2023.06.07 17:56 travelfilm Chapter 1: The Scent of Time - Would you be interested in more chapters?
I've been working with ChatGPT and other AI platforms to help run my small fragrance business. I've used it for just about everything you could think of, but I wanted to take a break from the everyday tasks and write the beginning of a book that I've been thinking about for close to ten years. I'm a huge fan of using fragrances on a daily basis and I'm also obsessed with the idea of parallel universes. So, I asked ChatGPT to help.
Chapter 1: The Scent of Time
Theo had always known that there was something magical about fragrances. As a master perfumist, he’d journeyed across continents, from the lavender fields of Provence to the spice markets of Marrakech, seeking out the most exotic scents to blend in his concoctions. But it wasn’t just about creating beautiful fragrances. For Theo, each scent was a gateway to a memory, a pathway to a moment in time that was otherwise gone.
Every morning, his routine began with choosing a fragrance. A spritz of citrusy bergamot, and he was transported back to his childhood summers spent at his grandmother's home in Italy, where the fruit's fresh scent wafted through open windows. A whiff of sandalwood, and he was back in India, marveling at the majestic temples embedded with the essence of the earthy wood.
One day, as he was experimenting with a rare blend of herbs he’d sourced from an obscure forest in Japan, something extraordinary happened. As he gingerly spritzed the new concoction onto his wrist and inhaled, he felt a strange sensation. A dizzying whirl of colors swam before his eyes, and when he opened them, he found himself standing in a different place, a place he recognized but hadn’t been to in years.
Confused, he looked around. He was in his childhood home, the one he hadn’t seen since his parents sold it over a decade ago. He could see his mother in the kitchen, a younger version of her, humming as she cooked. And there he was, a younger Theo, playing with his toy cars on the living room carpet. He was in the past.
As he traveled more with his fragrance, he realized it was not confined to his own timeline. The dimensions of time seemed to bend and flex around him, transporting him to periods and places he had never been. He saw grand royal courts and rustic villages, futuristic cities and untouched wildernesses. But one thing remained constant: a mysterious woman who appeared in every dimension he visited. Her eyes always met his, a knowing smile playing on her lips before she disappeared into the crowd.
Over time, Theo grew accustomed to his time-traveling abilities. He traveled through time as casually as one might flip through pages of a book. But the mysterious woman remained a puzzle. He saw her in a Victorian-era London market, in a bustling 22nd-century metropolis, and even in an ancient Greek amphitheater. Each time, her eyes would meet his, and she would vanish before he could reach her.
The day came when he traveled to a serene Japanese garden, the scent of cherry blossoms heavy in the air. As he watched the petals fall, he saw her again. This time, she was closer than ever, her eyes full of recognition. As he moved towards her, his heart pounding, the world around him began to blur, and he found himself being pulled back to his own time.
He woke up in his workshop, the experimental fragrance still lingering in the air. Who was she? Did she know his secret? The questions buzzed in his head, and he knew he wouldn't rest until he found the answers. His journey was just beginning. The world of scents held more secrets than he had ever imagined, and he was ready to uncover them all.

2023.06.07 17:38 suiciderap International calling
I’m hoping someone can help clear my easilly confused mind. I’m on a Boost Mobile family plan. Two family members are traveling to Italy later this summer. I see that Boost has an option for international calling for an additional 10 dollars a month to several countries, Italy included. But doesn’t that just mean that you can call TO another country? Like, if you’re in the US and you want to call someone who lives in Europe, it will work fine. But it doesn’t mean your American phone will work if YOU go to Europe and want data and cell service. For that, I assume you need something like Airalo or Orange Travel. Am I right?

2023.06.07 17:21 oddotter14 Recs for the rest of our trip?
Hi all! Staying in Midtown but have done some exploring so far! Day #3 out of 7 today and looking for some recs :) - lighter breakfast options - lunch places - little Italy and chinatown (either lunch or dinner) - food carts, which one to go to?
We've been to Joe's pizza, prince Street pizza, katz's, Los tacos no. 1 and double chicken please. We have an unlimited subway pass so we are willing to travel! Looking to spend under $100 for 2 people, but I'm willing to budge a little for a good place 😊 Thanks!

2023.06.07 17:21 AITA-peaspicking I went to visit my mum’s family.
Hello. I went to visit my mum’s family in the Netherlands for 3 weeks. That is a long time. We went there by boat. Or at least we went to Holland by boat. And then we took the car to her cousin’s house where we were staying. It was fun. I will tell you about it:
My mum is actually Dutch but she has lived in the UK since she was 18. She just sounds British now. But she’s not. She’s Dutch. Like I said already. Her family still lives in the Netherlands. And my grandparents live there now as well. They used to only live there in the summer. The other time they would live in the UK just like us. But now they are in NL again and they like it. Obviously. Otherwise they wouldn’t move back there. My mum does not have any siblings. But she does have cousins who are kids of her parents’ siblings. So when we visit there we go see them.
