2023.06.06 18:42 SarkastiCat [Eurovision] [Pre-selections for Eurovision] UnPolished pre-selections
Eurovision Song Contest is an international competition that has been running annually since 1956. It's a massive event as a total of 52 countries participated in Eurovision and it's a fun event. Everybody has their own reason for watching it from supporting their own country, celebrating different cultures, enjoying music to appreciating Dustin the Turkey.
You don't need to know details on how voting works or how Eurovision works as we are going to focus on something else. Specifically, the process of choosing the performer. Some countries have a committee that picks a willing performed and some host a competition.
The size and length of the competition differ in each country as every country has their own budget. You can either have Swedish Melodifestivalen or Polish Tu Bije Serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję!. Today, we are going to focus on Poland's history of pre-selections and the latest drama.
Important information.
The post is a bit unique due to the nature of the sources. It's recommended to listen to music videos from 2023 with headphones and without them to get the full experience. There will be mentions of gossip and conspiracies, so wearing a tin foil hat is recommended. Almost all sources are in Polish and they were translated by me. I'm not a professional translator and so I am prone to making mistakes. After a while, this post is going to be edited to include a link to a comment explaining the translation process. Holding onto memories - The history of Poland in Eurovision
Poland debuted in 1994 with "To nie ja" by Edyta Górniak, who was sent by a Polish tv broadcaster known as TVP. The song
almost got disqualified, but it wasn't and Górniak got 2nd place for Poland. It was the first time, when Poland was in the top 3 and also currently the last one.
Then there were 5 years of being outside the top 10, which resulted in Poland withdrawing from Eurovision 2000. Poland returned for the 2001 edition, but Piasek's bad performance resulted in Poland withdrawing again.
Then in 2003, Ich Troje with "Keine Grenzen - Żadnych Granic" finally breaks the unlucky strike as they manage to get 7th place. Unfortunately, the unlucky strike comes back. Blue Cafe only manages to get 17th place. Next years are similarly bad. 2 years of not qualifying for the final, 24th place and 3 years of not qualifying. One of the representatives that didn't qualify was Ich Troje, who came back with "Follow my heart".
Poland withdrew again for 2 years, partially due to hosting UEFA Euro with Ukraine. The return of Poland in 2014 was controversial as "My słowianie" by Donatan & Cleo was chosen. The song is basically about how Slavic girls are the best wives as they know how to use body language. It divided Polish viewers. Some treated it as a fun satire of Polish stereotypes (hypersexual girls, poor old-fashioned country, etc.), while others had issues with the song spreading these stereotypes and the sexual nature of the music video.
According to one of the biggest Polish newspapers, Britain described the song as a typical weird Eurovision song and they thought it was about bread. Sweden threw sexism allegations, while Germany described the music video as softcore porn.
It also started a discussion about Eurovision and how it's viewed by others. The same newspaper described Polish viewers treating participation in Eurovision as a matter of national pride and how the scale of emotions is similar to a schizophrenic patient running from one end of the room to another. Even when the quality of competition can be questionable.
Donatan&Cleo got 14th place and Poland didn't withdraw. It was probably a good decision as Michał Szpak with his song "Colour of Life" got 8th place in 2016. There were two controversies surrounding Szpak. One of them was a difference between televotes and judges' votes, but the controversy was quickly forgotten. Another controversy is related to TVP, but I will cover it later.
Then Poland got 22nd place and it had 3 songs not qualifying for a final in the row, again. The third song that didn't qualify was "The Ride" by RAFAŁ, which became a meme due to a horrible live performance. It was so bad that many Polish viewers wanted RAFAŁ to not qualify for finals.
The unlucky strike got interrupted by "River" by Ochman, who managed to get 12th place. The live performance became meme due to cheap special effects.
I ain't done yet - Everything about TVP
TVP (Telewizja Polska S.A) is one of the oldest TV broadcasters in Poland and also a controversial one. If you say "politics" and "TVP" in one sentence, you are legally allowed to change your name to Pandora. But you can't escape from TVP, especially if you are interested in music competitions for newcomers. They are associated with one of the biggest music festivals in Poland (Opole Festival) and run three different editions of The Voice (Of Poland, Kids and Senior). Other TV broadcasters don't offer too much. Polsat keeps changing trying different formats and the last music competition was in 2020. TVN has only Got Talent.
Going back to Eurovision, TVP is responsible for anything related to Eurovision. Depending on the year, you may expect either an internal selection carried or a competition. Both of them have their own unique reputation due to many reasons.
The most controversial entry from an internal selection is The Ride from 2021. At that time, most people expected to see Alicja with her song "Empires". Alicja won Szansa na Sukces (a music competition, where singers get a chance to perform somewhere) and she was supposed to participate in Eurovision 2020, but it got cancelled due to covid. Most countries decided to send their 2020 representative, so expectations weren't unreasonable. Yet, TVP decided to do something else and Poland ended up getting multiple memes about RAFAŁ instead of the sweet victory.
However, this doesn't mean that music competitions are without flaws. Some people in TVP wanted to remove Michał Szpak from the competition due to being worried about him potentially winning, but the
director Radek Kobiałko and other people organising the competition 2016 decided to stand up against it. The reason behind it is unclear, but Michał Szpak used to be controversial due to his androgynous looks and presentation.
Then there were some minor issues with the first edition Tu Bije Serce Europy!, which were brought up one year later due to the 2023 drama. Some viewers have noticed that one song "Paranoia" by Daria has been promoted by TVP. Daria performed her song before the show. She performed at New Year's Eve's Music Festival by TVP and somebody could say that was TVP's conspiracy to secure Daria's televotes victory. However, Ochman won and some say it was due to the voting consisting of two rounds.
This leads us to 26th February 2023 and the latest drama. Grab your popcorn as we are going back to the past and I am going to serve as your host.
Welcome to the party - The show
It's 17:30 and you are watching TVP 1. The show begins and so it's time to explain to you how the show works.
Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję! 2023 works similarly to the previous edition. Every performed could send one song and that song had to meet standard requirements for Eurovision. Specific requirements are under point 6 and other rules, can be read
here. Around 300 songs were sent to TVP and only 10 of them could make it to the show.
Each judge has 100 points and they have to judge each contestant... That's how I would explain rules if they weren't changed
4 days before the competition. It was a fully legal move from TVP as rule 39 specifies that TVP has the power to change rules. The explanation was given by TVP and rules were changed to be closer to those in Eurovision.
Now each judge gives points (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) to contestants. Points are then added together and the contestant with the highest total gets 12 points. The next person gets 10 points, etc. Viewers can still vote and they are still as important as judges. Voting works the same, except viewers don't give points.
Without further ado, let's meet the judges and the contestants.
The judges - Edyta Górniak - She is our first judge and the chairwoman of judges. She is a singer active since 1990 and she has been at the centre of gossip magazines since her participation in Eurovision. She was a judge in some TVP music competitions such as The Voice of Poland and she performed in many events organised by TVP. She also performed in other shows hosted by other TV broadcasters. Like in the case of many stars, Górniak caused many controversies. One of the things that you should know is the fact that Górniak is spiritual and openly talks about her beliefs.
- Agustin Egurrola - If you are watching a music/dance competition or a music festival on TV, you will probably see him or his name. Egurolla is a famous dancer and choreographer. He worked in many different shows as either a dance choreographer or a judge. His dancers performed at NYE Music Festival 2022.
- Marek Sierocki - So there is a mixture here. He is well known for journalism, hosting some music competitions or being a commentator for those. This includes Eurovision Junior 2021.
- Aneta Woźniak - A new director in TVP. There isn't a lot of information about her and she was mostly involved with TVP ABC (a channel for children).
- Marcin Kusy - A director of Polish radio Jedynka.
The contestants - Natasza "Lift U Up"- If you ever watched other Polish pre-selections or 365 days, you may know her. Her career is longer than my life and you would probably see her at least once on TVP.
- Kuba Szmajkowski "You Do Me"- A fresh blood in the Polish celebrity world. His career started after performing in The Voice Kids 2017 and he managed to perform in finals. He performed in TVP's New Year's Eve Music Festival 2021 and 2022
- Ahlena "Booty" - A new singer that never for the public. She started composing in 2020 and her first song was "Booty".
- Dominik Dudek "Be Good" - The winner of the latest edition of The Voice of Poland that had a final in November 2022. The show started his career.
- Alicja "New Home" - The winner of pre-selections for Eurovision 2020, which unfortunately didn't happen due to covid. She has won 3 music competitions broadcasted by TVP and her music career has been steady since 2019.
- Felivers "Never Back Down" - Another fresh blood in the music world that has been active for 3-4 years. They performed Uptown Funk at TVP's NYE music festival 2022.
- Maja Hyży "Never Hide" - An established star that has started her music career thanks to TVN's X Factor 2012. She performed with Kuba Szmajkowski in 2021 and 2022 at the same music festival.
- Jann "Gladiator" - His career started in 2020 and performed in an alternative music festival known as Off Festival. Tu Bije Serce Europy! is his TV debiut.
- Blanka "Solo" - 2021 can be considered as the start of her music career. Solo is her second song and she performed it for TVP's NYE Music Festival 2022. She also performed as a guest for You Can Dance - Nowa Generacja 2.
- Yan Majewski "Champion" - Yan is another contestant of The Voice of Poland, specifically the 2021 edition. He later performed at the Grand Prix Festival of young talents 2022, TVP's NYE music festival 2022 and You Can Dance - Nowa Generacja 2.
At this point, you may probably see 3 things that were pointed out by fans and the media. The most obvious one is a lack of songs in Polish. Feliver's song only has one Polish segment and that's it. It has been a point of competition criticism, but it isn't anything abnormal. Poland has sent multiple entries in English and even English & Spanish before.
Another thing that can be noticed is the fact that only Ahlena and Jann don't have ties to TVP. Many contestants have performed for TVP at one point and many of them performed a couple of months before the competition. In the case of Yan Majewski and Blanka, you could see them on TVP a couple of days before the competition.
The third thing would be the quality of the show. While not all videos come directly from TVP, the quality doesn't differ that much from what you would see on TV.
Journalists and fans openly talked about their ears bleeding thanks to some performances. There were even jokes about the quality of special effects and anything related to visuals. At this point, Poland's special effects are a meme and you can find videos depicting how the performance of (Insert Eurovision 2023 contestant) would look like if they represented Poland. What doesn't help is the fact that
recordings from the audience and journalists tend to have better audio.
From things that you could only see by watching the full show, all contestants got at least one round of applause from the public. The craziest applause was for Jann before and after his performance. The beginning of his introduction could be barely heard and even hosts acknowledged the madness after his performance.
Now let's reveal results. During the show, Edyta Górniak was responsible for revealing results.
