Hey, I have two degrees in Medical Genomics. I did a fair junk of coding in python for my masters. Then I used python a good bit since. After graduating, I worked for a large laboratory where it was my job to oversee all the liquid handler robots in the lab. Through this, I learnt a ton about coding, databases, servers and looking after our computing software.
I now work as an automation engineer. Writing the code for liquid handlers. However a large junk of my job is to oversee the automation processes in my company. I've learnt a ton about a lot of DevOp tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, etc. And it's really opened my eyes to the world of Devops. But as a person with no formal IT qualifications, what would be my best way to land a job as a DevOp. I've got experience with these tools in my current job - but it kind feels like I'm just saying 'trust me, I know DevOps' whenever I send my CV off to companies.

Just some context on if this is a “glitch” or not.
Glitches happen when bad code is written that causes inaccurate information or an error to be thrown.
In this case, the $5 and $10 is hard coded in every order. Which means, they are specifically writing code to manipulate the tips instead of passing through the customers tips, hence “drivers keep 100% of the tips”. This should not be a place where a lot of code would need to be written.
The only glitch here is Walmart is going to hide final total from now on and the actual glitch is it made it to production before they expected it to.
Walmart is trying to get you to take no tip orders essentially making you work for less and manipulating you into taking 100% of orders. We have no way of knowing if we are getting 100% of tips. Walmart has code specifically written to manipulate what we see or get in this area. So there is with 100% certainty they are stealing tips.

This probably happened between 2016-2017. I was in my junior of high school because we had an in-ground hot tub built into our house next to our pool. It was around maybe midnight. I wanted to go for a dip cause why not.
Well, vibing, I looked up and saw flying over me an L-shaped object silently floating over me; I just casually watched as it flew over. I just looked at it, went oh well, and went back to vibing. Justfloridathings.mp4
Now looking back at supernatural shit during my life, I try to scooby doo mystery gang shit to see whether what I witnessed was an actual encounter or some other shit, say, for instance, the time I was trapped in a time loop as a kid, likely either a hallucination based off my inability to produce melatonin and combined with OCD likely caused toddler me to relive an experience as I did (The first time I went to a real movie theater.)
So using this deductive reasoning, I look back, questioning what I saw, knocking out the first and foremost, no, it was not a hallucination; I've never had a hallucination because of any of the factors that night; the sleep meds I took didn't do it, maybe the hot tub steam but if that were the case I'd be having more encounters like this, as one I was completely lucid during this event.
Thinking about it could've been a bunch of drones carrying something, but because of how close it was and how many drones would be needed, there would be a shit ton of sound, and the way it was shaped couldn't have been a balloon as it didn't tilt despite being asymmetrical.
Looking back at the design of the craft, it looked again like an L, but what was odd other than the literal giant L floating over me was what was on the bottom of the craft, a bunch of panels that looked like they were welded to it or attached to it, I could make them out because the surface was a metallic grey like an unpainted aircraft, either this was just part of the construction, maybe anti grav motors, looking back at it with knowledge of IT tech studies maybe they were external heat sinks for the craft, or possible option three it was patchwork for the craft, maybe the aliens were welding panels over bullet holes or something, (this is Florida, even our extra-terrestrials can't have shit.)
One issue with this, however, is that were right next to Two Airforce bases; if there was ever a perfect excuse for bored Airforce pilots to go to XCOM on some greys, this would be it, so either A or it was Ayys that got the All clear, ( they wanted to go to the earthling's mall to get a new fit.) or Option B my more interesting Idea, the Airforce themselves piloted it, that or not even Aliens are immune to becoming Florida men.
Again we live right next to two Air force bases and they go and do all sorts of tests with jet craft. Back around the spring of 2019 well walking back from Taco Bell; I looked up and saw them flying a Blackbird overhead well stuff was falling from space and a bunch of Helicopters flew around. potentially the Blackbird was there in case of some debris from maybe a Nasa shuttle getting launched, and they needed a fast aircraft there to blast any large chunks to pieces {FYI, I'm not Strategists and this is me guessing,} in all likelihood it was probably just two unrelated events, of course, my reaction to seeing stuff falling from space and the Airforce doing military shit was to blast the song Transformers by Black lab, from my cellphone.)
But the reason I bring up military exercises is the possibility it was the Airforce testing a new stealth craft or hovercraft, and I was just there to witness it; maybe the metal patches were to seal holes in the hull of the craft created by AA fire And then piecing it back together from other UFOs they dropped like Pheasants or could be it wasn't alien in any way. And in all likely hood, the Airforce was running flight tests on a prototype, and that's why it looked so hodgepodge as it did; if anything, the sheer fact I haven't died of radiation poisoning from that thing flying over me means there making progress.)
As to why the military would be flying an L-shaped hovercraft, who knows with the shorter part of the L is where the person resides as the motor takes up the entire craft, or The military is planning on flying a bunch of Letter-shaped craft over our enemies in formation to write out shitposts or copypastas.