One of them lives in a big house with many rooms. And a big garden. And also 4 bathrooms which is arguably too many. He lives in The Hague. Kind of in Scheveningen actually. We have visited him a lot in the past. But then Covid happened and we did not go to Holland because we did not want to travel unnecessarily. But we planned this trip for a while and made it 3 weeks which is 21 days instead of the usual 10 days. And we went there by boat. We took the ferry.
We took the night boat from Harwich in the UK to Hook of Holland in NL. That is a tiny town but it’s cute. It has changed a lot in recent years tho. I did not recognise everything even tho I have come there very often in the past. Then we always get picked up by mum’s cousin who I will call Dick. Not because he is a dick. But because his second name is Richard. And people somehow make Dick from that. So I will call him Dick here. I try not to use real names because of privacy reasons. I’m sure you’ll understand. And if not then that’s a you problem.
But anyways first we had to go on the boat. It is a big boat. It’s called the Stena Line. We take the night boat which means it’s night when you travel. We sleep in a cabin. It has bunk beds. I am quite used to being on the boat because I’ve been doing it all my life. So I don’t mind it. It’s only a little bit scary when there is a lot of wind or something. Because then the sea is very wild and the boat moves a lot. But now it went smoothly. I slept well and when I woke up we were almost at our destination. And then Dick picked us up. He has a big car which is a Toyota. My step-dad also has a Toyota. James has a Renault. I don’t have a car because I can’t drive. So then I don’t need a car obviously.
We stayed with Dick for 3 weeks because he lets us stay for free. I don’t always like him because he drinks a lot. And then he gets loud. But he is very respectful of my wishes and routines. So I appreciate that. His house is very big like I said. It’s an old house. It was his wife’s inheritance. She used to have a lot of money because her family was rich. But now she’s dead. So now it’s Dick’s house. He also has 2 dogs which are very big. They are called dobermanns. They are very well-behaved and they like to lick people. I do not like that so I asked them to refrain from doing so. They listened or at least they didn’t do it as often because Dick told them off.
We did a lot of things in the 3 weeks we were there. At first we just adjusted a little bit. I felt a little bit bad because I missed my own bed and my own room and my cats and my home. I was annoyed because I actually kind of wanted to go home again. But then after 3 days I felt much better. I enjoyed walking to the beach and playing outside with Dick. He is very funny. We played tag together and also with my step-dad. And we made a very big puzzle of Disneyland. I enjoyed that a lot. I played fetch with the dogs a lot. That was fun even tho my arm got tired of throwing the sticks.
It’s a little bit weird to talk Dutch all the time. I’m not used to that because at home we speak English usually. But after a week I was more used to it. My step-dad is not Dutch but he speaks it well. Because his ex-wife who is Percy’s mum is also Dutch. By the way Percy also came to stay with us for 5 days. But that comes later in the post. So we must be patient. First we did a lot of things together with the 3 of us. Which is my step-dad and my mum and me. And sometimes 4 if Dick would join.
We went to Madurodam which is a place where they built a miniature world of places in The Netherlands. It’s really cool. There are many tiny details and tiny figurines. I enjoyed it very much to look at it. It was a little bit busy but I was wearing my headphones. My mum has been there a lot and she could point out many fun details. It was a great way to spend my afternoon. I took pictures with a disposable camera that Dick got for me.
That was very nice by the way. Dick bought several disposable cameras for me and my mum to use. Then you take a picture and you get it developed later so you can’t immediately see the picture. I took a lot of pictures. My mum is very good at making pictures. I look forward to seeing what the pictures are like when they’re developed. We took them home with us and they are now at the photo store. So we will get them next week probably.
Anyways we did many more things but then this post would get very long if I said all of them. So I will keep it short. We went to many beaches. We went to several towns and museums. I went to the zoo because Dick got free tickets but I do not really like zoos. Because I feels sorry for the animals. But I did not want to be impolite because it was a gift from Dick. He also came with us and he knew many animal facts. I respect that. That is important knowledge to have. I waved at a polar bear. He did not wave back. I was only a little bit disappointed but I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t want to wave either if I was in a zoo as a polar bear.
Halfway through the 2nd week Percy also came. He took the train. That takes around 4 hours from London to Rotterdam. James did not come with him because he had to work. Unfortunately. By the way Percy was living in our home so that Mike and Tom and Tea would not get lonely. I’m thankful for that because I was very worried about that. But they were fine. And then Percy came to stay with us and it was a lot of fun. We also found a puppy on the side of the road and that was a whole adventure. I will tell that in a separate post though. Because this is already a long post. But rest assured the puppy is doing very well. Dick adopted her so now he has 3 dogs.
I did a lot of walking through towns and such. My mum really enjoyed being back. She said she loves it there but she would not move back there any time soon. Maybe one day when she’s retired. I would be so sad if she would go there. But maybe I could go with her. I prefer to stay in the UK because that is where I was born and raised. However I would like to visit The Netherlands again more often. I am interested in taking the train sometime. Percy says we can do it for my birthday in August. I said we will burn that bridge when we get to it. I would prefer not to think about making another trip for the rest of the year.