Name | Score |
Blanka | 12 |
Dominik Dudek | 10 |
Felivers | 8 |
Jann | 7 |
Natasza | 6 |
Alicja | 5 |
Yan Majewski | 4 |
Kuba Szmajkowski | 3 |
Maja Hyży | 2 |
Ahlena | 1 |
This didn't sit well with the public. When Jann's score was revealed, many people started booing. It was so loud that Edyta Górniak had to ask whoever was giving her score to repeat themselves and you could hear it on TV.
There was also another moment of booing and screaming "EDYTA" after the results were revealed. Then it changed to screaming "USTAWKA" (set-up) and one of the hosts had to calm down the public again. Performances of the contestants were replayed and you can guess what happened when Jann's performance was shown. The crowd went for applause this time and became quiet during Blanka's performance.
This brings us to televoting. Rules changed again and now you can send up to 20 SMS from one SIM card. The cost of one SMS is 3.69 zł, which was the equivalent of $0.83 (US), £0.69 or €0.78. The total number of votes is unknown.
So now let's reveal the final score and the televote scores.
Name | Total Score | Televote Score |
Blanka | 22 | 10 |
Jann | 19 | 12 |
Dominik Dudek | 18 | 8 |
Felivers | 14 | 6 |
Yan Majewski | 11 | 7 |
Alicja | 10 | 5 |
Natasza | 8 | 2 |
Kuba Szmajkowski | 6 | 3 |
Maja Hyży | 6 | 4 |
Ahlena | 2 | 1 |
Originally, TVP didn't reveal televote scores and viewers only had the total score. The televote ranking has been released by
TVP one day later. Number of televotes is still not confirmed. According to
one source, TVP has received over 35000 votes. There is also gossip that Jann has received 18000 votes, while Blanka has received only 6000.
But even without specifics, the audience was lukewarm. When 2nd place and 1st place were about to be revealed, the audience was cheering for Jann. When Blanka was revealed, the audience lost its energy. There were some cheers instead of booing, but they weren't too loud.
They mad - Initial reactions
While Blanka's show didn't end with booing, celebrities and social media exploded.
The celebrities' side had reactions ranging from strongly negative to neutral. Ralph Kamiński was
openly supporting Jann and even promoted him. He also criticised the format of the show and how only viewers should decide whom to send to Eurovision. He called the situation a "SCANDAL!" and "SHAME!!!".
Michał Szpak was supporting Jann. When the results were revealed, he
supposedly end up laughing and swearing on Instagram. During one of his interviews,
he openly states that he is in Team Jann but he will be still supporting Blanka. He also added there will be lots of work for Blanka, but he is still hopeful and the song itself is catchy.
Maja Hyży, Kuba Szmajkowski,
Doda and
Roxie Węgiel (Eurovision Junior 2018 winner) share similar views. Their interviews can be reduced to how they were cheering for Jann or another contestant, but it doesn't mean that they will not support Blanka. Then there is a small talk about how she doesn't deserve hate or how her song is catchy.
When ask about songs and singing abilities,
Agnieszka Hekiert end up praising Jann's vocal abilities and only said that Blanka's song is a well-produced pop piece. Similarly, Ochman
avoided answering a more direct question "Does Blanka sing nicely?".
Another celebrity worth mentioning is Ramona Rey. She also
preferred Jann and she was the first celebrity to call out the lack of clarity from TVP regarding how songs for the show were selected. She also called out the lack of Polish songs and mentioned how her rejected song predicted the future.
Even those supporting other contestants had a negative reaction to Blanka. Sandra Kubicka was supporting and promoting Dominik Dudek due to him "
singing, playing the guitar, composing and writing his own songs". Her reaction to Blanka was calling her song "disco polo". Disco polo has a similar reputation to modern pop. Some love it and some consider it low-quality music.
Social media was less kind than celebrities. People were either attacking Blanka or TVP. Every tiny move of judges and contestants was analysed. Some even dug through the social media of contestants to make their point about how somebody deserves or doesn't deserve to represent Poland. At that time, you could easily encounter homophobia, racism and conspiracy theories.
Media obviously decided to produce multiple articles about this situation and every website presented something different. It's hard to say if they media the situation worse or better as multiple things have been happening at the same time.
People were divided. For some, Blanka was
a twin sister of Ariana Grande that didn't show anything special. That's from one article and from there comments kept getting worse or better. Blanka was either considered a shallow rich girl with a generic song or a singer making others smile with her summer vibes. On another hand, Jann was a talented underdog who was too controversial for TVP or a copy of Måneskin that was singing out of tune.
TVP and others also got lots of comments. Some openly stated that they would be fine with Jann losing, if TVP decided to send either Dominik Dudek or Alicja. Others mentioned the political situation in Poland and how TVP perfectly shows corruption in Poland. One of the things that got pointed out was Blanka having a contract with Warner Music Poland and how TVP could earn money by having Blanka work for them.
Similar theories were slowly popping out and they were discussed by fans. So quickly fix your tin foil hats as we will be moving to the next sections.
Dance along with me - Egurrola's involvement
One of the most popular theories was how judges were voting for Blanka due to personal reasons. Agustin Egurolla and Edyta Górniak were the main focus of these theories.
To start with Egurrola, you can't run away with him as he is always doing something associated with dancing. He either sends his dancers or creates choreographies for multiple shows. Egurolla was supposedly working with Blanka for NYE 2022 music festival and
his dancers performed with her for Tu Bije Serce Europy!. There were implications of potential bias and some people pushed this theory further. Supposedly, Egurrola didn't want Jann as Jann wouldn't agree to perform with his dancers and Egurolla wouldn't make money. The extra bit of this theory is based on the fact that Jann created his own choreography and performed without dancers.
Egurolla's controversy got worse thanks to his co-worker, Michał Piróg. Piróg published on his Instagram a picture of him with Egurrola and judges from You Can Dance - Nowa Generacja. In his description he wrote:
"I always sat behind the table and waited for something that would suprise me and enchant me, but there were those who asked beforehand "Who should be the best?"...."
This was later followed up by his comment, which appears to be deleted. Fortunately, the media saved it.
"The chairman, the second man on the picture, the man of the internal businness. Call it as you like"
The post was published a couple of days after the show and most people interpret it as
a criticism of what happened in Tu Bije Serce Europy! and the implication that Egurrola had something to do with Blanka's victory.
In the end, the drama surrounding Egurrola died after a reveal that
he will not work on Blanka's choreography for Eurovision.
Everybody has somebody - Involvement of Górniak's family
In the case of Górniak, there were multiple dramas surrounding her and her son. They lived for longer than Egurrola's drama due to Edyta's multiple responses and the fact that she was a chairwoman of judges.
Allan Krupa is Edyta's son and he is known as Enso. Most articles refer to him using his real name and so I am going to use it to be more or less consistent.
Going back to the main topic, it has been noticed that
Allan was sitting next to Blanka during the competition and one picture was enough to start drama. People quickly started calling Blanka his friend or even lover. However, the first theory that Blanka is his friend became more popular due to Allan already dating somebody.
Allan quickly reacted to negative comments as some people were also attacking his girlfriends. He explained that
he didn't even know there were pre-selections and he knew about them after his mother called him a day before. He didn't know other contestants, except for Felivers. He thought that Blanka was just a dancer and she asked him if she can sit next to him.
This wasn't the end as Allan went on some angry rants. Some phrases can't be directly translated without losing their original meaning, so I've tried my best to localise some bits. Check this comment for more information.
"People are writing to me - as if I had a f^^^ing connection to Eurovision - you are re^^^^ed or you are f^^^ing something else"
There was also
another rant where he called people NPCs and how they make sh^t on the internet like animals for attention. He ends his rant saying that he understands that pre-selections are a situation of life or death and there is slaughter, when somebody doesn't win.
His story of not knowing Blanka was considered as weird. If it was true, then why Blanka had to search for a seat? Some questioned the legitimacy of this story as Allan has performed at NYE Music Festival 2022 like Blanka and he could theoreotically meet her there.
Allan was later defended by Edyta. He also posted some memes about how he manipulated pre-selections and Eurovision.
You do you and I do me - Edyta's involvement
Just after Blanka's victory,
Górniak has been interviewed. She started her interviews by saying that Blanka was chosen by judges and also viewers, when she was expecting to see a change. She then went on a talk about how she thinks that viewers chose Blanka as they need something sunny and international. Also, how people lack something optimistic after all these dramas in their lives.
She then started describing Jann. She described him as demonic, but characteristic and full of charisma. The use of the word "demonic" became controversial and a meme due to being peculiar. What makes the situation worse is the reputation of Edyta when it comes to spirituality. As I've previously mentioned, Górniak is open about her beliefs and she even talked about bad energies, including how Halloween is bad. Funnily,
Jann and somebody from his environment knew about this line and even made a joke about his salt necklace and potential exorcism. To add salt to this situation,
a recording from Dobry wieczór Europo! caught Górniak looking away and staring at the ceiling during the performance of Jann.
The day after the show,
Edyta wrote a comment on her Instagram post saying that if anybody sees issues with the clarity, they should report them to the producer of the show.
There was also a small misunderstanding of rules from Edyta's side as she said that
if people really wanted Jann to win, he would have won as televotes are responsible for 50% of the total score. But according to her, there were probably not enough votes sent to him. To clarify, Jann got the maximum possible amount of points from viewers and it's unlikely that getting more votes would change anything. So either Górniak was confused by how scores work or she didn't know that Jann has won televote.
Small bits like that started accumulating and started creating a weird picture. During one of the interviews, Edyta stated that
judges were questioning a bit if they should vote together or separately. At the end they shared each other's views while hiding their notes and voted separately.
The weirdest thing was
the timeline of events presented by Edyta. According to her, votes were collected right away and judges didn't have time to further discuss them. Votes were counted while she was preparing for her guest performance during the ad break. However, later she stated that judges gave their voting cards when she was going to the stage to perform. What doesn't click here is the fact that Górniak was performing after the ad break.
This either means that votes were collected twice (before and after the ad break) or Górniak misremembered the timeline of events. This added fuel to the fire and people kept asking for voting cards.
Górniak responded to that stating that she wouldn't have issues with her voting card being revealed. She also revealed that she was receiving results through her earpiece. It had a mixed reaction as TVP didn't reveal anything specific about voting cards and the bit about the earpiece fuelled the theory that somebody was manipulating behind the scenes.
The whole drama with
Edyta Górniak was closed by her final comments. In one of the deleted comments she openly said that she is getting hatred for just reading results and some hatred is coming from people due to her being an easier target than the institution. Then there were two comments that you just have to read:
"Regarding the project Eurovision, I've lost my trust to everybody. Even if the rules were about to be change and fixed, I will never go back to this topic. I've seen what was happening last year, I have also seen what people were doing when Rafał was sent to Eurovision. And now the same thing is happening. I feel like a shield that was borrowed by somebody and put at the front of doors. This topic is closed for me."
The other comment:
"I am sure that time will tell and respond to all doubts. [...] I recommend to remember that despite of me being an influential person, I am not a boss of bosses and I can't do everything. [...] I will pray for justice"
You are about to know - Other dramas
So before we talk about Blanka herself, there are some small things worth mentioning. They are mostly based on gossip and they didn't live too long.