However, and I know you're saying the same thing, why would they fly a classified aircraft over a tourist town? It's quite simple it's out of season. This was in the winter months meaning all the tourists had left, and because it wasn't anywhere around, the holidays meant no snowbirds. And the greatest smoke screen of them all. This was at night in Florida; who's going to believe you saw something in the sky? Everyone out that late is either, High, drunk, or both. I wouldn't be surprised for this exact reason, Area 51 is built next to Las Vegas, or Las Vegas was built next to Area 51. Anyone who sees something will get written off as a drunk or on some shit, literally, the perfect cover-up. Who needs a Neuralyzer when the witnesses are all drinking the OG version.
I wanted to post this here cause I want to tell my tale, I'm also disappointed the Aliens didn't land, though I didn't drink at the time I had a perfectly good hot tub and a fridge full of booze and snacks.

I have had Ellipal for a few days, and I don't understand how the cold wallet matters, I was able to make all my transfers from exchanges to the app (hot wallet) by using the app generated codes, and given the air gap, the wallet doesn't know anything that I have done, so how is this really a cols wallet, I would assume there would be another step to generate a code in the app to scan i to the wallet, or something...

what are the reasons a PC might have fans turning on but not have a display output?
my dell t3600 i put together doesn't give display output, with a GTX 1050 in it. tried doing stuff with the battery and ram but none of it fixes the problem. power button is white, no error codes and the fans run fine, however after first startup when turning on the PSU, it turns off then turns back on after a bit.
GTX 1050 has been tested by myself this month and had new thermal paste added. Monitor bounces back and forth from Analogue to HDMI

Dad bod though I do try to work out and sometimes I successfully convince myself to eat a salad. I like to read, I listen to podcasts (NPAD, cortex, smartless, I am also up to suggestions). I like the outdoors, I'd honestly rather be camping, hiking and fishing but that doesn't seem to be inline with my mortgage company's financial goals.

After our great turn out for our Cross-Play Insider Session, we wanted to look at common questions and speak to important topics that we’ve seen emerge. Community team sat down with the team to discuss a few of these topics.
Q. At the start of the test there was an issue where players were unable to connect immediately. What happened there and how did it impact the test?
A.
It was quite a “fun start” to the Session, for the servers not to be working there for the few minutes. The team was able to quickly identify and resolve the issue, which is what got people going into matches after the initial delay. However, once it was fixed the servers were flooded with players wanting to be matched. The flooding caused the server to try and make matches as fast as it could. This effect caused some residual issues on matches for the first day, where matches were hosted on servers that came up first and not necessarily what was best for geolocation.
For our next test, the issue should be resolved, and we learned a lot from the experience overall that will us improve deployment in the future.

Q. We also know that the hit registration is immensely important when it comes to competitive first-person shooters. One of our public known issues is about the desync issues and how it impacts hit registration. What does the future look like for this topic?
A.
We know “hit registration”, “lag”, and “dying behind cover” have been very important topics during Insider Sessions for our players. Competitive shooters live by the second- where low latency and synchronization are important to a great experience.
In Insider Sessions so far, including the Cross-Play Session, we’ve been using an incomplete version of our net code to help test and get feedback from players. While these tests were underway, we’ve been actively working on an improved system that is now almost ready for the public.