We also visited my grandparents of course. It was very nice visiting them. They said they missed me but that’s a little bit silly because we had seen each other quite recently before this. But I still appreciate the sentiment. We had a BBQ with them. I don’t like the smell of fire or a BBQ but I did enjoy it eventually. The food was nice. My mum’s cousins were there and their kids. I did not care for them but I answered questions if they asked them to me. My mum got a little bit drunk and that was very funny. Because she usually never does that. Her face gets really red and she laughs a lot. And then I also laugh. Because it makes me laugh when my mum is laughing. Because it’s nice to laugh together. I did not drink personally. Because it’s bad for my teeth. Obviously.
I played Nintendo games on the Nintendo Switch with my mum’s cousins kids. They are all older than me. Some of them have kids of their own. They asked if I wanted to hold one of the babies and I said absolutely not thank you. They thought that was funny but I wasn’t joking. I was very serious. We played Super Mario Party and I enjoyed that. I also laughed very hard. My mum’s cousins kids were willing to play by my rules. I appreciated that. I could also choose first which character I wanted to play as. I played Yoshi. I didn’t win the game but that’s OK. I won the second round.
I also found ducks. Many of them. I fed the ducks at the pond near Dick’s house every 3 days or so. They were quite nice. At least they did not injure or attack me. So I count that as a win. I was not comfortable enough to let them eat out of my hand. But eventually they did recognise me I think. I told Dick that he should now commit to feeding the ducks half-frozen peas at least 1-2 times a week. He said he’d try. He better. I think he will because the dogs like to walk in that park. And now he has a new puppy he might walk there even more. I will send him reminders per email every week or so. Just in case.
Now I’ve been home for a little while already. I am just doing my things. As one does. I am tired tho. I also hurt my arm a little bit. It’s my left arm which I broke in December last year. My mum says it’s because I used my arm a lot. I have to build up muscles again in that arm because I didn’t move it as much for several months. That makes sense. It doesn’t hurt that bad but it’s a little bit uncomfortable. I am going swimming 2 times in a week now to exercise. Once with my mum and once with my step-dad. It’s very nice. And wet. Obviously.
I will write about the puppy that Percy and I found on the side of the road in the Netherlands in another post. I think you will enjoy reading about that. It’s a nice story. At least I think it is. If you don’t then you can decide that yourself. I’m not the post liking police. I’m not police at all. I’m just Alexander. Anyways I will tell you about the puppy in the next post. But I said that already several times of course.
Thank you for reading. Your friend, Alexander.

2023.06.07 17:05 s1lkdashokka Lisbon Airport will NOT handcheck your film.. UNLESS:
As alot of you are aware, more and more airports around the world are beginning to not accept film handchecks anymore + with new CT scanners that destroy film in one scan this is pretty scary.
I had this experience a month ago when transiting through Lisbon airport on my trip to Madeira where i was denied a handcheck.
After a while of pleading they stood their ground and said it was not simply not possible UNLESS you are authorised. however by then they were quite exhausted by me and didnt provide any information.
So sadly, the film was xray’d.. (thankfully not ct scanners)
Afterwards with some quick googling i found contacts for the respective airports and sent emails asking for an authorisation. Within a day i recieved a response and they forwarded me the correct person to contact and i was able to get a guaranteed hand-check authorisation on my flight back signed by the aviation security office.
BAM! Passed through, got a handcheck & no questions asked.
Moral of the story - when travelling research your airports!! See what their rules are and find emails to contact regarding an authorisation. I know its annoying but if it helps guarantee that your film isnt xray’d then thats a win!
Hope someone has found this helpful, best of luck for your trips <3
Pro tip: if you are worried about xrays on the trip home its also worth getting all your film developed overseas and bring the developed negatives back with you - then you will not need not to worry about xrays

2023.06.07 16:50 IXPlayer9 [M4A] Partner Search - Original Stories and Fandoms Welcome!
Hello! I’m IX, 24M. I’ve been roleplaying for about 13 years now, moving around from online forums to apps like Geek King, Roleplaying Amino, and Wattpad. I’ve been a game master for D&D, Pathfinder, and Emberwind for about 8 years, often preferring homebrew campaigns over premade modules (especially when it comes to D&D 5e).
I tend to lean towards whatever my partner prefers. That’s just how I do things. I try not to limit my partner too much in that regard. I consider myself a very flexible writer. I’m able to write sprawling paragraphs of detail and dialogue, bouncing off my partner with whatever they give me. I can also stick to the important details within a paragraph or two. I am also capable of writing in first or third person.
While I am capable of writing for multiple characters, I’m not a fan of doubling. Once I have my character, I like to stick to them. With that in mind, when it comes to fandom roleplays, I prefer my main character be an OC. I don’t mind playing canon characters when fleshing out the world, nor do I mind if you main character is a canon or OC character.