According to one of the theories, TVP was setting up MaRina as Poland's representative.
She supposedly had to just send her song and everything would be set up. But after her performance at NYE Music Festival 2022, she supposedly withdrew.
From the same source, there is
a gossip that one judge had issues with Jann's costume and choreography They supposedly found his costume as too inappropriate and too controversial. His choreography supposedly had some errors. These factors together supposedly created an impression on this judge that Jann would struggle to get points at Eurovision.
Another drama was caused by the release date of the article about Blanka's victory. The article was supposedly released around 2 hours before the competition and some people supposedly have seen it before Blanka's victory was revealed. However, there is no evidence of that and
TVP explained the issue with the time of the article. The article supposedly saved the date of creation of the article instead of the release or final edit. The article was created early to publish results as fast as possible and it didn't contain names of contestants.
The final thing worth mentioning is an article talking about how
pre-selections in Moldova and Serbia were better than Polish pre-selection. Moldova showed the individual votes of judges and amount of votes sent by viewers, while Serbia released voting cards. Even Lithuania and Latvia were praised.
The cherry on top is a depiction of how much Germany's ranking would change if they followed the rules of Polish pre-selections. Lord of the Lost would get a second, while Will Church (the winner of the judge's voting) would win instead.
This is similar to one theory that the previous representative of Poland, Ochman wouldn't win if the competition followed new rules. This cemented an impression that rules were changed to set up a winner.
It's kinda crazy - Blanka
Since results the reveal of the results, Blanka had to deal with multiple comments and memes. Depending on whom you ask, their perception of Blanka will vary. For some, she became "Bejba" due to her pronunciation of "Babe" and multiple memes. Bejba became viral and
Ochman joined the trend. Even B
lanka herself embraced the meme by wearing a dress with the text "Bejba". She explained her decision by stating that everybody now calls her bejba.
For some, she became a symbol of everything wrong with TVP and people started searching for evidence of corruption or Blanka being evil.
Somebody pointed out that
Blanka's mother was working for TVP as a make-up artist for some shows. But it's possible that she was working for a company that happened to work for TVP and other tv broadcasters. For some, it was treated as evidence that Blanka has direct connections to TVP and there could be some bias.
Then there was another controversy regarding Blanka's social media.
She supposedly liked comments that were saying that Jann is from the margin of society, which was interpreted as a classist remark or queerphobia. Just in case, Jann didn't say anything about being LGBTQ+ and only his appearance is relatively androgynous. Going back to the topic, some people defended Blanka stating that she could miss this bit as the comment starts as rather supportive. Some questioned the validity of it as Blanka's relationship with Jann appears to be positive.
Blanka complimented Jann, while Jann was one of
the first people to cheer her up after the competition and
even defended her.
Another controversy was plagiarism. Specifically, there were allegations that Blanka either copied Clean Bandit's Solo or INNA's Up. These allegations remained allegations and that was their end.
The final controversy surrounding Blanka was a petition for Blanka's removal. There were two petitions and one of them has 91170 signatures. People wanted transparency from TVP and to see Jann perform in Eurovision.
Blanka reacted to the petition and she was hurt by it. Never back down - Eurovision
This year, Eurovision was divided into two parts. There were two semi-finals and one final. During the semi-finals, only viewers could vote.
Blanka performed in the second semi-final without massive issues and got 124 points. As a result, she got 3rd place in the second semi-final. It was a gigantic success and she beat the previous representative of Poland. Details can be found on
Eurovision website.
Generally speaking, there was a positive reaction. People have praised Blanka for improving her performance, especially her vocals. Solo became one of the most popular Eurovision 2023 songs.
There were only two minor issues worth mentioning. Norway's newspaper Verdens Gang has openly criticised Blanka. Unfortunately, my Norwegian is non-existent and so this translation is straight from Google Translate. The original comment can be found
here.
"Polish plastic pop reggae in the category that was once dominated by Swedes in the Stone Age (nineties). Blanka is probably not singing about Norwegian orange soda or a scruffy looking Star Wars hero, but about being completely alone in a relationship. The best thing that can be said about the "Solo" show is that she has the best glove of the finale. She falls out of tune, and loses her tone several times, That she actually thinks she can sing is hopelessly overwhelming. That, and that no adults have stopped this - regardless of the corruption charges."
Even Sweden talked about potential corruption and nepotism. They mentioned that Blanka's choreography was created by Egurolla. Funnily, even Edyta Górniak was mentioned, but she was called Blanka's mother-in-law.
Then there was a final performance, which had a similar reaction. The only difference was the lack of drama from the media and Polish fans even being proud of her. Blanka was placed 24th by judges and she was better than two performers. However, she got 8th place in televoting and it got her 19th place. A bit worse than the previous representative, who got 12th place.
The conclusion
Blanka managed to partially save her face and it's unclear what's going to happen in future. Blanka after Eurovision went on vacation and there hasn't been much news about her.
There was some discussion regarding her placement in televotes ranking and some people in the Eurovision subreddit have used her to make a point about how televoting is bad, while discussing the whole drama that happened due to Loreen's victory. For more information, I recommend checking
this write-up.
Other contestants of pre-selections are doing fine and many of them released new songs. Especially Jann is doing well as his fanbase tripled in size and he is going to perform at OGAE Second Chance. Edyta Górniak and her son are still active, while Agustin Egurrola is focusing on his dance studio.
TVP is still controversial due to politics and it will probably remain controversial for a long time due to recent events. Years of bad reputation are hard to erase and most people are ready for another controversy Eurovision controversy.

2023.06.06 18:04 zipstopher My NPD Ex Who's the Other Parent of Our Child
My ex was diagnosed with "personality disorder with narcissistic, histrionic, and obsessive compulsive features" in a two-report forensic custody evaluation during our divorce. Till then, I only knew my ex was highly vindictive, manipulative, and had an explosive temper if challenged by me. After the diagnosis, I started to realize I'd been the target of narcissistic abuse. Thank God I decided to end the marriage - although my ex had been prepared to make my life even more miserable using false allegations, etc. It took 2 years and over $100,000 (on my side) in divorce court, though, because my ex would not consent to allow me overnight visitation with our child. My ex only relented when we were about to go to trial and I slated as the first witness the forensic psychiatrist who conducted the custody evaluation. I don't think my ex wanted to be exposed as being personality disordered (ironically my ex's mother, sister and our child's babysitter told the forensic evaluator that I had a personality disorder, when in reality I had been in treatment for depression and anxiety throughout the marriage).
The case was settled and I was given every other weekend and midweek parenting time with our our child, who definitely had been put in the middle. For each visitation, I could tell that our child took time to get comfortable with me, but invariably the relationship was intact, and our bond strengthened. But my ex was relentless with criticism and veiled threats, saying our child did not feel comfortable with me. It was another form of gaslighting, because my ex kept reporting what our child had allegedly shared about my visitations - false versions of events that I witnessed and experienced with our child, who seemed very relaxed and comfortable spending time with me. I felt as if our child was being gaslit and narcissistically abused, and that the only respite was my visitations.
Our child just turned 14. In March of 2022, just before turning 13, our child rejected me, and has refused to see or talk to me since. I believe our child was alienated from me by my ex, because the withdrawal began in November 2021, very shortly after my ex found out that our daughter had spent some time with me and my significant other of over 2 years, who I had introduced our child to a few months earlier ,in August 2021. I don't believe our child told my ex about meeting my new partner, though, until my ex heard from the parent of our child's best friend that they had met me for the first time when dropped off our child at a lesson, accompanied by my partner. Afterwards, I heard that my ex had called the lesson instructor asking if our child had been with me and another person who looked like my partner - wanting to know what had been said or done by us with our child. Within a couple weeks, our child turned against me, saying the divorce agreement gave the then 12 year old decision making power over spending parenting time with me. This of course was false - the divorce agreement states the parents are the decision makers.
A few months later in March 2022, I was being investigated by CPS for alleged "inadequate parenting," because I did not honor our child's demands to be taken back to the other parent during visitations. Our child had by then also been refusing to eat or come our of their room at my house. But the allegations were determined unfounded. The report was made by our child's school counselor, who works down the hall from my ex in the same school. Ironically, our child's longtime psychologist did not report me to CPS.
After a year in family court, during which I fought to have reunification therapy with our child - who refused it - I decided to give up court, because the judge would not force our child to attend reunification therapy. I don't hear from our child at all - even though I was finally given an email and cell phone #. There's no response, but I assume our child can read my messages which always impart unconditional love and do not in any way blame or accuse. I can only hope that our child knows I'm still the same nice person that they spend weekends with for 6 years - and that it's ok for a parent to be flawed.
It hurts though. It feels like another form of narcissistic abuse through our child. It feels as if our child was "weaponized" by my personality disordered ex. I'm far from perfect. I feel like I've been broken, though. I'm trying my hardest to keep my life together. Thankfully my significant other is very supportive and understanding. But still, it hurts - especially when I send my child support payments to the person who I believe caused this.
Has anyone else on this sub experienced this kind of narcissistic abuse of a parent through a child? I worry our child is becoming personality disordered under my ex and that side of the family. Maybe someday our child will be able to think independently. But I feel horrible about our child not being able to experience a "normal" carefree childhood.

2023.06.06 17:55 scubasteve1000 NCAA Super Regional Site Selection Guidelines
I am not trying to change any opinions on which schools should be hosting since I sadly do not have a dog in the fight, but there seems to be some confusion about the criteria the committee considers when awarding hosting sites for the Super Regionals. Below are the stated guidelines in the NCAA Bylaws and the Baseball Host Operations Manual.
31.1.3.2.1 Criteria for Site Determination. The following criteria are to be used in the evaluation of sites for all competition in NCAA championships: (Revised: 11/1/01, 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08, 8/7/14, 10/4/17)
(a) Quality and availability of the facility and other necessary accommodations;
(b) Revenue potential (e.g., a financial guarantee or guideline that ensures fiscal responsibility and is appropriate for the particular event, as recommended by the governing sports committee and approved by the applicable sport oversight committee or the Competition Oversight Committee);
(c) Attendance history and potential;
(d) Geographical location; and
(e) Championships operating costs.
https://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/D123.pdf In addition to the criteria listed in Bylaw 31, the Division I Baseball Committee reviews the following criteria when selecting super regional sites:
- Super regional competition shall take place at on-campus or approved alternate sites.
- Prospective host institutions must submit a minimum financial guarantee of $35,000, which shall be 75 percent of the estimated net receipts as submitted on the hosting proposal (online proposed budget and financial report form). The $35,000 minimum applies to both two-day and three-day super-regional competition.
- Consideration for hosting shall be given to the better seed, including the 16 national seeds, if a suitable hosting proposal has been received (i.e., meets financial guarantee and quality of facility criteria). If the better seed has not submitted a proposal, the lower-seeded team will host if its proposal is acceptable.
