, has his flaws too though.

I've recently tried Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb and started the sequel, and I've found that I love Hobb's storytelling and how she flips over conventional fantasy tropes and how her stories unravel without holding your hand to tell you exactly what's happening.
What are some authors/novels that have this "unwinding" effect, like I can step into the story and figure things out naturally through intuition and paying attention rather than through exposition dumps