I do have a few things I’d like to cover before I get into the rest:
-I am 24, and I do not feel comfortable roleplaying with anyone under 18. I do not strictly steer towards adult content, but I just don’t feel comfortable chatting and roleplaying with a minor. -As I said above, I do not have a preference for response length -I do not have a preference for whether we use first or third person -I can use Discord or Reddit, just let me know what you prefer -I’ve been ghosted many times before. Please just let me know you aren’t enjoying yourself anymore/something came up and will affect your ability to roleplay -I don’t need constant updates on what you’re doing if you can’t respond, nor do I need apologies. I appreciate it, but I understand real life comes first -I just ask you respect my time as well. I tend to respond as frequently as I can, but those times are random to the point even I don’t know when they’ll come.
Now, I have a TON of different fandoms I enjoy roleplaying in and roleplay ideas for many of them, as well as premade roleplays. I’m also more than happy to hear any ideas you may have, or to craft one together!
I’ll include the list of fandoms first, then I’ll have the titles of my roleplays + a brief synopsis of each. They won’t be in any particular order, just as they come to me. I will star the ones I'm more interested in
•Fandoms:
-Destiny*
-Percy Jackson and the Olympians*
-DC (can be combined with Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse, etc) -Props if you’re interested in doing something in the Dark Knights of Steel Elseworld
-Yugioh
-Star Wars (Old Republic or Clone Wars era preferred)
-Dark Souls

-One Punch Man
-Mob Psycho 100
-My Hero Academia (preferably more towards the MHA: Vigilantes side of things)
-Rise of the Shield Hero
-And many, many more. If you aren’t sure, just ask
As for the roleplay ideas:
-The Alchemist and Their Apprentice: An alchemist believes they have lost both their touch and the respect of their apprentice, and thus they set out on an adventure to gather the ingredients they need to brew the ultimate elixir.
-Light Up the Night Cracks open up all over the world. Each leads deep into the earth, straight to the layer of dragons. These dragons have been trapped, and cannot leave without forming a contract with a Rider. These dragons are granted both human and weapon forms, while the Riders are granted attributes to match their dragon’s. Many people are affected by their dragons in negative ways, many seeking to absorb the power of others and use them to take over the world.
-The Shopkeeper’s Secret In a sleepy, little town, once home to the largest depot of adventurers traveling into the dungeon below the town. After a slew of deaths upon delving into the lower, unexplored sections, the entire dungeon was deemed unsafe and closed off. The town suffered for it, and became nothing more than a faded blip on the map. But recently, a certain shop has started bursting with life. People and adventurers from all over begin to travel to the town, breathing life into it. Upon following the young owner, grandson of the town’s previous mayor, to see how to procures his wares, it is found he is delving back into the very dungeon which had kept the town alive for years, and selling the items he pulls from it.
-We Planned To Adventure Together: Best friends separated before they could fulfill their dreams. One character’s family came into wealth on their farm and thus had the time and funds to train and thus became an adventurer of great renown. The other, forced to stay on their family’s farm, though eventually runs away to become an adventurer on their own. After years apart, the two finally reunite.
-Hold Me Closer, Necromancer Necromancers are often seen as evil, depraved, and absent of any love of life. Few necromancers would argue this. However, after an apprentice of one breaks free from the bonds of his master and is thrown into a world which hates him, he seeks to prove everyone wrong. Especially as his own master seeks to rise great heroes of old from the grave to rule over the earth.
-Heroes of Legend Grand earth deities begin to stir. Entities which had been sealed away eons ago. Upon their stirring, the souls of their hero were said to reincarnate into the present day, imbuing the chosen with their divine ability. However, when only two are reincarnated and brought together, things look far more bleak than they could have ever imagined.
I have more as well, please ask if interested! DM or Chat works, and we can move elsewhere if you’d prefer!

2023.06.07 16:48 IXPlayer9 [M4A] Partner Search - Original Stories and Fandoms Welcome!
-Yugioh
-Spider-Man
-Star Wars (Old Republic or Clone Wars era preferred)
-Dark Souls
-Dead Space
-Megaman
-Shovel Knight
-BioShock
-Slay the Spire
-No More Heroes
-Devil May Cry
-Cyberpunk 2077 (game and Edgerunners)
-Gurren Lagann
-Blood Blockade Battlefront*
-Megalobox
-Gimgar: A World of Fantasy and Ash
-Heroes of Legend Grand earth deities begin to stir. Entities which had been sealed away eons ago. Upon their stirring, the souls of their hero were said to reincarnate into the present day, imbuing the chosen with their divine ability. 2023.06.07 16:47 Feisty-Mongoose-5146 How to deal with a lifetime of memories of being hated and judged?
As many here know, the adhd journey when you have an adult diagnosis can be a long hard one for many of us.