- If the super regional match-up is between equally seeded teams, the committee shall review the hosting proposals according to the site selection criteria (i.e., quality and availability of facility, revenue potential and other available accommodations) to determine the host. If only one team has submitted a hosting proposal, that team shall host if the hosting proposal is acceptable.
- Lights are highly recommended at all prospective super regional sites. These lights should meet the NCAA standards found at: NCAA.com/news/ncaa/article/2013-11-21/ncaa-best-lighting-practices.
- The committee will consider previous crowd control and behavior of the prospective host institution.

2023.06.06 17:42 autotldr World Bank offers dim outlook for the global economy in face of higher interest rates
This is the best tl;dr I could make,
original reduced by 62%. (I'm a bot)
WASHINGTON - The global economy is likely slowing sharply this year, hobbled by high interest rates, the repercussions of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the lingering effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
That's the latest outlook of the World Bank, a 189-country anti-poverty agency, which estimates that the international economy will expand just 2.1% in 2023 after growing 3.1% in 2022.
The global economy has proved surprisingly resilient in the face of higher borrowing costs, and the World Bank predicts that growth will accelerate to 2.4% in 2024.
In its report Tuesday, the World Bank upgraded its forecast for U.S. economic growth this year to 1.1%. Though weak, that is more than double the growth the World Bank had envisioned in January.
The World Bank upgraded its 2023 outlook for China after Beijing late last year relaxed its draconian zero-COVID policies, which had restricted travel and hammered its economy.
The World Bank envisions Japan's growth decelerating to 0.8% this year from 1% in 2022.

2023.06.06 17:32 Sure-Royal-1054 WATCH Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online Free at Reddit
Sony Pictures! Here are options for downloading or watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch marvel's latest live-action adaptation movies at home. Is Spider-Verse 2 available to stream? Is watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
If you’re like just about everyone else on the planet who saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and loved it, you’ve probably been waiting for the sequel. You won’t be waiting long, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally coming out.
After a grueling five-year-long wait, Marvel fans everywhere will finally be able to return to the animated multiverse with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The upcoming sequel's predecessor requires no explanation, as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse not only ensnared audiences and critics alike but also caught a prestigious Oscar win with a Best Animated Feature award. With "New York's one and only Spider-Man," Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), now becoming a household name, fans of the first film eagerly awaited the day they could see young Miles swing into the Spider-Verse again.
Thankfully, the wait is almost finally over, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will return to screens soon. This time Miles will not only be reunited with Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) but he'll also be introduced to an entire multiversal society of Spider-people created and led by a particularly pessimistic variant of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac). Though some of the other variants in this secretive organization view Miles as a nuisance more than anything else, they'll have to learn to put those apprehensions aside if they hope to save the multiverse from an all-new terrifying threat. As the release date for the sequel to one of the most celebrated Spider-Man films ever made crawls closer and closer
Everyone's favorite web-slinger from an alternate dimension returns for a second theatrical outing. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues the multiverse-spanning adventures of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), one of the youngest and newest iterations of Spider-Man in his home dimension. A year after the events of Into the Spider-Verse, Miles is introduced to the Spider-Society, an immense organization of different Spider-People who hail from countless alternate dimensions.
The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is only one day away, and fans can’t wait to see the new adventures of Miles Morales. Once the Sony Pictures-produced movie ends its theatrical run, it will come to the most popular streamers, including Netflix and Disney Plus. But when is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix and Disney Plus? Here is precisely where and how you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse online.
When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was one of the many films to get hit by a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, moving from its original date of April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022. That's the date seen in the above trailer, but the film has since seen another significant delay since then. Now the film is officially set for release on June 2, 2023. Hopefully, we won't see another delay, but if it means getting a sequel that lives up to the sky-high heights of the original, we'll gladly wait.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023.
When is 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' streaming?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The home distribution rights for Across the Spider-Verse are in a rather interesting place. In April 2021, it was reported that Sony Studios had signed a multiyear deal with both Netflix and Disney for shared streaming rights to Sony films coming out between 2022 and 2026. This deal includes Across the Spider-Verse as well as the third film in the series, Beyond the Spider-Verse, due out in March 2024.
As for releases like Across the Spider-Verse, the film will be available on Netflix with "first-pay-window-rights" for the first 18 months of its home media release. While it will not be streaming concurrently with its theatrical release, it will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run.
Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.
For anyone else looking to watch the film as soon as possible, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on June 2.
How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
At the moment, you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.
Like its predecessor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Disney+ later this year too.
As for an exact release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September.
When the time comes for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.
As you wait for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live!. Enjoy!
Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on June 2, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Watch Now: Spider-Verse (2023) Movie Online Free
Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023.
In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the film’s theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a film’s theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases.

This post will be updated once there is a 100% officially confirmed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Netflix release date soon.

2023.06.06 17:19 My_Chat_Account Reddit's API changes and the impact on our community
Hello
/fantasyfootball users, While you are drafting best ball teams or preparing for your season-long leagues, you’ve probably become aware of Reddit’s announced plan to begin charging for API access. Such a change would most likely result in open-source Reddit modifications, including third-party apps, shutting down.
In other words, if you use any app other than Reddit's official app you will be forced to either switch to the inferior "official" app, use your phones internet browser, or forced to abandon Reddit on your phone all together.
Our community has a large user base, peaking at 85 million page views in September 2022. Almost half of those came from iOS. There's no way of identifying exactly how many of those users came via third-party apps, but half those users is a massive number. Many members of the mod team here also rely on third-party apps for managing day-to-day operations.
Because of the impact this decision will have on the community as a whole, the /fantasyfootball moderators have decided to join other subreddits in a site-wide blackout. On Monday, June 12 /fantasyfootball will be made private. The subreddit will remain private at least through Thursday, June 15. The next details have been adopted from
/PCGaming,
/wow and
/squaredcircle communities. Thanks to those communities for the efforts they've made.
Third-party Reddit apps (including Apollo, BaconReader, Reddit is Fun and others) are going to become ludicrously more expensive for its developers to run, which will in turn either kill the apps or result in a monthly fee to the users if they choose to use one of those apps to browse. Put simply, each request to Reddit within these mobile apps will cost the developer money. The developers of Apollo were quoted around $2 million per month for the current rate of usage.
The only way for these apps to continue to be viable for the developer is if you (the user) pay a monthly fee, and realistically, this is most likely going to just outright kill them. Put simply: If you use a third-party app to browse Reddit, you will most likely no longer be able to do so, or be charged a monthly fee to keep it viable.
Some people with visual impairments have problems using the official mobile app, and the removal of third-party apps may significantly hinder their ability to browse Reddit in general. Many moderators are going to be significantly hindered from moderating their communities because third-party mobile apps provide mod tools that the official app doesn't support. This means longer wait times on post approvals, reports, modmails etc.
NSFW content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that, even if 3rd party apps continue to survive, or even if you pay a fee to use a 3rd party app, you will not be able to access NSFW content on it. You will only be able to access it on the official Reddit app. Additionally, some service bots (such as video downloaders or maybe remindme bots) will not be able to access anything NSFW. In more major cases, it may become harder for moderators of NSFW subreddits to combat serious violations such as CSAM due to certain mod tools being restricted from accessing NSFW content.
Please feel free to share your thoughts on the decision and impact here.
Thank you,
/fantasyfootball moderators

2023.06.06 17:15 AutoModerator RepWeidianSneakers Member Guide and Rulebook: Read Upon Arrival and Before Posting!
Hello, and welcome to
RepWeidianSneakers! Whether you’re a long-time member or someone new who just straggled in from one of the other replica subreddits, this
recurring post will serve as an introduction to or reminder of the subreddit rules. This group runs in several key ways that may be different from other groups to ensure we maintain a high-quality group where well-informed replica buyers can engage in constructive conversation regarding the best batches for various shoes, batch flaws of popular and commonly purchased batches, and QC posts of new and old products alike.
Please do your best to stay up-to-date on the latest subreddit rules and cultural norms in order to make sure that your participation in the group is in accordance with how we run things here! All sub rules are visible along the side bar if on desktop, and under the "About" tab if on mobile. We appreciate your attention and diligence to subreddit policies, and hope you enjoy your time here!
The following rules will be outlined in the following ways:
- Most Important Rule of the Sub
- Post Formats (QC, Find, Help Me Find)
- General Subreddit/Reddit-Wide Rules
Rule #1: Sneakers from Weidian, TaoBao only This one should be self-explanatory - QCs for shoes purchased from middlemen are not allowed on this sub. I understand that many users value the input from members in this subreddit specifically due to their reputation and credibility, but we want to keep this sub as pure to its purpose as possible. If there are specific people from whom you want input from, feel free to post in the other rep subs and tag them.
Additionally, when users ask for recommendations on where to purchase, make sure to provide links to Weidian or TaoBao stores, and not middlemen. Middlemen sell Weidian/TaoBao products at a markup for convenience -
always focus on the actual product. Rule #2: QC Post Title Guidelines: [QC] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name} When posting your QCs or Finds, use the following format: [QC] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name}.
Example: [QC] 400¥ FK Batch Travis Scott x Jordan 1 High OG Mocha from A GDJ Supplier The Group Automod comments on every single post in this group with a reminder of this title format.
If your title does not include each of the necessary components in the brackets above, please be proactive and repost with the correct format. If you don’t delete the post, a moderator will, and that or repeated infractions may result in a temporary ban from the group.
This rule exists to ensure the group is easily searchable to help make researching batches on your own as streamlined as possible. Rule #3: QC Posts need W2C Link:
If you are posting a QC, make sure to post the W2C link. If the listing link is dead, please post the link to the store where the shoe was purchased instead. No W2C link will result in the deletion of your post!
You are welcome to post Weidian links, TaoBao links, or links from any shipping agent except for PandaBuy, given that PandaBuy forces you to login to see the item, whereas the other agent links do not.
Linking a PandaBuy link and not an alternative link will result in the deletion of your post. Rule #4: Help Me Find Post Title Guidelines: [HELP ME FIND] {Shoe Name} + Picture of Shoe If you are hunting for a certain pair, your
post title must include the Full Shoe Name and Colorway as well as a picture of the shoe in question. If either is missing, your post will be deleted.
This rule exists to reduce the number of repetitive “Help Me Find” posts, as a user will be able to search previously posted “Help Me Find” posts for the shoe they want. Example: [HELP ME FIND] Jordan 1 High Chicago
Rule #5: Find Post Title Guidelines: [FIND] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name} Okay, so you’re on WeChat, and a seller has posted a new product. You want to be the first one to post about it on Reddit, so you rush over and make the post. Great, pat yourself on the back. Just kidding. Don’t just stop there - put some thought into the post. How does this new find compare to other products on the market? Do they have potential? You don’t have to be an expert QCer, but give your general thoughts.