Latency & Hit Registration

Our upcoming improved system has some key changes:
These two changes, reduced internal latency and increased synchronization, will make hit registration better and vastly alleviate the feeling of dying behind walls or cover.
*Keep in mind also that some latency during the Insider Sessions Cross-play was due to the server issues we had at the start of the test which cause strong lag. As mentioned in its question, this also has been resolved.

Netcode

We’re also improving how our Netcode handles information:
When it comes to tick rate, we are already tracking when a player shoots and jumps at sub-tick level. Due to this extra timing information your shot can end up in an earlier server frame than it would have in a traditional frame-based system. In our next update we plan to further improve this by processing player shots in time order within the server frames to refine who won the draw.

The Future

The work is complete from a development perspective and is now undergoing reliability testing and refinement. We have not seen major issues with it, but we want to take time and make sure we get this right. Due to this, it won’t be in the next test you get to play as we finish its QA (Quality Assurance) pass. However, the release of the new version will be ready soon after. Thank you for everyone’s patience on this. The quality of experience we can provide is our priority on XDefiant, and so, networking is something we’ll always make continual improvements on.

Q. We saw some technical crashes on Xbox that we communicated about on Twitter. We were unable to resolve it during the test, but what is the current progress of this issue?
A.
We were really bummed that we couldn't get the Xbox issues corrected during the ISC. It turned out to be a somewhat silly but tricky issue to track down.
We had a crash before the test went live, but it seemed it wasn't happening on DevKits (development version of consoles). It was only happening on Retail kits (normal versions of a console) that had played an earlier version of the build. So, if those players made new accounts then they wouldn't get the crash.
We thought that crash was fine to worry about later because no one who would be playing in the ISC would have ever played a previous build. Well, it turns out that what we thought was the problem wasn't actually the problem even though testing reinforced that theory.
The actual issue was that it had to do with the number of friends you had in your friend list. Specifically, with downloading all the player icons from Xbox Live. The reason we weren't getting this crash on DevKits (which would have told us exactly what the issue was) was that our devkits didn't have enough friends on them to cause the crash. For the next test we will have a band-aid fix that just stops the game from downloading the player icons, but we will have that actually fixed once the game goes live.

Q. One issue we saw reported during the ISC was that cross-platform party invites was not working during ISC. What improvements can we hope for in the next test?
A.
We really wanted players to have the ability to party up together no matter their platform of choice for the last Insider Session, and not having this feature which is so critical to a game like XDefiant was a real blow for us. When the cause was being originally investigated during the session it was estimated that it was likely how it was configured in the backend that was preventing the connections from happening. An 'easy' fix we thought but as a team we decided it was just too risky to try and fix while the game was live for everyone.
That decision really paid off in the end. That fix that we thought would be easy ended up being pretty complicated to fix and took quite a many teams to work on to resolve. For the next test ahead, even though there might be some cases of notification inconsistencies, you should be able to create parties across platforms, and we hope you do!

Q. Another large topic was how the controller experience felt and how aim assist impacted it. What is the team’s thoughts on both controller settings and aim assist coming out of the Cross-Play Insider Session

We received a ton of great feedback regarding controller gameplay. A top priority for us is making sure that entire experience is seamless across all platforms. Our focus is being on par with what you’d expect from any other AAA FPS. We want our default settings to feel completely natural to first time users, but also have the needed settings to allow for complete customization so any player could narrow in on their specific preferences. We’ve recently made some improvements and it will remain a top priority as we get closer to launch.
As for aim assist, this will always be a divisive topic. Where we do intend to have preferred input-based matchmaking, we still want this experience to feel fair for all players, on all platforms. We want to avoid making aim assist too strong, but we are actively trying to find that sweet spot. We’ve made some adjustments to address some of the feedback and bugs from IS Crossplay and we won’t stop there. We reviewed feedback very closely around this topic and will do so again during the next test so please keep it coming!

Q. Our community loves talking about the different factions, and it may come as no surprise, that the community thought Libertad was a dominant force during the ISC. How do we feel about Libertad during the test, and what do we see coming down the road for the faction?