I got diagnosed at age 28, went deep in the rabbit hole including books, this sub-Reddit, Instagram videos etc. I learnt a lot from this deep dive that is helping me begin to try to manage my life, work and relationships better than i ever have been able to all my life. Medication, structure and mindfulness is also helping me quite a bit .
However, i spiraled into a very hellish depression for the past year and a half (triggered by a round the world backpacking trip after I quit my last job) that I’m still struggling to get out of. For the last year and a half, I’ve been plagued with extreme rumination over the failures of the past and a realization that has destroyed my self-concept. I’d always seen myself as a very interesting, fun, charismatic, exciting adventurous person, despite always struggling at school, in group settings, with bullying and rejection from parents and peers. While all this was happening, I still thought of myself as a normal person and didn’t think too much of it all.
However, all the unstructured time I had while traveling caused my mind to get stuck in the past, constantly replaying the humiliations of the past, my fuck ups, mishaps, the anger and ridicule I’ve always had from family and “friends”, the bullying and irrational hatred that I have constantly inspired in others that makes them ok to talk and treat me with extreme contempt.
All of a sudden, instead of the fun adventurous exciting autodidact I saw myself as, i now see myself as someone who has been hated murderously by everyone including my own mother. It sounds stupid but something I’ve noticed is how many people from past jobs and schools have unfollowed me on Instagram. For me I thought life had just separated us as it does when you leave school or jobs, but now i realize and I’m looking back and i just realize many of these people hated me and found me weird, annoying, or just plain morally defective.
This is causing a lot of sadness and shame just because it’s the case from all my life, with different people who have never met each other, including my own mother who abused me and treated me with insane levels of contempt and hatred including physical and emotional abuse and ridicule. I feel shame because I have many cringe memories that caused that reaction from people. But also feel sad because deep down I still think I’m a nice person who just wanted to have fun and enjoy life and pursue joy in whatever way that my brain felt it. Yet the bullies and haters agreed I was bad and deserved bad treatment. I’m still not able to reconcile this no matter how hard I try. Am I an objectively worse person than the people who bullied and hated me? In my vivid imagination, I’ve been constantly imagining them getting together in a giant conference to talk about how much I suck.
I understand now about adhd and why what I see as a fun loving , dynamic person comes across as too out there, too different, “stupid”, weak, weird, ridiculous and all the other things I’ve been called but the level of anger that it inspires in others even strangers on the street is not something I’ve been able to wrap my head around. Even now at my new job, I’ve notice the same old pattern, people sensing something about me and the way I think and act is different - and I can sense the haters seizing on that and beginning to make their digs and laugh, bond over scapegoating me , and the nicer ones giving me weird looks.
TLDR: how do I get over this trrrible past, how can I wrap my head around how other people see and treat me and have done in the past and lead a moderately ok life? I don’t know how long I can do this.

2023.06.07 16:45 commentator7806 First Time in Italy- Itinerary Advice
Hi all, I’m planning on traveling to Italy in October and could use some advice on our itinerary. I’m a pretty fast paced traveler and like to fit in as much as possible when I’ll be in a country since I don’t know if/when I’ll be able to come back, but also don’t like to be so jam packed with things that I can’t take time to enjoy. I’ll also be traveling with my parents who are in their 60s (pretty active 60s tho) and don’t want to tire them out too much. Itinerary so far is below, but I would really love to visit Lake Como- don’t know if anyone has advice about whether this would be feasible/how I could move things around to make that happen! We are planning on using trains (high speed when available) and busses to travel between locations.
Day 1: arrive in Venice ~4pm Day 2-3: Venice Day 4-6: Florence Day 7-8: Day trips from Florence (thinking Siena, wine tour) Day 9-10: Cinque Terre Day 11-14: Rome Day 15: Pompeii day trip Day 16: depart Rome
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Hi! I haven’t been on an RC cruise in years, but am planning one soon with my family. Kids will be 2-6 years old, all travel well and are adventurous. Dates are flexible, so we have some choices in ships. What has been your favorite for those ages?

2023.06.07 16:10 ThatGuyFromTheM0vie I was already worried about the end of the original saga’s story going into The Final Shape…but man…The Witness is a Rick and Morty Character.
This post contains spoilers for:
The leaked Witness cutscene you might have heard rumblings about.
The Final Shape teaser trailer that was dropped a week or so ago.
Also edit: I put “Rick and Morty character” in the title for semi clickbait but also because I didn’t want to say Meeseeks in the title, since imho that would give more information about The Witness than I deemed “not a spoiler” in the title. Maybe I could have, idk. But I wanted to be be very sensitive to spoilers because it’s a leak.
Even though the title is spoiler tagged, I am also going to spoiler tag the body of this post as well. Not sure if leak posts are allowed though—the rules do not mention leaks, so ima tag this appropriately and go with it.
I haven’t seen that much discussion about the leaked cutscene. For me, it worries me greatly because on first viewing…I do no understand how this cutscene was left out of Lightfall.