In short, were these worth finding? The hope is that with this general subreddit policy, it will encourage people to post high-quality finds and reduce clutter from low-tier finds that don’t add much to the group. Rule #6: Be Respectful of One Another Please be nice and courteous to one another. All rules of Reddiquette apply. Your membership in this subreddit is contingent upon your overall Reddit activity, not just limited to this subreddit. To put explicitly, this includes but is not limited to: harassing or disrespecting others in other subreddits, posting hate speech of any kind, or spreading misinformation. Any violation of this will result in the banning of your account and any alternate accounts you may be known to have!
Rule #7: No Cussing In line with the previous rule, no cussing on the sub, please. Often, on the rep subs, the only time people are cussing is to insult one another, spread misinformation, or speak illy in general. For this reason, an AutoMod is in place that will regulate posts and comments on the sub. Your post/comment will be deleted and you will receive a message alerting you if this happens. Bonus: Mr. Frosty can't post or comment without some sort of explicit language, so this simple rule (and the accompanying AutoMod) keeps the sub safe
Rule #8: Support Your Statements with Evidence Essentially, cite your source. Let's avoid being like other rep subs where people make up rumors or decide their opinions without any research or evidence.
If you comment saying a batch is the best or better than what has been posted, show us why. Link reference posts, rep vs retails, QCs, etc. Show, rather than tell, us why what you're saying is correct. If your statement is a good one, this shouldn't be difficult. As above, don't default to name calling if you can't support your statement. It is okay to have a well-informed opinion - it is not okay to have an uneducated opinion that you spread as fact.
If you run into issues with a member or members in the group that are not participating in this group norm, please tag a mod, and the situation will be handled accordingly.
Rule #9: No Seller Ads Self-explanatory. This especially applies to lost middlemen posting their fake QCs to try to gain business.
If you are a member and see this, please report the post. If a post receives enough reports, it is automatically removed and sent to the mod queue. This helps keep the group clean through community effort.
Rule #10: No WeChat Verification Posts I understand that you may want your WeChat verified in order to communicate with sellers or see their WeChat Moments. There are other subs for WeChat Verifications though. Please do not make these posts here. Use the appropriate subs. Posts will be deleted.
Rule #11: No Memes This group aims to be a research-focused subreddit. It prides itself on providing the most objective information possible. Please keep the memes or satire posts in other subs. This includes meme titles or captions such as "how fast do I need to walk" or "fire up the rep machines." These posts add little to no value and are often unoriginal anyway.
Any use of meme titles will result in a 14-day temp ban as previously announced, as will repeated infractions of posting other memes.
Lastly, this Group is Not Meant to Be a Direct Line to u/poncecatchemall Please reference his guides and resources linked below for answers to most commonly asked questions. He does not read chats asking repetitive questions, and mod mail is not meant to be used to ask specifically him questions, so do not use it for that purpose.
-
Poncecatchemall’s Recently Updated Beginner’s Batch Guide where I cover top batches for popular shoes. -
Poncecatchemall’s Select Weidian/TaoBao Finds: November 2022 Edition covering popular purchases with all W2C Links -
Never used an agent? Check out Poncecatchemall’s Updated Weidian, TaoBao, Agent: How-To Guide for a step-by-step guide on how to purchase reps using WeGoBuy -
How to Ask Poncecatchemall For a QC/LC please follow these instructions if you want a response.
Thank you in advance to everyone for following the sub rules and for keeping this sub a great, high-quality sub to be a part of. If there are any rule addition recommendations, we are always open to suggestions.

2023.06.06 17:01 Lanky-Jelly25 Bequiet has some of the best customer service, my experience with them living in a non serviced region
So I purchased a bequiet shadow rock series air cooler back in 2014 for a small amount of 30$ , I moved countries later to Asia and so did the cooler with me to a place where bequiet does not sell their products not will it ever most probably.
2017 am4 releases I fill out the form since I purchased a am4 mobo first gen ryzen, to my surprise they ship me the bracket free of cost from their hq in Germany.
Late 2021 or early 2022 somewhere around this time one of the screws on the mounting mechanism shreds itself, idk how most probably due to me living in a high humidity region rust and metal fatigue is common.i report this to bequiet they immediately got back to me and overnighted me from their hq in Germany free of charge brand new mounting brackets of all the platform the cooler ever supported.
Now at this point in time the cooler isn't even manufactured anymore and it's at the end of its lifecycle anyways almost 8-9 years since I purchased it but they still choose to send me all the mounting brackets. I was amazed at the level of support even after years, this is on par with Japanese watch manufacturers.

2023.06.06 16:56 TheSilverSmith47 Need help choosing parts for a high temperature heating solution.
Hi, electrical noob here. My goal is to create a self-regulating heating device that can heat a 24"x24"x36" chamber so that it maintains a temperature of up to 100 C.
I have a few questions that will be in bold. Could you guys help me choose parts so that I don't burn my house down? I'll list what I have so far. You guys let me know what needs to be changed and for what reason.
This is the basic setup I'll be following, though, I'll be changing the specific parts to suit my needs.
https://preview.redd.it/xell68h4ve4b1.png?width=542&format=png&auto=webp&s=789b4066cf727669e30b69c1d67d02bea13d253e The design I have in mind centers around this
PTC ceramic air heating element.
https://preview.redd.it/2t2100l7ve4b1.jpg?width=956&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0c068554554b7dd1438a7daa3039109e88f6940 It's advertised as 1000 Watts @ 110 VAC, which will hopefully be strong enough to meet my requirements. I chose not to go with the 1500 Watt version because it would pull something around 13.6 Amps, which I'm not comfortable with. I can't seem to find any other heating elements like this that come pre-wired and with aluminum radiator fins.
Does anyone have experience with this particular device? How reliable, safe, and effective is it? Also, what is that weird plug with the two wire connections at the top? Being from a less-than-reputable Amazon company, I'm hesitant about it's quality, but I can't find anything else like it.
Are there any other similar components with equal or greater performance, with UL certification, and from a reputable company? I'd appreciate recommendations.
The second component of my design is this
Selec TC513AX temperature controller.
It can run on 12VDC, or, more pertinently, 90VAC ~ 270VAC. This should allow me to connect the PTC heating element and this controller to the same power source without any issues. If the heating element runs at 1000 Watts and 110 Volts, then it should draw around 9.1 Amps. The TC513AX has a contact current rating of 10 Amps, which should hopefully be enough headroom.
From my understanding, the contact current rating refers to the amount of current that the relays in the controller can handle before failing. Is this correct? Although there is a solid state relay, it can only run on 12VDC. The electromechanical relays are the ones I would use since they are ЯU rated to handle 110VAC.
For safety reasons, the heating element would have to be wired to the normally open (NO) terminal on the controller's relay instead of the normally closed (NC) terminal. Otherwise a relay failure could cause the heating element to generate heat beyond what I set.
Would I have to program the controller to use the NO terminal? Or does the relay actuate both the NO and NC terminals simultaneously? There are a bunch of inexpensive temperature controllers on Amazon, like the STC-1000, but their quality seems to be rather dubious. I hesitate to trust the cheaper temperature controllers with 110V AC. Finding a ЯU or UL certified controller definitely helps alleviate concerns about quality.
Are my concerns about these uncertified Chinese temperature controllers warranted? To power everything, I decided to go with a simple
AC power cord from GlobTek.
https://preview.redd.it/eeffy9ncve4b1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38519edae3b39f9d3465975a07757a78c1347eea Since both the heating element and the controller run on 110VAC, I shouldn't need a transformer to step down the voltage. From my understanding, the US technically runs on 120VAC, but due to the ±10% allowable voltage difference,
there isn't much difference between 110VAC and 120VAC.
Therefore, directly plugging the controller and heating element into a 120VAC wall outlet via this cable should be safe. Is this correct? To keep things safe and consistent, I think it'd be best to use the same gauge of wire as this GlobTek cord when wiring the components together. Since, the cord is 18 AWG, I think I should use
this wire from Remington. It's rated to handle up to 300V, which is more than enough for this project. However, I'm uncertain as to how much current this wire can handle.
Does anyone know if this wire is sufficient for carrying the 9.1+ Amps that this system will likely consume? I was originally planning to go with their 150V wire, but oddly enough the 300V wire is less expensive. The 300V wire's 105 C temperature rating also exceeds the 150V wire's 80 C rating.
To split the current to the fan and heating element as shown in the diagram, I decided to use these
WAGO 221-685 connectors.
https://preview.redd.it/dgzpt29ive4b1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48d5faffc9e62fce1f91bc44c52081a2ccf7b9f7 According to their official website and the markings on the product, their 5 conductor operating lever splicing connectors are rated to handle up to 105 C, 440V, and 30 Amps, which meets my requirements. These products are also UL certified, so I think I should be able to trust their quality.
Originally, I wanted to buy one of the
assorted kits that are so common on Amazon, but the TDS shows that
these connectors only have a maximum operating temperature of 85 C. Unfortunately, unlike the normal connectors, the 221-685 connectors aren't commonly available in assorted kits at online retailers. So far, I've only found a handful of business-to-business shops that sell them given a quote. Digikey doesn't appear to have them in stock either.
Does anyone know of an online retailer that sells 221-685 connectors to private individuals? To circulate the hot air throughout the chamber, I chose to use this
ebmpapst 8506N fan.
https://preview.redd.it/81gurc9mve4b1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=056b4e9e0e86c49c7ebba6432e92eced877e7745 Like the other components, it's UL certified and runs on ~120VAC. I am concerned about the 22 AWG wires on this fan, but if it's been certified to be adequate, then I suppose its resistance must not be enough to warrant safety concerns. I should be able to splice it with an 18 AWG wire.
The next component is the temperature sensor. I chose to use a
B+B Thermo Technik GmbH K type thermocouple.
https://preview.redd.it/4olkktkpve4b1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=359be7c846146ec451a08bf5fc3ea1e30df2ade5 According to its TDS, the Selec TC513AX supports both Pt100 RTDs and K type thermocouples. I had trouble choosing between this $20 grounded thermocouple and an $11
Adafruit Pt100 RTD. Accuracy and response time were the two greatest factors to consider. In the end I chose to go with the grounded thermocouple because if the temperature in the chamber changes, I want the controller to be able to respond as fast as possible. Grounded thermocouples appear to be
twice as sensitive as Pt100 RTDs.
Honestly, I'm not too sure how much of an effect this will have.
Did I make the right choice? Which one would you prefer in your heated chamber? Why? The last part of this project is an enclosure. Since this is pretty much a custom solution, I'll have to design one myself. I'm fine with this because I like to think I'm pretty decent with CAD. My first enclosure version will be printed in PETG, and then I'll use the PETG version to print a Polycarbonate enclosure. The Polycarbonate enclosure version will be what I use for maintaining 100 C temperatures. If I find it insufficient, I'll upgrade the enclosure to a nylon version.