During ISC a lot of players provided feedback on the Libertad faction being too strong. It was also confirmed by the data we gathered in that same session. As a result, we implemented changes on the two features we think were causing this balance issue.
  1. Fixing the passive healing trait During the Insider Session Cross-play, the passive healing trait was not working as intended and overall was giving an extra boost to the faction. We are currently addressing the issues with it, and in the next test players can expect an updated version.
  2. Nerfing Biovida Boost (most used Libertad ability) as described below.

PhD, left a tenure track position in CS to work in biotech doing algorithms and ML a while ago. Company is fine overall and weathering the past year well, but this year I went to a conference on machine learning where there were lots of openings in finance.
Because it was an ML conference, the positions were mostly of an ML flavor. I don't really care what area I'm in, just that I'd be getting to do algorithms or high-performance stuff (could be ML, etc.). I spoke to people from Citadel, Jane Street, HRT, and a couple others. I liked something in the culture of it. It reminded me more of talking with mathematicians.
There are a few jobs that would fit my interest, including machine learning, algorithms, C++, etc. Is there an application process that would let the company pair me with their best needs there? Or should I just put it in my cover letter and apply for multiple positions at each firm?
Second, how do you decide the companies where you'd apply? Other than employee satisfaction and compensation on Glassdoor, it seems my general interest is a challenge here as well.
Third, I know that big tech has laid off several people this year, which I'd assume will create downward pressure on wages in areas of my interest. My current employment is stable. Should I wait until Q3 or Q4?

My goal is that a player presses a button on a GUI, and a decal in a part changes it's texture. For one of the two decals, it works perfectly, but in the other one, it doesn't, although the scripts are almost identical. I even put a print to check if that part of the code is working, and it even prints what I want it to. Here is a part of my script, and the first if-statement won't work, whilst the second one works perfectly. (The Remote event comes from a mousebutton1click event in a client)

No matter how much hate or negative market conditions Bitcoin receives it doesn’t change that it produces a certain amount of coins based on computing power, it has a set limit of coins, and it’s can’t be stopped with a law. All of which are attractive aspects of Bitcoin which is why there is so much belief in the future of the coin and crypto currency as a whole.
A worst case scenario of a major world power banning BTC or regulating it harshly still only effects short term price action that’s the power of a real decentralized currency and store of wealth.

I'm looking for something? Honestly I don't even know anymore. I'm kind of a low maintenance friend, but at the same time I like just sharing the same space with people. I've been told that I am easy to get along with people, so maybe there's some truth to that.
I LOVE learning random things, currently teaching myself piano and re-learning Japanese from my college days. On the art front, I love making original characters and writing. I was an avid roleplayer when I was younger (lots of action and romance, lol) and I still do that kind of stuff, but sparingly. I still would love to publish my stuff some day. I do write a bit and started taking a non-fiction class (for me it's a little challenging). The things I like writing about are a little complex, but I seem to always come back to the fantasy genre, so elves, werewolves, knights, big saving the world stuff. I like losing myself in fantasy worlds and daydreams some times.
I love antique shopping, coffee friend-dates, eating pizza and drinking hard cider. I love art museums, museums in general. I value honesty, so please be upfront with me if I say something that offends you, I can't read your mind. Right now I am okay with online friendships. I live in the PST zone.
A big dream of mine is to be a character designer, or just be like a writer or something. I used to play DnD a while back but stopped, I'm not really a big group people person (plus the vibes were off, but I'd love to play with the right people). Something that i'm really into right now is playing FFXIV (I started new characters on Jenova). Haven't played FPS stuff in a while, but I played the Killzone series a lot when I was younger. For FFXIV, I play on Aether and if anyone wants to play with a sprout that's never completed ARR, it'd be nice :)
Besides that I started taking like a film aesthetics class, and it's been a lot of fun! I love stuff like that, since my background used to be art history and just art in general. As a last thing, I am an agendenon-binary person (AFAB). I dress a lot more, masc? I just wear what I like. Pronouns are they/them sometimes dude/bro/boi. I get coded still as a woman, which is fine too. I'm just asking for respect, that's all.