The cutscene talks about The Witness’s origins and its race, confirmation that The Traveler is the Gardener, and how The Veil is a dark mirror to the The Traveler.
I don’t think anything I just said is super super revealing—rather that info would have made the entire Lightfall campaign actually have some damn context lol.
I still think its poorly written, classic “here’s a breadcrumb, now here’s 20 more questions” Bungie “storytelling”. But man, idk how they chose to not include it. It does provide some basic basic context of the Lightfall campaign.
And then there is the end of the cutscene. The Witness is confirmed to be a an amalgamation of Meeseeks from stuck and snotty lol.
Like……what lol?
If you are not familiar with the show Rick and Morty, there is an episode in the first season of Rick and Morty called “Meeseeks and Destroy”. In the episode, Morty’s family complains about all of the random chores they have, and so Morty can’t go on an adventure with Rick, so Rick gives them the Meeseeks Box.
The box summons a Meeseeks, a being that hates its own existence and existence in general. “Existence is pain!” is a common thing they say, as the longer they are alive, the more pain and decay they suffer.
Meeseeks’ sole purpose is to complete a task. Once they do, they blink out of existence and die lol.
The Meeseeks complete all kinds of tasks, until the main joke and plot point for the episode happens—Jerry, Morty’s dad, is portrayed as a very stupid and incompetent person. He asks the Meeseeks to “take a stroke off of his golf game”. But no matter how helpful and amazing the Meeseeks are (they do help everyone else)
….Jerry sucks so terribly bad, the Meeseeks sent to help him summons more Meeseeks…and they also can’t solve it…so the episode becomes all of these Meeseeks trying to kill Jerry, because again, the longer they exist without fulfilling their purpose, they exist in pain.
And we now know that…The Witness is an amalgamation of Meeseeks lol. Their race worshiped the Traveler until they found the Darkness via the Veil, became edgelords who deemed existence to be pain, sought purpose and meaning beyond that pain in the universe, and decided that combining the Veil with the Traveler’s power would let them end the universe, freeing everyone and everything in existence from the pain and loss of existence itself.
Take that goofy nonsense and combine it with how Bungie is going to pull a hey look, everyone is alive now at the end of the story to confront the big bad guy, as we assemble our team of Avengers…where all of our former enemies become allies…which has to be why Savathûn and Oryx are on ice rather than dead…
Ugh. It’s good to know a bit more about The Veil, The Witness, and that the Traveler is the Gardner. We also can confirm the speakeauthor in the Unveiled lore book IS the Witness and not the Darkness.
We also know now that the veiled statues represent the Final Shape—a literal darkness veil draped over a woman—the woman representing the Traveler.
Despite how cool these little details are, the overall story seems to be so silly now. “Existence is pain”, so the race of Meeseeks Voltron combine to become the Witness, and plan to just wipe out all life because living and growing and creation only lead to pain, so why bother?
We learned through past expansions and seasons and Mara that the Darkness isnt technically evil, so learning that Mr. Meeseeks aka “The Witness” became an extremely edgy teenager after “studying and witnessing the truth the darkness revealed” makes no sense.
Idk. Let me know what you think. It feels like it’s becoming more and more clear that we are reaching for a “true balance of Light and Dark was always the way” is the type of ending that is coming, where we bring every major character back to stop the evil once and for all.
Kinda lame and the mystery of “what The Traveler” or “what The Veil is” are just kinda…irrelevant now. Light and Dark are forces of nature, kind of sidelined for the end of the story to be honest.
One final annoyance: we now also know that the Pyramid ships are empty, because the race who made them amalgamated into The Witness. They are ships made by that original race the Witness belonged to.
Which…ugh. It sounds more like Bungie ran out of time, energy, and budget, so this was a cop out lore excuse to hand wave that away.
And it’s even more annoying, because they did the same thing with the citizens of Neomuna—they are all conveniently in the Cloudark, so we only see their golden ghost projections.
Pulling that trick once…whatever I guess. But twice? Back to back lol? Ugh.
Seems like a Bungie doesn’t know what to do or they don’t have the budget to pull it off…so the end of the saga is looking to be a complete mess.
The Witness’s motivation is so weak and random. It seems like such a mysterious, ancient being…and it just wants to end existence to free people from pain…like what? Thats so boring and such a basic bad guy motivation.