I can't find any adequate solutions for what I want to do. The closest I can find is this
PTC fan heater from DBK USA, but it isn't rated to handle 100 C.
Does anyone know if there are any inexpensive off-the-shelf solutions that will make my custom solution unnecessary? This pretty much concludes everything I have to ask for now. Please poke some holes in my plans so that I how to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.

2023.06.06 16:33 MightBeneficial3302 Predictmedix Inc. (CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF) Special Report
| Predictmedix – a great way to surf the Artificial Intelligence wave. https://preview.redd.it/ebltwtbjqe4b1.jpg?width=741&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0009582d4b19ac1bb9536165ec88b94b8359023 There is a saying attributed to Mark Twain that goes, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but if often rhymes.” This means circumstances might be different but similar events often recur. This is good because securities regulators demand that you make it clear that in the financial markets, “Past performance is no guarantee of future results.” However, investment analysts continue to use rhymes and here’s one that could help you see sizeable investment returns from Predictmedix Inc. (CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF). This is how the rhyme comes together: A. The 1990s technology boom: The parallel I see is between the current Artificial Intelligence cycle and the dot-com stock market cycle of ≈1990 to ≈ 2002. As background, the 1990s either developed or laid the groundwork for changes that completely transformed the world we live in. Out of that time came many new technologies and related developments and each was highly disruptive. Here is a very brief list of some of those developments: (1) Nokia was the first mass-produced cellphone offered in 1992 with the ability to send and receive phone calls as well as store data (e.g. phone numbers). (2) The World Wide Web, a.k.a. the Web browser was proposed in 1990 and debuted in 1991. This was the start of the Internet, Websites, e-mails and a massive amount of information that would become available to everyone. (3) With the explosion of data available, finding it became a challenge. Mosaic started as the first search engine in 1993 followed by Yahoo in 1994 and Google in 1998. Today, Google has risen to the top and become synonymous with an Internet search. Google it. (4) Other important developments of that time included the growth in the capacity of microprocessors, Photoshop, texting, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, realistic videogames for a more adult market, collecting and using DNA, the start of e-tailing and more. (5) Finally, we have the stock market. Cisco, Dell, Intel and Microsoft are sometimes referred to as the four horsemen of the 1990s tech boom. But we can’t ignore Apple and Google and there were many more that benefited. The smaller, new, Initial Public Offering companies came to the fore with incredibly high returns in the second half of the 1990s. The chart to the right shows how stock markets performed during the 1990’s high-tech boom. A few things are worth noting: (1) The Dot.Com stock market cycle lasted a long t time. Essentially, more than the decade of the 1990s. It’s length reflected the importance of the fundamental changes taking place. (2) There was an important development regarding the stock market that has become part of the stock market legend. On December 5, 1996, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan in a televised speech used the term “irrational exuberance” to describe a stock market that he thought was highly speculative and overvalued. His comment was intended as a warning from the Fed that the stock market, driven by the high-tech developments described above, was overvalued. His timing was five years early which is a lifetime in the stock market. (3) The five years after Greenspan’s “irrational exuberance” statement was the most profitable for investors of the entire ten years plus of the stock market cycle. As you sit reading this brief, imagine your life without a cell phone, the Internet, e-mail and text messages. How different would your life be without just these four products that emerged from the 1990s. A more relevant question might be how different would your life be if you had purchased shares in Apple or Cisco or Dell or Google or Microsoft back then? B. The Artificial Intelligence Boom (AI): The term Artificial Intelligence was created in 1955. The idea was to have a machine that could take data, and find patterns that would enable it to make predictions and reach conclusions (make decisions). The Oxford Dictionary defines AI as “The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.” It was Moore’s Law in 1975 that stated the capacity of semiconductors would continue to double every two years which enabled computers to be able to put into practice the AI Boom that is taking place today. Current forecasts say the AI industry will grow to $900 billion by 2026 and $15.7 trillion by 2030. AI growth in the 1920s could dwarf anything high-tech was able to accomplish in the 1990s. (1) There is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) boom going on and many people don’t yet realize it is even happening. AI is used in: i. Self-driving and parking cars. AI is used by Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Toyota and Volvo. ii. Maps and navigation. Enter where you are and where you want to go by car and Google Maps, for example, will give you a choice of routes, the time optimal route taking into account construction and traffic. iii. Facial detection or recognition. Facial detection identifies a human face or facial recognition that identifies a specific face that can be used for surveillance and security. iv. Digital assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, Google’s Now and Microsoft’s Cortana. When combined with search and recommendation AI, Alexa or Siri is able to learn your preferences and recommend things you are interested in. v. Customer service chatbots that answer frequently asked questions, track orders or direct calls. Often people will be unaware they are dealing with a machine. vi. Vehicle recognition use computer vision and deep learning to find a specific car on a surveillance video. vii. Robot vacuums can scan a living area, look for and remember objects in the way, remember the best route for cleaning the area and decide how many times it should repeat cleaning a specific area. It is estimated that by 2030, between 400 and 800 million jobs will be displaced by Artificial Intelligence and 375 million people will have to change to a totally different type of work. It is also forecast that it is not just lower-paying, blue-collar jobs that will be replaced by AI. Jobs such as accountants, lawyers, doctors, investment advisors and portfolio managers might all be substantially eliminated. AI will impact all industries and the rate of change will be exponential, that is, the rate of change will accelerate. For example, what does a doctor do? In general, a doctor gathers new information, refers to a patient’s medical history, refers to a medical book or today’s Internet, makes a diagnosis and provides s treatment. This is also what a lawyer does. AI might reach the point where it can do it faster and better than a human.. AI does present threats to human existence. As AI is changing exponentially, it will happen faster than the technology boom of the 1990s. It took technology 20 years to produce the changes we discussed above. AI could produce equivalent changes in 10 or 15 years. For example, ChatGPT, an AI product went from zero to 100 million users within months making it the fastest-growing consumer software product in history. There will be others. (2) The AI shift could drive economic change and a stock market cycle at least as significant as the last “dot.com” cycle. The “go-to” companies today for participation in AI are the likes of Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Meta (NASDAQ: META), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Oracle (NYSE: ORCL). These are very large companies. GOOGL has a market cap of $1.6 trillion, AMZN has a market cap of $1.2 trillion, META has a market cap of $$648 billion, MSFT has a market cap of $2.4 trillion, NCDA has a market cap of $963 billion and ORCL has a market cap of $282 billion. (3) While these are excellent businesses, they are also amongst the world’s largest companies. In 2022, GOOGL, META and MSFT purchased 2 out of every 3 AI chips. In my opinion, it is almost unthinkable that GOOGL can be a ten-bagger from a base market cap of $1.6 trillion or AMZN from $1.2 trillion. But it is clear these stocks now have a major component of their value derived from involvement in Artificial Intelligence and it is not surprising that early adopters would choose a lower risk/lower return approach to gain exposure to an emerging Artificial Intelligence industry. (4) The changes created by AI also carry some risks. The speed of change will be challenging to human beings. There are forecasts that say one in four workers globally will see their jobs disappear and one in eight workers will have to be retrained in a totally unrelated field. During the industrial revolution and the tech boom, there was always the promise of more and better jobs. With AI we may have reached the point where machines actually do replace workers. (5) Cathie Wood is a well-known and widely followed money manager with a reputation for expertise in the Artificial Intelligence sector. Wood manages a range of portfolios including the ARK Innovation Exchange Traded Fund (ARKK) and since its founding in 2014, Bloomberg estimates NDVA has contributed 13% of the fund’s 112% total return only behind Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, Invitae Corp and Tesla. That is all positive but Wood sold the ARKK holding in NVDA in January 2023 just before it rallied strongly adding some $560 billion to its market cap with $200 billion coming on one day after reporting earnings. Wood’s investors have basically missed the huge rally in the stock and the sector in 2023. (6) But there is another phase I would look for and that is the participation of smaller, retail investors. Whether it was in the tech cycle I discussed above, the “meme” stocks or commodity exploration and development cycles in the past, the retail investor buys in before the bull market ends. Market pundits such as Citi global asset allocation and Vanda Research make the same observation: where is the retail investor? We know the institutional investors have been getting in. So far in 2023 according to Bloomberg, the top 4% of stocks in the S&P 500 have contributed 94% of the index return and 8 of the top 20 include Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet Class A, NVIDIA, Alphabet Class C, Tesla and Meta. In other words, the top 2% of the stocks in the S&P 500 contributed 94% of the return. Through mid-May, if the AI stocks are omitted, the S&P Index would be down -1.4% instead of up +8.3%. All of these stocks are AI leaders and each of them is an institutional stock. Yet, I believe the retail investor will come into the market and when they do, it is stocks like PMED for which they have always had an appetite. C. I think investors will get more bang for their buck by investing in a small company like Predictmedix Inc. (CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF) with a total commitment to AI. From a base market cap of $16.6 million and, as I have pointed out in recent reports, many different business verticals to get them higher, I see PMED as a unique opportunity for aggressive growth investors. It is hard to imagine any decade having more of an impact on the ensuring socio-economic decades than the 1990s. Imagine your activities today without your cellphone, Internet, email and texting. I expect the cycle driven by AI to be a long one, similar to the dot-com cycle that lasted longer than the decade of the 1990s. To the right is a chart published by Luke Lango’s Hypergrowth Investing. It shows the stock market in the 1990s and overlays current results. The parallels Lango sees include: • Federal Reserve’s tight money policy slowed economic growth in 1990 as it is doing currently. • In 1990, the markets were down around 20% and in 2022 stocks dropped around 25%. • In late 1990, the Fed started reducing interest rates and the markets rebounded. • In late 2022, the Fed has turned less hawkish and into 2023 has slowed the pace of interest rate increases. The markets have been recovering. • In the early 1990’s, the dot-com stock market rally began and the market would advance generally higher for the rest of the decade and into the new millennium. • Today, it is Artificial Intelligence that is pushing stocks higher and given my expectations for AI, it could stock prices higher until at least 2030. Conclusion: I believe Predictmedix Inc. (CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF) is exceptionally well positioned to participate in the upcoming boom in Artificial Intelligence. There are many different ways to describe market cycles that evolve around such drivers. Here is mine: - Accumulation: the earliest buyers tend to be larger institutions that gain the information necessary to be early adopter. I have given several statistics to show this has been happening.
- Retail Participation/Speculation: as the story gains acceptance, less experienced investors enter the market and prices begin to rise more quickly. After two to three years of combined buying by large and small investors, it is possible to identify speculative activities such as very rapid increases in a stock price or underwritings of companies based on questionable valuations. This is the next phase I see ahead for the current AI cycle.
- Distribution/Sale: At some point, toward the end of the Retail Participation/Speculation phase, some investors will begin to sell. It is popular to believe that institutional investors or “smart money” sell at this stage. During the many years, I have spent in the investment business, this is not true. Institutions can hold on to their AI stocks for far too long and end up seeing their portfolios incinerated. This is still many years away. The challenge today with a stock like PMED is not getting out; it is getting in.
