 | I am 36f. My father and I have always had a difficult relationship. I usually describe it as "imagine if Eeyore was an asshole." He tended to shut himself away in his home office and play solitaire and buy and sell antique tools on eBay. I played basketball for year (sometimes with 2-4 games a weekend when I was playing AAU) and I think he came to a couple games here and there. He also didn't go on vacations with Mom and I (while they were married obviously, that is a whole different set of tales). He was more or less uninvolved with my general life aside from making me dinner (I ate alone, he ate with mom when she came home. I legit didn't know people ate family dinners aside from holidays for a very long time), and picking me up from school. submitted by ArkytiorLecter to EstrangedAdultChild [link] [comments] He has remarried twice since. The first one sucked, the current one is relatively nice overall. My mom was the breadwinner by far and paid him a lot of money when they split in exchange for full custody of me. I was old enough and would have chosen her in a heartbeat, but she didn't want to put me in that position. She said she was happy to be the bad guy for me. She was an amazing woman and mother, and she was my best friend in the whole world. She passed unexpectedly in November of 2021. I am still devastated. I have spoken to them on the phone once or twice since Mom died. Mostly just texts on holidays and birthdays. The last time we spoke I had asked for space. I was (am) having a hard time dealing with losing mom and I wasn't in the mental headspace to deal with my father. There were other things going on as well. Mom's birthday is right before Mother's Day so it was a double whammy of pain and awfulness. These text exchanges happened after Mom's birthday, but before Mother's day. I had been agonizing over writing back since. I have been drafting this with my therapist's imput and finally sent this off on Monday. I have heard absolutely nothing since. I'm sure Dad is spending some time in self pity land. I'm honestly pretty proud with how it came out. Dear Dad and [stepmom2], You are right, I did ask for space. I have been struggling to come to terms with the death of my mother, and an absolute rocking of the first, and main stable environment I have ever known. I still cry a lot, and I am devastated every day for losing the best friend that I ever had. Dad, you asked me if I was sad we don't have a good relationship? I was, yes. For decades. Every year you shut yourself away. Every time you didn't come to something of mine. I vividly remember the time you didn't call me on my birthday because you were in Canada with [stepmom1] and it was "too expensive" for the international phone call. Extra $1.50 a minute. I struggled with anger and bitterness for so long, but I stopped. It wasn't healthy for me. The biggest help was one of my therapists who told me I needed to manage my expectations. I couldn't hold myself to the standard of the father I needed, so I needed to learn to accept the father you were capable of being. I have done that, and it has not been an easy journey. Throughout all of this, this is somehow my responsibility to fix. My responsibility to call you. You say you want to make the effort but you are the still the victim. Despite what you might have thought, Momma never alienated me from you or "stole" me. The worst thing she said was "he can't get out of his own way." As was per usual, she was and is correct. I don't know how or even if there is anything to fix. None of this is intended to be cruel, or hurtful. It wasn't easy to write. I'd like a better relationship, sure maybe? I'm just not sure how we will go about doing that. Maybe we can try keeping in more touch via text and see how things go. I do love you both, and I am very sorry for the losses you have suffered. Hello, plese if you can review my case.
I had 3x idiopatic acute pancreatitis (May 2018, August 2021, and April/May 2023). 2nd and 3rd attack I almost didnt had any symptoms. On the 3rd attack I wasn't even hospitalized for few days as usual.. For all 3 times amylase. was moving around 500-1500 in blood. Lypase was around 3000-3600.
I am 30 years old now. I live a very healthy life. I sit a lot, but I like to walk (I have a dog now). Blood levels are normal now, not a single up or down.
It is not alcohol abuse, gallbladder is clean, autoimmune igg4 showed negative, I never had allergies, as I know no one in the family had pancreatitis, tested on bacteria from stool - negative.
On the 2nd (2021) CT and MRI scan they found a cyst around 7mm that is in contact with the wirsung duct. Doctors thinks its IPMN. They repeated the scans (2023 in april and may)
It was 7mm back then, today, June 2023 is around 10mm
I have done EUS and MRCP and the wirsung duct is 2,3mm. Cyst is dilated on the side branch 5x10mm. LGL is around 8mm. everything else is clean
tm CA 19-9 is 0.68 tm CA 72-4 is 1.19 tm carcino embrio antigene is 0.75
Doctors think the cyst is the cause of the pancreatitis. The 1st mri scan was bad with bad machine, and they didnt find anything in 2019. They are gathering all the data to see if I need an operation. No doctor had seen a similar case as mine at this age.
Do I really need an operation? Can this cyst cause acute pancreatitis? Do I need to worry, cus no one guarantee that recurent pancreatitis will go away or progres to tumo cancer.
I had around 80kg back in 2018. due to diet and carefully lifestyle I was maintaining around 69kg - 76kg.
I am open for questions.

2023.06.07 16:51 Direct-Raspberry1005 Anyone have to do two rounds of RAI with success?
I had RAI in January (100 mci, PTC, pt1b, 1/14 lymph node metastasis, BRAF+). My Tg is still pretty high (around 7), so my doctors have scheduled me for a second round of RAI in August. PET CT was negative, and they said because there were no changes in metabolism, they did not see evidence of non-RAI avid spots.
I also will have to be hypothyroid this time and stop Levothyroxine for five weeks beforehand :( they are putting me on Thyobon to alleviate some of the side effects (I’m in Germany). We did the Thyrogen shots before the first RAI but this time they want me hypothyroid to hopefully improve effectiveness.
Anyone go through a similar situation?

Hi guys!Long time no speak. Coming up on 10 months post-orchi, still all good. Just had my blood work checkup and no elevated markers so that's good.
End of August I will have my 1 year CT scan, looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. For the sake of 'living my life' we've been planning stuff and we have a pretty huge international trip coming up in September. I kind of just realized that while I am super positive, signs of spread would probably really interfere with my travel plans.
I was wondering how soon after any spread was noticed you guys started chemo? Thanks for sharing!

Hey guys unfortunately I made a dumb mistake and accidentally did not take me dosage of vortioxetine. The issue is that 3.5 days since I have started experiencing akathisia. I am very afraid that this is going to be permanent or long-lasting. I've been very non compliant with my medications. I have been through (olanzapine 22 days), Paxil(1.5years), zoloft(5 months) and xanax/attivan(sporadically). Now I belive that the CT of vortioxetine has somewhat triggered a reaction manifesting ad tardive akathisia and I am really scared. Do you belive that I can do something about it ? I have reinstated and will taper off slowly if the akathisia is gone.

(Every time, like every single time I have diverticulitis my spleen is enlarged)
Otherwise normal in size..
My doctor don't send me to a GI to rule out cirrhosis..
Of y'all who have fatty liver, did your doctor also declare that fibrosis of the liver and cirrhosis would be visible in contrast CT scans?? (Due to my diverticulitis I've had 4 CT scans 3 with contrast 1 without)
I've been trying to get to a GI for the diverticulitis and will bring up my liver then.. but so far, no referral, I just get antibiotic refills to take when I flare up.
Main question tho is my doctor right about CT scans showing the correct size and that CT scans especially contrast would show more than fatty infiltration??(if it was more serious)