Top 10 things to do in Rome ⭐ Sponsored by BEEYOND packing cubes, a revolutionary new way to pack your luggage 🧳 🎒 👉 https://amzn.to/43uwwz0 👈 (on Amazon) 🔥📚 Rome PDF Guide 👉 https://amzn.to/3qB2U47 🔥 Here are our top 10 picks: NUMBER 10: Roman Forum & Palatine Hill The Roman Forum developed gradually over many centuries from what was a swampy lake collecting water from the surrounding hills. The forum was the center of public life in ancient Rome. Located next to the Colosseum and surrounded by government facilities and other important buildings – it was the venue of major public events such as elections, criminal trials, processions, or public speeches. We all probably heard about the legend that says Rome was founded by Romulus, who killed his twin brother Remus after the two of them have been raised by a she-wolf. Romulus is supposed to be buried under the Roman Forum. After the fall of the Empire, the Forum was neglected. It was used as a meadow for livestock and got the nickname Campo Vaccino, meaning Cow Field. The site was first excavated in the 18th century and is now an enormous open-air museum featuring relatively well-preserved ruins of old buildings. If you don't have time to visit the area, you can see a big part of the forum from the public street above. Don’t skip Foro di Traiano and other interesting buildings just across the street. Located above Roman Forum, you will find Palatine Hill, one of the seven hills of ancient Rome. The settlements on Palatine Hill date back as far as the 10th century BC. Today you can visit an impressive collection of archaeological sites from different eras of ancient Rome. According to a legend, the she-wolf that took care of Romulus and Remus lived here. Don't skip impressive views of the entire Roman Forum from terrace on Palatine Hill. NUMBER 9: Colosseum Located right next to the Roman Forum, you will find Colosseum – the largest amphitheater ever built. Construction of this remarkable structure was completed in the year 80 and was made using stone and concrete to demonstrate Roman building techniques to the entire world. The amphitheater was a gift to the people of Rome by the Flavian Dynasty to gain their popularity. In fact, for that reason, the emperors organized significant events in the Colosseum, and they were free to attend, and sometimes even free food for the visitors was provided. Colosseum was used for gladiatorial combats, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, as a stage for theatrical performances, and other public spectacles. While the structure still stands earthquakes damaged it over the years. NUMBER 8: Altare Della Patria Altar of the Fatherland or Altare Della Patria in Italian is a large monument built on top of a part of Capitoline Hill. The monument was built in honor of the first king of unified Italy, Victor Emanuel II, and is, to this day, actually the largest monument in Rome. The construction began in 1885, but the monument was not completed for another 50 years. The construction of Il Vittoriano, as it is also called, was controversial because it included destroying a large part of Capitoline Hill's Medieval neighborhood. You can climb the monument, see the tomb of the unknown soldier, visit the museum of Italian Unification, and complete your tour by visiting an impressive terrace with amazing views of Rome. NUMBER 7: Villa Borghese Gardens Villa Borghese is a large public park comprising several buildings, villas, museums, a zoo, and other attractions. The park is located close above Piazza Del Popolo, one of Rome's main squares. The garden was created in 1605 from a former vineyard. In the 19th century, the park was designed to its current form and was purchased by the city of Rome for public use. Terrazza del Pincio, located at the south of the park, offers one of the best panoramic views of Rome. Villa Borghese offers an array of activities: you can rent a boat on one of the lakes in the park and row around the inspiring Temple of Asclepius, visit the Waterclock at Pincio, or stop at one of the open-air restaurants and cafes. Terrazza Viale del Belvedere, situated close to Casina Valadier, offers another beautiful view of the city. Don't skip other impressive gardens and parks in Rome. Check our travel guide for more suggestions. BTW, our mobile-friendly travel guide covers the top 20 things to do in Rome and things to know before you visit, including maps, opening hours, links to buy tickets, itinerary suggestions, and other information. By purchasing our travel guide, you are also helping us sustain this channel, so a big thank you for that! NUMBER 6: Piazza Navona and the underground ruins of the Circus Agonalis Piazza Navona is a Baroque square from the late 15th century that features several impressive statues and fountains from Baroque architecture. The square was built in the 1st century on a former Dominitian's stadium, now, the ruins are a part of the Unesco World Heritage. The stadium was used for athletics competitions known as "Circus Agonalis" or the competition arena. You can still recognize the square's unique shape and visit the ruins of the stadium 4.5 meters (15 ft.) under Piazza Navona. Later in history, the square turned into a lake during the summer to stage famous naval battles. There are even some legends about ghosts who wander around the square. NUMBER 5: Trevi Fountain and underground labyrinths Stretching 86 feet or 26 meters in the air, Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous fountains in the world. The fountain was built on the façade of a palace in 1751. The water for the fountain was delivered from Acuqa Vergine, one of Rome's aqueducts, and was considered the purest water you can drink in Rome. The legend says that whoever drinks the water from the fountain or throws a coin in it will return to Rome. By the way, nearly 700,000 euros worth of coins are tossed into Trevi Fountain each year. Don't skip the remains of a Roman house and aqueduct. Vicus Caprarius located just around the corner of the Trevi Fountain, is a system of underground labyrinths from the Roman