- Bear Market: eventually there will be a broad sell-off of AI stocks. Some institutions will sell without regard for their impact on the market. Margin buyers will get margin calls and may be forced to sell again without regard to price. At this time, over half of the AI companies trading at that time will simply disappear. Some will be successful but remain smaller. Some will merge with another AI company. Some will be acquired. Very few will survive and become leaders in the industries. They will become the Alphabets, Amazons, Metas, Microsofts, Nvidias, and Oracles of the 2040s and 2050s.
I started out with the quote “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” So I don’t think the AI cycle of the 2020s will be the same as the high-tech cycle of the 1990s but I think it will be similar. If you agree, Predictmedix Inc. (CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF) is a stock to buy for your portfolio. submitted by MightBeneficial3302 to CanadianStocks [link] [comments] |

(CSE: PMED, OTCQB: PMEDF) is a stock to buy for your portfolio. submitted by MightBeneficial3302 to OTCstockradar [link] [comments] |
2023.06.06 16:24 SpotSad5285 Lost in the Labyrinth.
Once upon a time, there was a small, quiet town nestled deep in the woods. The town, called Hemlock Hollow, was known for its picturesque beauty, but little did anyone know, there was a dark and sinister secret lurking beneath the surface.
It all started when a group of campers went missing in the woods surrounding the town. Despite an intense search, no trace of the campers was ever found. Rumors started to circulate that something horrible had happened to them, but the townspeople refused to believe it.
Soon after, strange occurrences began to happen around the town. People reported hearing strange noises in the woods, and shadows lurked in the corners of their eyes. Some even claimed they saw ghostly apparitions floating through the town.
Meanwhile, a young reporter named Sarah was assigned to investigate the disappearances. She arrived in Hemlock Hollow, determined to uncover the truth behind the town's dark history. As she delved deeper into the case, she began to uncover a tangled web of lies, cover-ups, and secrets that the townspeople had been hiding for years.
One night, Sarah was doing research in the town library when she came across an old journal written by a man named Samuel Hargrave. It detailed his descent into madness after he and his family had moved to Hemlock Hollow in the late 1800s. Samuel's family had been part of a cult that worshipped a dark entity known only as "the Master."
At first, Samuel was skeptical of the cult's teachings, but soon he became obsessed with the Master and began participating in their twisted rituals. It wasn't long before he realized the horrifying truth: the Master demanded human sacrifices.
Terrified by the realization, Samuel attempted to leave the cult and flee the town with his family, but it was too late. The other members of the cult had discovered their attempt to escape and hunted them down. Samuel was the only one to survive, and he fled into the woods, where he lived out the rest of his life in solitude.
The journal ended abruptly, and Sarah realized with horror that the cult was still active in Hemlock Hollow. She knew that she needed to leave the town and report her findings to the authorities, but she soon discovered that the townspeople were not going to let her leave alive.
They had been watching her every move and knew that she was getting too close to the truth. Sarah found herself hunted and chased through the dark, winding woods surrounding Hemlock Hollow. At every turn, she was met with terrifying images and noises, the likes of which she could barely comprehend.
As the night wore on, Sarah found herself trapped in a small cabin, surrounded by the cult members who were intent on sacrificing her to the Master. She fought back with all her strength, but it was no use. They overpowered her and began chanting in a language she couldn't understand.
With a sudden burst of strength, Sarah broke free from her bindings and fled into the woods. She ran until she couldn't run any longer, her heart pounding in her chest. She eventually collapsed, exhausted, and saw, through her half-closed eyes, a figure walking towards her. Sarah recognized it as Samuel Hargrave himself, who had been awakened from the dead to protect her from the cult members' attacks.
Samuel helped Sarah to her feet and led her to the outskirts of the town, where they came across an old, abandoned factory. The haunting sounds of the cult members' chants could be heard in the background as Samuel pushed a hidden button on the factory's door, which opened an underground passage.
The two of them descended down into the dark, musty tunnels, using a flashlight to guide their way. Samuel explained that the passages had been built by his family, originally designed to hide from the cult members, but the tunnels had become corrupted by the Master's influence. The tunnels had become a labyrinth of horrors and terrors, a place where the cult would come to offer sacrifices to their dark lord.
As they ventured deeper into the tunnels, they came across a series of rooms, each filled with gruesome trinkets and artifacts. The air grew colder, and the smell of death filled their nostrils. There were human skeletons and carcasses hanging from the walls, rows of jars filled with unidentifiable body parts, and makeshift altars built around candles and skulls.
Sarah and Samuel eventually made it to the central chamber, where the Master's presence was strongest. The chamber was lit up with a strange, flickering light, and the smell of sulfur filled the air. In the center of the chamber was a large altar, and on top of it, a large, dark shape was slowly taking form.
As Sarah and Samuel watched in horror, the shape began to take on a humanoid form, and a voice echoed throughout the chamber. "Who dares to enter my domain?" the voice boomed.
Samuel stepped forward and helped Sarah up to her feet. "I offer myself as a sacrifice," he said. "In exchange, spare the life of this innocent."
The Master laughed a deep, guttural laugh. "Very well," it said. "Your sacrifice has been accepted. But remember, the next time our paths cross, I will expect another offering."
Samuel nodded, then stepped back, ready to meet his fate. The Master's form grew larger and darker, until it consumed Samuel. The Master then vanished into thin air, leaving Sarah alone in the dark chamber.
She stumbled her way out of the tunnels and into the woods, where she collapsed once again, feeling a mix of relief and shock. Her mind raced with the horrors she had witnessed in Hemlock Hollow, and she knew that she could never fully escape the memory of what she had seen.
From that day on, Sarah vowed never to return to Hemlock Hollow again. The town, with its dark secrets and sinister past, would remain a haunting memory, a nightmare that would never truly leave her.

2023.06.06 16:11 autotldr Adulterated cider has killed 30 in Russia, dozens more sick - local officials
This is the best tl;dr I could make,
original reduced by 28%. (I'm a bot)
MOSCOW, June 6 - Thirty people have died in western Russia in the last few days after drinking adulterated cider and dozens more have fallen ill, local officials said on Tuesday.
The health department of Ulyanovsk region, where the first cases were reported, said 20 people had died there after drinking the cider, branded as "Mister Cider".
Dozens more people were reported to be sick in several regions after consuming the cider.
Local media reported that the cider contained lethal amounts of methanol, also known as methyl alcohol or wood alcohol and much more toxic than the ethanol found in regular alcoholic drinks.
Russia tightened controls on the production and sale of alcohol after 77 people died drinking cheap moonshine in Siberia in 2016, but the consumption of homemade alcohol remains a problem.
Twenty-nine people died in a single incident in 2021 after consuming locally produced spirits containing methanol.

2023.06.06 15:52 Dramatic-Surprise251 10+ years of chronic health issues solved but still struggling with moving on
I’m 27. When I was 13/14, I started having weird throat issues all the time. It felt like my throat had a lot of pressure in it, like a weird tension feeling, and the only thing that helped was when I ate/drank something or swallowed. This would help then it would come back a few minutes or so later. I had weird issues swallowing saliva too. I saw an ear nose & throat doctor about this and was told my issue was acid reflux. Doctor prescribed reflux medication and told me to sleep on an incline. I did those things for a while, but it didn’t help. Supposedly I was treating the issue and the doctor didn’t know why I wasn’t improving but told me to continue doing what I was doing to supposedly treat it. I saw some other doctors that weren’t sure either. I pretty much learned to just live like that but it was annoying and started to take over my life to the point that every day revolved around coping with my throat and dealing with the bad anxiety it was causing. I used to avoid things, had no life, had to make sure I always had something to drink to help my throat, and felt really stressed about the whole thing and how it was affecting me. On a side note, I also used to breathe mostly through my mouth as well. No one really knew, but I was really miserable all the time because of this stuff.
At 15, I started to feel like a brain fog on top of the throat issues. Something I’d never felt before. It was like my brain felt like mush all the time, no matter how much sleep I got. Like that feeling when you sleep really bad for a couple nights and feel like crap, except I was sleeping enough. Felt kind of spaced out constantly, couldn’t concentrate as well, I never wanted to do anything, felt apathetic, and just kind of crappy all the time. Wasn’t severe but was definitely impacting my day to day life. I went back to seeing doctors. Lots of doctors said there was nothing medically wrong with me and some even said that the brain fog (and maybe even the throat issues) were all psychological. I didn’t feel like that was it because my symptoms felt so real and physical but what did I know. I was prescribed antidepressants and doctors recommended I see a therapist for bad anxiety issues. I spent the next couple of years trying multiple medications, seeing therapists, and making other changes but nothing helped. I thought I was going crazy. In those few years that passed, I had slowly started to feel worse. By the time I graduated high school, the constant mental fog and tiredness were affecting me pretty bad. I felt stressed and anxious nonstop. I had almost no life during high school because of it and did just the bare minimum to get by. With lots of doctors telling me there was nothing physically wrong with me, I started to believe them about it being all mental. I thought it was something I was doing wrong personally. At this point I wasn’t even talking to my family about it as much since supposedly there was nothing wrong and it was all in my head. Especially when doctor after doctor were saying nothing was wrong and because my symptoms were mostly feeling tired all the time, what was I supposed to say? It felt like it was my personal fault for feeling the way I did. Everyone gave me the impression that my issues were because of me and I just needed to change my mindset and lifestyle and I’d feel better. Positive thinking, anxiety workbooks, deep breathing, more sleep, take antidepressants, therapy. I did every single thing doctors and therapists told me to do, but nothing helped. Doctors and therapists made me question my sanity every day. It was hell.
I was in no shape to go to college out of state, but I did. I ended up going because supposedly there was nothing wrong with me and I was trying desperately to believe it was all in my head like doctors and therapists and my family were saying. I just needed to change my way of thinking and lifestyle and that would cure the constant brain fog and tiredness and throat issues. So I pushed myself to go, hoping I’d sort it out. I spent the next 4 years slowly feeling worse, still seeing doctors but getting no legit answers. I'd go months and months at a time without seeing a doctor as I didn't know where to turn and had given up at times. I saw a doctor about sleep apnea but didn't seem to fit almost any of the symptoms. Stuff like waking up trying to get air, choking, stopping breathing, snoring, wasn't overweight, wasn't unhealthy, didn’t have a family history of it or other health issues. Still, I tried one of those moldable mouthpieces that’s supposed to help with sleep apnea but didn't see any benefit from it. So with all of this, I figured it’s probably not sleep apnea. I was so desperate, I was constantly trying all sorts of medications, supplements, and other weird things to try and help myself. I felt like I was losing my damn mind. My mental health was horrendous. Felt like crap 24/7. I literally felt stupid because my brain wasn’t working. Dealing with symptoms and figuring out what was wrong with me consumed my entire life. I would occasionally go to class after taking a big dose of stimulant drugs, but even those only did so much. No amount of caffeine pills, energy drinks did anything either. I was beyond that stuff helping. I experienced almost nothing enjoyable in those 4 years of college and had basically no life, really no friends, hobbies, nothing. Really the only experience I had during college was when I went on a study abroad trip but it was hell because I felt so awful the whole time. I had also joined a fraternity in the beginning of college but did almost nothing with them for the same reason. The mental tiredness had gotten so bad it felt like I was disconnected and living in a dream. Like I felt kind of drunk. I was so mentally and emotionally numb and exhausted I didn’t even feel human. Like I physically could not feel emotions and felt super spaced out. I was also still dealing with the throat issues. I’d get random dizziness, my vision got worse like being more sensitive to bright light and bad floaters in my eyes, almost no libido. I somehow managed to graduate college and finished feeling significantly worse than when I began. I was so miserable and had no one to talk to about what was going on. But I was at least glad that college was over, because it sucked horribly.