Times, offering insight into ancient Rome's life, engineering, and ingenuity. It was a part of the complex Virgin Aqueduct that supplied potable water to the city, including Trevi Fountain. NUMBER 4: Spanish Steps Spanish Steps are a colossal stairway of 135 steps connecting the Spanish Embassy with the Trinità dei Monti church. The steps were built in the 18th century by a French diplomat and took only two years to complete. As the widest stairway in Europe, Spanish Steps quickly gained recognition and eventually became one of the main Roman attractions. According to the tradition, sometime during the spring, part of the steps are decorated with flowers, making an extraordinary sight. At the bottom of the Spanish Steps, there is Piazza di Spagna with the famous Fontana della Barcaccia, dating back to the early Baroque period. Check our Rome 4K walking tour with closed captions to get the full experience, including bohemian Trastevere, and other major sights and hidden gems. The link is in the description. NUMBER 3: Pantheon Pantheon is a former Roman temple constructed in the second century AD by the Roman Emperor Hadrian. In 609, Pantheon was given to the pope and was converted into a church. Pantheon is the best-preserved ancient Roman monument. Its impressive concrete dome features an oculus in the center which serves as the primary source of natural light. Since there is no glass covering the oculus when it rains, the floor gets wet. Still, because of an ingenious system of 22 well-hidden holes, the water quickly drains away. NUMBER 2: Baths of Caracalla Bathing was a part of daily activities in Roman culture, and baths were the central part of Roman urban architecture. The impressive and vast complex of the Baths of Caracalla, which is now only the ruins, was built between 212 and 216 by the Roman Emperor Caracalla to gain popularity. People of different social classes came to the baths every day, not only to bathe but also to socialize. The Baths of Caracalla even featured an entire public library. However, the baths also hide a darker side. In the underground tunnels, hundreds of slaves worked in extreme heat to keep the water warm all the time. If you like ancient public baths, don’t skip Baths of Diocletian. This video is sponsored by Beeyond, helping you save space and organize your suitcase. NUMBER 1: Vatican City Covering an area of 110 acres (44 ha) and with only about 1,000 inhabitants, Vatican City is the smallest state in the world by both area and population. The official name is Vatican City State, and it has been the pope's residence since the year 1377. While the central area is closed to the public, there are many attractions to see, for example, St. Peter's Square and Basilica which are impressive examples of Renaissance architecture. Visit Vatican Museums, displaying a collection of 20,000 works of art. Don't skip Sistine Chapel and one of the most famous frescos in the world, The Creation of Adam, painted in the 16th century by Michelangelo. And here is the bonus that we promised: Did you know that Rome has its own pyramid dating back 2000 years? As a result, Rome is also full of mausoleums and crypts worth exploring, such as The Pyramid of Cestius, an ancient pyramid built around 18–12 BCm a tomb for Gaius Cestius. Did you know that Rome actually had two pyramids build as tombs? Meta Romuli was also build in the 1st century was demolished by the 16th century. Castle Sant'Angelo, Hadrian Mausoleum that was later used by popes and as a fortress and a castle. Mausoleum of Augustus, and others. And did you know that there is an area just outside the city center called Appia Antica Park or Appian Way Regional Park with the 2,300-year-old Via Appia road? Here you can find several of the underground burial grounds - Roman catacombs. While there are over sixty catacombs in Rome, with over 180 miles or 300 km of underground passageways, only some are open to the public. 2023.06.07 16:05 ItCantHurtToTry 27 [M4F] NYC - Looking for a Special Someone
Is it blind optimism that chains you to the refresh button? Perhaps some desperation or boredom in the stew? It’s certainly not for the quality of the writing; my eyes have long since glazed over from hollow platitudes in my own semi-successful quest to leave this subreddit.
If you’re similarly inclined, let’s skip the formalities and drill down to brass tacks. I’ll stick to the more verifiable qualities, and leave the personality guessing game for later. To start, I’m 27 and starting residency in July. Still NYC. It’s left me without a lot of time to myself, yet just enough to spend with the right someone. I’m also a major foodie, replete with my own map of food adventures in waiting. Amateur writer with an outsized ego, probably. I also have a love of board games and video games, especially when it comes to game night. Also a fan of other nerdy vices like Disney, Pixar, Ghibli and the occasional anime. Big traveler, but not worth bragging about. Not very religious, but always down for a philosophical discussion. Open book if you have other questions.
As for my appearance, I am half Jewish half Chinese but most people would just guess white. Normal build, not overweight unless its post AYCE sushi. Happy to swap pics as proof.
Of course, I have my own preferences as well. I’m looking for someone well educated and smart, a good career is a bonus. If you like to describe yourself in astrology or Meyers Briggs terms, it’s probably not gonna work out between us. A little picky in terms of looks as well, I want someone that I'm attracted to. I do prefer conventionally attractive looks, something average in weight and height or so with a hopefully cute face to pair with it. I see kids in my future, so if they aren’t in yours, I’m betting they aren’t the same. Very much looking for someone in the NYC area as well, since I’m not one for LDRs.
If it wasn’t apparent, I’m only looking for something more serious, and certainly nothing strictly platonic. I spent 4 months with an incredible girl I met on here last time, so here's to hoping there's more where that came from.