I spent the next year doing just the bare minimum to get by. About a year after college (2019), I had a sleep study done and results came back with moderate sleep apnea. For the first time I actually had an answer. Sleep doctor immediately prescribed a CPAP machine. Didn’t even bother to wonder why a young healthy person has sleep apnea to begin with, because it’s not normal. I spent the next 2ish years trying multiple machines, masks, changing all the settings, but only saw some improvement. Keeping the CPAP consistently on throughout the night was also a struggle in itself as it was super awkward and uncomfortable, even though I was desperately trying to make it work. When I was able to keep it on for 5+ hours a night I felt a bit better but it was really difficult to do so consistently. During this time I couldn’t really hold down a job, other than some really basic, short term jobs. And even those felt brutal. My relationships with everyone were affected pretty bad. I was a complete zombie because the tiredness was so overwhelming. It was as an amount of brain fog and exhaustion I didn’t know was humanly possible. I was making myself basically sick with stimulants that really weren't helping and even had a doctor at one point tell me that I should get genetic testing for depression or have my brain zapped with electric shocks. I luckily didn't go that route.
After two years of messing with machines, my sleep doctor then recommended I see a maxillofacial doctor to see what the underlying breathing issue was being caused by. The doctor recommended I get a custom mouthpiece made that shifts the lower jaw forward to help open the airway to prevent breathing issues while sleeping. The process of having it fitted and made took a couple months. I even took a “real” job during this same time because I had two different doctors telling me that this mouthpiece was likely to help me a lot. I felt like I couldn’t have gotten the mouthpiece fast enough. I ended up messing with the mouthpiece for months and had no benefit at all. Literally zero. The dentist who made the mouthpiece said that the mouthpiece wasn’t helping because I might just have “weak muscle tone” in my throat and that I should see someone called a myofunctional doctor to supposedly improve muscle tone in the throat and tongue. I looked into that and it seemed like total quack stuff so I didn’t do it and completely dropped that dentist that made my mouthpiece and suggested this. I then saw an ear nose and throat doctor and later did a sleep endoscopy with him where I was put to sleep and had my breathing monitored with a camera down my throat. The doctor said that my breathing issues were being caused by my throat and jaw and suggested that since the mouthpiece wasn’t helping, I could get surgery or have a device called Inspire surgically inserted into my chest and neck to artificially help breathing. I held off on that cause it sounded pretty extreme and thought there had to be something else. During this time I had to leave the job I should’ve never taken in the first place because I was so non-functional.
I pretty much gave up for months. I eventually scheduled an appointment with another ear nose & throat doctor (the same kind of doctor I saw when I was 13). I'd already seen many ear nose & throat doctors by this point but didn't know what else to do. Don’t remember how exactly it happened, but the connection was made that my issues were due to really abnormal nasal breathing. Something called nasal valve stenosis, where both sides of my nose were completely caving in and blocking most air, leading to crappy breathing, even when just breathing in lightly. This issue is worse during sleep and was causing my brain to “wake up” every time my nose had the obstruction. So I was struggling to breathe all night and I was slowly feeling worse as I was never getting good deep sleep. So the bad sleep every night just kept accumulating over the course of 10+ years. He also explained that my throat issues were a sign that my nose wasn’t functioning normally, which was causing airflow issues and a throat pressure feeling as a result. But weirdly the nasal issues weren’t being caused by my nose itself. There’s nothing actually wrong with my nose. It’s the middle part of the face that provides the base and support for the nose that is lacking the support needed to keep the nose open for normal breathing. Doctor said it’s really abnormal for nasal collapse to happen like this as a result of the face just not developing properly. It was just the way the middle of my face grew and changed over time, especially during puberty, that led to this. Doctor said it is called midface deficiency. It’s the area of the face just to the sides of the nose, below the eyes. Doctor said facial surgery is really what I needed but said nasal surgery could potentially help a bit and is less intense of a surgery, so I decided to go with that. Prior to the surgery the doctor had me wear a dilator in my nose at night to keep it open which helped immensely. Everything finally made sense for the first time ever. I even recorded my sleep and sure enough I could hear myself struggling to breathe all night.
Last year (2022), I had nasal valve surgery. It took a long time to recover from surgery and I still have to wear something in my nose when I sleep to prevent it from pinching shut as the surgery only helped a bit. I will still have to look into facial surgery to address the underlying issue as my breathing is still not great during the day when I’m not wearing a dilator in my nose but at night I wear it and am good. Over time most of my issues have gone away. The slowly worsening constant exhaustion and brain fog and cognitive issues that started when I was a teenager. The severe anxiety and stress feelings I had since I was a kid. Throat issues gone. It was that obvious all along but untreated made my life constant torture to no end. Feeling horrible nonstop, slowly getting worse, not knowing why, being told there was nothing wrong with me and that it was all psychological, trying all sorts of things with no benefit, and having my entire life be ruined was a mental hell I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I don’t feel like my teens and most my 20s actually happened because I was in such poor health physically and mentally 24/7. I wish I had been able to see decent doctors earlier, but obviously that didn’t happen. I’m not even sure how I wasn’t able to make the connection myself. I think I was just so used to really bad breathing since I was young I didn’t know it was abnormal and had no reason to think I had some weird issue. I still struggle with the mental effects of I think living like this for so long. The depression and anger about it all. The why did I have to have this weird specific issue that destroyed and stole my life, why couldn't doctors have helped me sooner like that very first ENT doctor I saw at 13, why couldn't it have been any other identifiable health issue, etc. It's surreal to even think about how my life has been for so long. These issues consumed everything for more than 10 years so I guess it’s not surprising that it still affects me mentally even after the fact. Thanks for reading and hopefully this can help someone out there.
Here's photos of my nose just breathing in slightly deeper than normal. It's only slightly better following surgery:

2023.06.06 15:44 grepixinfotech The Future of Transportation: A Look Into the Growth of Ridesharing Apps
| The Future of Transportation: A Look Into the Growth of Ridesharing Apps The transportation industry is rapidly evolving, and ridesharing apps have been at the forefront of this revolution. With the rise of companies like Uber and Lyft, the way people move around cities has fundamentally changed. Ridesharing app have disrupted traditional taxi services, providing convenient and affordable transportation options for millions of people around the world. But this is just the beginning. Experts predict that the growth of ridesharing apps will continue to skyrocket in the coming years, as more and more people opt for these services over car ownership. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the future of transportation and explore the various ways in which ridesharing apps are transforming the way we get around. From the impact of traffic congestion to the potential for autonomous vehicles, the future of ridesharing is an exciting and ever-evolving topic that is sure to shape the way we live and work in the years to come. The Need for Ridesharing Apps in Today's Transportation Landscape The need for ridesharing apps has become increasingly apparent in today's transportation landscape. With the increasing traffic congestion in cities, the need for alternative transportation options has become more pressing. Ridesharing apps provide a convenient and efficient way to get around, especially in urban settings where parking can be difficult to find. Ridesharing apps have also become a popular option for travelers and commuters. These apps provide a cost-effective alternative to taxis and rental cars. Ridesharing apps like Uber Clone and Lyft have made it easier for people to get around without the hassle of owning a car. In addition, these apps offer a level of convenience that traditional taxi services cannot match. Ridesharing apps have also created new opportunities for people to earn extra income. With the rise of the gig economy, many people are turning to ridesharing as a way to supplement their income. This has created new job opportunities for people who may not have had access to traditional employment options. Ridesharing App Statistics and Growth Projections Ridesharing App Statistics and Growth Projections The growth of ridesharing apps has been nothing short of impressive. According to Statista, the global ridesharing market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 22.3% from 2020 to 2027. The market is expected to reach $218.0 billion by 2025, up from $36.4 billion in 2017. In the United States alone, the number of people using ridesharing apps has increased significantly. According to the new Research Center, 36% of Americans have used a ridesharing app, while 15% use these services every week. These statistics demonstrate the growing popularity of ridesharing apps and their potential for continued growth in the future. Advantages of Using Ridesharing Apps Ridesharing apps offer several advantages over traditional transportation options. One of the main advantages is convenience. With ridesharing apps, users can request a ride with just a few taps on their smartphone. This eliminates the need to hail a taxi or wait for public transportation. Another advantage of ridesharing apps is cost-effectiveness. Ridesharing apps are often cheaper than traditional taxi services, and they offer a level of transparency when it comes to pricing. Users can see the cost of their ride upfront, which eliminates the need for haggling or negotiating with drivers. Ridesharing apps also offer a level of safety and security that traditional taxi services may not provide. With ridesharing apps, users can track their rides in real-time and share their ride status with friends and family. This provides an added layer of security for users, especially when traveling alone. Disadvantages of Using Ridesharing Apps While there are several advantages to using ridesharing apps, there are also some disadvantages to consider. One of the main disadvantages is the potential for surge pricing. During peak times, ridesharing apps may charge higher prices due to increased demand. This can make rides more expensive than traditional taxi services. Another disadvantage of ridesharing apps is the potential for safety concerns. 2023.06.06 15:42 autotldr After El Salvador, Honduras's Own Gang Crackdown Is Stumbling
This is the best tl;dr I could make,
original reduced by 85%. (I'm a bot)
The state of exception in Honduras has now been in place for six months.
According to the National Police, the state of exception "Has enabled the capture of more than a hundred members of criminal groups connected to gangs." They also said that the decrease in the homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants last year was the greatest in nearly two decades, with "a homicide index of 24% less than in 2022.".
In Choloma, a municipality of San Pedro Sula, which has a strong organized crime presence, people feel safer thanks to the state of exception, said Lourdes Reyes, a member of a local neighborhood community board.
The incongruities between data from the police and the report have created doubt around how effective the state of exception has actually been in the fight against organized crime, and suggest that the government lacks clear, tactical, and comprehensive strategies for reducing violence and insecurity.
Castro's approach has been compared to that of President Nayib Bukele, who has managed to reduce the high crime and homicide rates in El Salvador through an extended state of exception that began in March 2022.
The state of exception in Honduras has done little to detain the gangs that extort the transport sector.
